First let me say I LOVE THE NARRATION......that out of the way.....this story is about a guy who pulled a Pinocchio and brought a mannequin to life and now that mannequin is running from her creator by using a kid as a doorway?! Sorry, this story is horrible. I mean absolutely terrible. If I had read this, I'd have been upset I wasted my time. The saving grace is the absolutely AMAZING narration. But this story is horrible.
I'm guessing they went through custody court, if she had other legal documents to prove her identity then the fingerprints wouldn't be necessary at all
If you charge someone with identity theft, that's one of the first things they will check. Having possession of ID is not the same as being verified as the actual owner of that ID. That's pretty much what ID theft and the theme of this story is all about.
You’re forgetting the way they obtained and tested the fingerprints were less than legal. If it was brought up in court, it wouldn’t be admissible as evidence, and would only clue “Cody” in onto things he didn’t want her to know.

I work at a hospital taking care of people with dementia and listening to the first few minutes of this story reminds me alot of taking care of people with dementia. Many tend to forget their loved ones such as husbands, wives or children. But they sometimes still care for them deeply but arent sure why or they are happy to see them but cant even remember their names.. But thank you for another great story. I love your work
My dad had dementia, he didn’t remember my best friend but immediately asked to hug her. We were both startled but knew better than to question him since he was prone to agitation when confronted with questions he couldn’t answer.
@faerierain7536 It is frustrating for them since they cant explain why they feel a certain way about certain people. On top of having trouble forming the right words to explain what they are feeling. But they are still able to show love and care just in different ways
I've worked in a hospice for dementia patients for a year as well, and this story was too reminding me of the patients there. It's made me realize how intricate our brains really are, working there. I also always found fascinating how sometimes thing change day to day, like they had good days and bad days where they could or couldn't remember their family members, or form sentences. We had a patient with her dementia quite advanced, she wasn't really able to speak much anymore, and most of the time didn't know what was going on. But she loved music, and she would sit infront of the CD player a lot, and sing every word to a song perfectly. It's quite fascinating how that works. sorry for going on a tangent, I absolutely loved working with our patients back then, it is very hard but very rewarding work. Especially when you can make some time to spend with them one on one, but that's sadly getting rarer as time goes on. have a good day :)
My grandma has this story she likes to tell. Her father died of dementia. He was really badly deteriorated, and she went to visit him. She asked him, "Daddy, do you know who I am?" And his reply was, "No, but I know you belong to me."
Yep, I also work with dementia residents, and I also see people thinking their grandkids are their kids, even if they don't look alike. Most times, we just roll with it, since explaining doesn't really help as they can't understand.
Great story as usual. I wish someone would write one where the skin walker or whatever imitation monster becomes an imposter happens to be substituting someone either from a psychopath family or wife of a domestic abuser... kind of a "monster meets real monsters" story. That would be really fun.
You mean like the goosebumps story? About the family of murderers that end up getting killed by a family they were targeting because the family were actually praying mantis aliens? Tell me I didn’t dream that up.
I've been my husband since our mid teens (early 30s now). Putting myself in the husband's shoes, having your spouse be in a serious accident is terrifying (thankfully my husband was ok), but for them to not remember your life together must be utterly devastating. On a separate note, ALWAYS TRUST KIDS AND ANIMALS! Even in real life if they're scared of a person, there's usually a good reason why.
I have to work pretty hard to get animals to Like me. But I love animals and I think they sense my desperation for their love. There's an ongoing joke in my friend group that none of my pets love me. Including the cats I bottle fed after rescuing them.
@@astk5214 truly evil people don't even consider that they might be doing something wrong. I know it's just one comment, but I'm like 90% sure it's just your self-doubt (or self-hatred maybe even) speaking
As soon as Kodi said “you don’t know what it’s like to feel like something swallowed you whole”, I instantly thought of skin walker or possession of some sort and the questions for so that it could blend into Kodi’s life easier.
I love your sound design on all of your stories, it makes it sooo inciting and it really makes you feel like you're in the story not just listening to it. Keep up all the amazing work.❤
That's the most unrealistic thing, not that a monster skinwalker thing cloned his wife for months and then made a portal through his son? lol, ok, bro.
