    Love the games 😊 I’m an esl/tefl English teacher and have loved teaching English through games. So fun and the kids retain the information and want to learn. Thanks for another informative video 😊

    Hi! We just finished up Levels B and C this year with my 1st grader based on this review. We loved it and my 6 year old is reading so well! Thank you again for recommending to use along with Torchlight and Right Start. It was such a success!
    Also, I found a great online game that uses Phonograms very similar to LOE, It’s called “Teach Your Monster to Read”. Just thought I’d suggest it for others that are using this curriculum.

    Thank you for the review! Considering using this curriculum, how long would you say 1 lesson would take in Foundations A?

      Not yet - we are finishing up Level D Foundations right now and then I will look at Essentials for the second part of the school year. I have heard it is a bit more confusing from a teaching perspective so I need to do a little more research on it and then I will update!

    Why do you choose to use this program along with Torchlight? I am new to homeschooling and chose to try Torchlight.

      Logic of English and RightStart Math were the ones recommended by Torchlight (as the necessary supplement subjects) when we first were selecting curriculum. I know I wanted to use Torchlight, so I really focused on researching their recommendations. After seeing the great reviews, the games / hands-on approach and methods, I was really impressed and decided to try them. We are 7 weeks into Level A Logic of English with my middle daughter (2nd time for me using this level) and she is now reading and spelling words which she wasn't doing at all when we started. She absolutely loves the program. My 7 year old loved Level A-C and is now reading at a 6th grade level which I really believe this program helped her do.

      @@everydayimmotherin1393 I have children about the same ages as yours! I have a 5 year old and my son will be 7 next month. Torchlight recommended I could start them both with the same curriculum. I was already thinking I would need to supplement with my (almost) 7 year old since he is already reading and further ahead in math. Thank you for your detailed reply!

    Is it OK to start at level D? My dd is 7 a great reader.

    • @everydayimmotherin1393
      @everydayimmotherin1393  4 роки тому +4

      Honestly, if your child is already reading really well, I would skip D and go straight to Essentials vs. Foundations. The reading is not really helping my 7 year old daughter at all right now with Level D (she reads at 6th grade level) so we are mostly focusing on the spelling and grammar since we already had it. I'm tempted to just drop it though and go to Essentials. I'll definitely be doing both Level C and Level D during 1st grade for my next daughter instead of spreading them out.

      @@everydayimmotherin1393 ok sounds good. I'm probably going to do essentials spelling only. I want to love torchlight and your review was fantastic but I'm finding a bit discouraging to find the books.. I'm thinking I want to do mbtp OR bookshark. And right start math..is that all too much?

    I’ve looked into this and looked at the sample
    Lessons which are free on there site both foundation A-D and essentials are both amazing. My kid is in 2nd this year and I can see how I could use both to help her she is a great reader and spells well for her age but this definitely could help her! I’m going to try the sample lessons with her to see if she likes it!! Also, they have the full Foundation and Essentials are online now if anyone doesn’t want to purchase the physical copy!!!!!

    Do you feel liked you're ready to add on anything for grammar or writing? We're slowly going through LOE C with my 7 year old who has turned into a great reader recently. So now we have D to do. I'm just not sure if LOE D will be getting into grammar or what to do from there. Thanks for a great review!

    Do you feel that someone brand new to logic of English could jump right in at essentials with a third grader, or would it be better to start back at foundations to understand better how it works and cover any gaps?

    Is it a good idea to skip levels A and B for a 6 yo who reads at 4 grade level? (His spelling is below 4 grade). We’re planning to use Grammar Galaxy as well as he liked it. Thank you

      She is doing Level D (Foundations) for the first half of this year and then we will be moving into Essentials. If I was just starting out with LOE this year, then I would have went straight to Essentials for her.

      Great content! Thank you for sharing. Torchlight also recommends Michael Clay Thompson for grammar after LOE Foundations. Have you looked into that program? We are currently finishing LOE Foundations C and are looking into doing Essentials for spelling and MCT for grammar.

    Love this! Thanks for sharing! I have one question, wondering if you have an answer. I could be wrong, but I thought a lot of sight words were memorized because some don’t follow typical rules of English. So does this curriculum have certain logic rules it teaches for those words? It’s likely I could just be uneducated on this myself - just looking for info! Thanks again for the video!

    • @everydayimmotherin1393
      @everydayimmotherin1393  4 роки тому +3

      That's a great question! One of the main issues the writer of the program had was the memorization of sight words because they don't follow rules. So instead of saying "this is an exception" this program goes over more rules/explanations for why a word sounds the way it does. It also teaches multiple sounds (like the G in GYM) so children know to try various sounds. I have actually found myself learning more as I have been teaching my daughter lol
