Having Hockey in the father’s mind correlates with how the father made a core memory of the hockey goal, how Riley grew up playing the sport, and why he went all in for her new team (and assuredly all the old ones).

It makes WAY more sense that they designed the hockey scene for the main movie(because it makes sense being from MN and Hockey is nowhere near as popular than soccer in the US) and the other countries had it changed because they don't know hockey

There are a lot of movie companies like Paramount that don't get as much exposure, and in some countries their movies are legally banned from being played in that country due to certain themes that they may have. Disney and Pixar have locations all over the world and their popularity and universal themes allow them to send products to countries that others can't. Because of this, they'd want to make sure that their movies had relate-able references to appeal to that areas audience, which is why they go through the most changes when outside of the United States.

while that is true, hockey is actually our national sport too! Lacrosse was our first national sport but not to long ago (1994 i think) Hockey was declared as one too! We are one of the only countries who has two official national sports :)
The real reason is because where the family comes from Hockey is popular and they showcase it many times in the film. I think the US version better solidified that fact that it was something that the whole family could connect with as opposed to just Riley being into it.

I like to wear a elaborate Jar Jar Binks costume and mask as part of my every day life. I went to the grocery store, and saw how depressed everyone was so I thought I would help. I started dancing in the aisles, and yelling at people, and running up to people and taking things out of their cart. It was great fun. Then when I went to check out, there was only one lane open and a long line. I screamed and screamed while in line and danced, bumping into other people. I opened a box of baking soda and threw it around. Finally I got to the checkout. I started making noises at the cashier, and I kept pressing buttons on the computer. Some people in line were groaning because the line was getting very long, but that gave me even more incentive to make them laugh. I climbed onto the table and started kicking peoples groceries on the floor and singing. The manager and one of his goons pulled me off and said I could never shop there again. Can I sue for harassment or possibly assault?

I opened a box of baking soda and threw it around. Finally I got to the checkout. I started making noises at the cashier, and I kept pressing buttons on the computer. Some people in line were groaning because the line was getting very long, but that gave me even more incentive to make them laugh. I climbed onto the table and started kicking peoples groceries on the floor and singing. The manager and one of his goons pulled me off and said I could never shop there again. Can I sue for harassment or possibly assault?