Not only was this story fantastically written, but the music, tone, voice-work and everything else came together to make an experience most e-books could only dream of. It felt like listening to an old radio drama. Well done to everyone involved!
This has to be the best creepy readings channel ive ever come across, the passion and care in these videos show. It's honestly inspiring, I have never felt such care and love put into a channel until now. From the sound editing to the fantastic voice actors, this channel is amazing in every way. I can't wait to see what you do next, keep up the great work.
16 minutes in and I'm thinking that his "wife" is some sort of skin walker that has stolen her identity. The fact that something broke into the car from the outside, the ID on the floor, the strange intimate questions, the hury to leave the hospital and go home. This story is setting up some fantastic foreshadowing, but i hope this story goes a direction I'm not expecting. Will update after im done listening. Update: Wholly cow this story was amazing, and Dark, your sound design conveyed it so well that I truly felt fear and anxiety. You are without a doubt the best narrator (especially with your sound design) that I have every listened too. The raw emotion in your stories, seriously you are my favorite. Thank you for all the time you dedicate to us, and thank you so much for your replies. To me you are the king of narration. I'd also like to thank all the other narrators who have helped in this story and past ones because all of you truly elevate these stories to another level. I'd much rather listen to all of you than digest any other form of media.
What a great story to end the week!!! Reminds me of the story you did about the mimic in the basement. What would you do if you thought your Significant Other was replaced? What questions would you ask to make sure they were really themselves? As always, amazing work!!! I love listening to emotions you all put into your voices and really feeling the story through your guy’s tones and the music you pick❤️
The basement mimic story had me hooked all the way to until the end. Once the protagonist and side characters started questioning his own sanity I hated the story from there on out, since i couldn’t even believe what anyone is saying. Honestly felt like I wasted my time listening to that since it had no real conclusion
Oh yeah the mimic one was SO good. It was my first vid of him too actually, and I loved it a lot. Still sometimes think about what happened really to all the people and everything.
@@Darksomnium you've given me days upon days of entertainment. My current favorite thing to end my day on a weekend? Diablo and Darksomnium. 👊 much appreciate your dedication and renewed consistency. Side note. My 1 year olds name is Evan. 👽
I enjoyed this one quite a lot. Even the "normal" interactions with people like the impound guy or the officers felt a bit creepy. Like I never knew if whatever she was was spreading to other people or they were in on it etc. for at least the first half or so of the story. Not predictable and that is something that I always enjoy.
Hey, don't worry about it Ronnie, it's like getting two stories on one day! Thanks for all the hard work you put into entertaining us. I know my life would be a whole lot more boring without you. I know you don't write these, but some of the stories you've read have legitimately changed my view on life. Remember that thre are thousands of people you don't know that love you. Keep looking up, my guy.
I’m glad she was okay at the end! But it seems kind of weird how quickly they got over Evan’s death and didn’t really talk about it much 😂 I heard that losing your child is one of the worst things you can experience.
Yeah I’ve just posted the same thing. I’m a mother of two and personally I’d never just be able to move on. Just my feeling obviously but it was the only point of the story that didn’t ring true.
Especially how was it going to go over police wise them reporting Evan missing and them already having a court case/ instability/ and custody issue. I feel like they can't just "start over" lol
Everyone handles things uniquely. You really don’t know how you’d react unless you had to go through it yourself (and hopefully you never have to be in that spot.) Many people deal with pain/loss by trying to focus heavily on other things. Sometimes it seems easier to just try to get passed it/not talk about it/ etc. It can come across to others as they’re being insensitive or heartless, but that’s rarely ever the case. Everyone deals with immense pain like that in a different way. It’s not really fair to judge someone like this, we’re simply not in their shoes.
Great story!!! Very captivating! So sad the poor boy had to die to be a doorway, but this was a good one! And You could build on it if you ever wanted too! 😊 best of luck in your future writings! This was great!
Yay! A semi-happy ending!! Plus, a story I don't have a million follow up questions about. It had just enough lore to make sense and just enough mystique to not need to be over explained! Loved it! Bravo to your epic story telling skills 👏
My guy you knocked it out of the park with this one. Not only is the story very well written and fits in with a few of my favourite stories out there. The music and sound design was really great. I genuinly had goose bumps at the very end. Well done mate, you are doing very very good as of late!!
I have some MAJOR cleaning to do due to a bug invasion (damn changing weather), so I'm so happy for all the long videos that have been uploaded lately! I focus better with background noise, and I can listen to stories better while working on something, so it's a win-win!
I love how many small details you miss on your first listen through, makes me wanna go back to the Left Right game since I'm sure there's tons of details I missed on my first run-through
@@SpookyTiney you've got a lot of commitment ! That's one long story!! I've listened to it twice, both times it took me several days as I just couldn't do it all in one go. I'll probably listen to it again in a couple years.
@JollyRanchersGrandma is the Left Right game really that good? I got sick of game stories so I never read it. But if it's worth it, maybe I'll listen. Is it just about the game or is there other stuff going on?
@MissDraiha it takes place inside the "game" but it's less of a game and more of an alternate universe that's trying to kill them. I'd absolutely recommend it not for the game aspect but for the character development and conflicts most of which happen within the group. Most of the story isn't even about which turn they're taking its about what they're seeing on the road and unraveling the mystery as to what this reality truly is. I'm not a fan of "this game has rules and if you dont follow you die" but I make an exception for the Left Right game because I forgot it was in that genre half way in.
Gut instinct and intuition truly are incredible gifts. It's amazing how our minds and bodies work in ways we may never completely understand to protect us
Such a great story, definitely one of my favorites. I love these psychological thrillers where the main character can't tell if they're going crazy or everyone else is. Reminds me alot of "the thing in the basement is getting better at mimicking people."
Okay but the SOUND EFFECTS IN THIS ARE SO GOOD?? AND ALL THE NARRATORS ARE SO AWESOME??? I haven't finished it yet but somnium never stops impressing me! Thanks for the hard work!

@@SabertoothedTiger69 It's called ""The Thing In The Basement Is Getting Better At Mimicking People"", Dark Somnium narrated it aswell so go look for it on his channel it was posted a year ago
@@SabertoothedTiger69 I think they're referring to the one called "The man in my basement takes one step closer every week." It's definitely one of my favorites!
Oh the ending reveals this story is connected to the maniquine that comes to life in the little girls room and eventually takes over so they are trapped in the house, which is also related the story of the hvac guy who has a strange job putting in duct work at the same house (seems abandoned) where he finds lots of strange items related to his life and many tragedies (anyone he befriends meets a grisly end)... When he gets spooked and runs away the house burns down. All part of the blue sunflower universe
Can you share the titles or where to find them? I think Ive heard another story from the same universe with “seeds” of evil but maybe its the wrong one
I just finished watching the first one and was sad that it ended the way it did only for you to upload the full version right away. Best story teller on the internet Som🦾🙈
Started off really strong, like really really strong. I was super engaged in the mystery and on the edge of my seat waiting for the doppelgänger to do something. That being said, the ending was such a let down. Man, I didn’t know what to expect, but it wasn’t an overly contrived and poorly explained eldritch/cosmic horror ending. You could also tell that the author isn’t a parent. I mean, Evan felt like a prop the entire story and the husband for sure cared more about his wife the entire time, which just isn’t the case with real dads. Just an overly dramatic “I saved my wife in the water tree” followed immediately by “oh yeah and our son is gone, we are gonna move and start over to save our relationship”.
completely agree. I was so invested in the story and the mystery part of it up until the scene in the room happened and it completely took me out of it. just felt like someone took a thriller novel, ripped off the last few chapters and glued a chunk of a dark fantasy novel to it to fill in the space
Thank you! Exactly the same. I’ve come VERY close to losing my child and the idea that I would be able to forgive my husband for fannying about and being so self-obsessed. Wouldn’t matter that I’d “dreamed it” My suggested edit would be that he and the simulacrum conceive a child (and ofc she has a super quick pregnancy and it could be a big dream sequence) and then she uses said infant - that way you could at least believe his real wife would be so “it’s alright love, let’s just start again!”
I agree when the two week skip happened and they were in court with everything going against Evan despite “Cody” being recently hospitalized took me out of it
That a common issue with a lot of these 'reddit' horror stories. They start off strong due to the author having a good prompt/idea/premise but then they run out of ideas and have no idea how to finish it, so they resort to pulling wacky shit out of nowhere. Creepiness always works better if you keep it somewhat grounded in reality. The moment you have a character suddenly turn into an eldrich monster who does a lore-dump monologuewhile opening portals or some shit you've officially lost me. I can no longer suspend disbelief and you've removed all creepiness by straight up reminding me that it is all fictional.
Alt./parallel version stories are most intriguing. I don't always like the endings to a lot of the stories you read but you definitely have an unique ability (gift) to bring sincere emotions to words.
Loved it right til the end. Unfortunately it seems unlikely that a man previously on the police records for a violent "psychotic break" would be able to just call in his kid as being missing - even if backed up by his wife. Which is going to sound more plausible to the police? An imposter impersonates someone and steals their child, or a traumatised spouse in poor physical condition (water in lungs / whatever other after affects she was hospitalised for) covers for a potentially harmful or abusive partner out of fear?
When I get an alert of your current vid coming up I stop the world so I can listen in comfort with no one pestering me. Your storylines and vids are fantastic 👍
Yay!! You posted again with the proper ending. I'm glad I wasn't the only one who was wondering if this was tied to the other world you just narrated. Pretty cool if it were.
Man, this was a great one. I remember reading it a while ago and being hooked. As always, yours and Rom's voice acting just enhances it even more, I found myself holding my breath a few times 😆 There IS another story, it's what Jesse was talking about. Excited to hear more!
I watch your videos sequentially and I've been really excited to listen to this one since i saw the title when it was uploaded. The title gives me "My Wife Has Been Peeking at Me From Around Corners and Behind Furniture" vibes
Man....your cast of characters was absolutely fantastic!! This story was really good! The writer has a firm grip on what makes us human. Im really looking forward to the other story in this story arc! Your work was stellar, as always, and Rom gets a special shoutout on this one too!! Sadly, it reminds me of how much i miss her channel! I get it...just an overall homerun on this one, Ronnie!! Keep up the great work! Your little Insomniac
Me and my boyfriend listened to this on the way back home from a trip and it had me on the edge of my seat, very intriguing story but the voices are really what made it! Amazing voice acting from everyone!
You and Rom both choose such fantastic stories. Your sound design is phenomenal. Thanks for consistently killin it for all these years, Darks. And @Romnex, you are a fuckin talented badass. Started watching when the video was posted only 7 minutes ago, and. My God, it's so so good the narration, the story. You will not regret watching this. To Dark S. you are amazing at what you do, and I cant wait to see where you go.
I really liked this story! I think it'd be neat if you'd continue with the outsiders, would be really nice to have a bit of a connected universe on your channel again as I've enjoyed the others you've done a lot. Great job as always Ronnie, keep it up!
Hey man just wanted to comment and ask how you're doing it's important to not push yourself too hard and to take a break when needed that being said I really love your content and thanks for making sure we have consistent quality
I like how he actually interrupts the person talking when the story calls for it. Most stories take a long pause after the cutoff of speech and then continue. I know it’s just a little thing but just another reason why this channel has superior narration. Lol.
This is great. Scary though. When I was little, I hated the mirrors, I used to imagine my reflection move a tiny bit while looking at the mirror. I used to be really scared of them. Well, my childhood home was haunted, so it could have been that.
My dad jokingly said something about mirror monsters and I guess my head made up all this lore where I’d be sucked into the mirror and replaced by a monster. Idk what the monster was gonna do, but I don’t think it was gonna kill because my little brain was more concerned about my real parents getting sucked into the mirror and I’d be living with strangers in my parents bodies. I totally forgot about that fear until now. It seems silly looking back at it, but my imagination was vivid because I remember imagining what it would feel like being sucked into the mirror world.
Your narration really brought this story to life! Jesse's voice, the narrator's mother's voice and the manikin-being's voice especially stood out to me, but the whole cast of VAs did a great job!
I genuinely adore this channel, like so much. It is the perfect background noise/tune in for me to stay focused on my tasks and you curate stories so well. The effort is truly worth it, thank you so much!
This story really was a roller coaster. I’m still not sure what Jesse’s story had to do with everything, except that it maybe ties in to a different story. Excellent narration as always Ronnie!
Also Im definitely adding this to my playlist that has other favourites from your channel....the build up, the voice acting and emotions was just TOO good
At first when i heard seeds I thought it was connected too “I think my grandpa might be a serial killer”. The story is so good with the narration bring to a whole new level😊🎉
As always you and rom did a fantastic job! And the music was wonderful! And much high praises to the other narrators!! Out of all your videos you've done, which one is your favorite? Voice acting wise, music, and effects? My personal favorite is, "the girl the universe forgot." Thank you again!!
i’ve been binging these videos. the detail and how much effort you put it makes it 10x better than just listening to a story. loved the one about the wife peeking at her husband so i’m way excited to listen to this one!!
Excited to see more from this author. Really good story, I wish he kept me guessing for longer tho, like in "the thing in my basement gets better at imitating people". Thank you for the narration.
I’ve been listening to your stories for about a year now, you really know how to captivate the listener. Definitely brought a tear to my eyes some of your stories. Keep up the good work, my good, sir.
I like this one. At first when I heard this I thought she might be a witch, but instead she’s just an avatar of an old legendary figure made by a man of dark magic. What I can guess is that she had entered a domain for all creatures and eldritch beings like herself to survive; A world where they hunt. I think there’s more eldritch beings than just her. There might be more made from dark magic or even worse; created from the forms of a galactic creativity. Keep up with the narrations! You’re nailing it.
I’m so glad I got to hear the ending!!!! I happened to be looking for something to turn on when you posted the first attempt and I got so into it but was so sad when I thought it ended with the key
That was an intense journey, thank you. I hope that birthing these stories from your mind doesn't have too intense a burden on your soul, as I listen to more and more of these stories, I feel more and more disturbed, mortified, confused, sickened, etc... It's powerful, disgustingly beautiful.

I love your sound design on all of your stories, it makes it sooo inciting and it really makes you feel like you're in the story not just listening to it. Keep up all the amazing work.❤
Thank you so much! :)
I was just imaging everything , opening the doorway, holding her in his hands and with that music in the background.... This is a masterpiece
Did you mean enticing? I think neither of these words were what you meant, as what you seemed to describe was "immersive".
The most unrealistic thing about this story is that Steve wasn't immediately arrested upon reporting Evan missing
When did they mention that?
@@Vantiastar93 1:33:00
The most unrealistic thing is the dramatization. Just makes it sounds like a story. Not real.
That's the most unrealistic thing, not that a monster skinwalker thing cloned his wife for months and then made a portal through his son? lol, ok, bro.
Standard psychotic break stuff. I thought the twist was there was no skin-walker and he just killed his family.
Not only was this story fantastically written, but the music, tone, voice-work and everything else came together to make an experience most e-books could only dream of. It felt like listening to an old radio drama. Well done to everyone involved!
The character voices on this one are phenomenal, especially Rom. She made it feel so creepy
except for the male nurse 💀 his voice irritated tf out of me
This has to be the best creepy readings channel ive ever come across, the passion and care in these videos show. It's honestly inspiring, I have never felt such care and love put into a channel until now. From the sound editing to the fantastic voice actors, this channel is amazing in every way. I can't wait to see what you do next, keep up the great work.
wow thank you so much, im honored :)
Ronnie writes and performs all of this music himself...sorry if you already knew...this guy has so much talent.
I love the basment mimic.
Still sometimes think about what happened really to all the people and everything.
there's actually a similar story by this guy named polterkites called the man in my basement takes a step closer every week. imo, it's better
So this is the second "my wife" type story and it's such a interesting and unique setting, about a close family member turning evil. It's amazing!

Could be cuz they both acknowledged what happened and they can’t do anything, cuz Evan was never gonna be theirs
You really don’t know how you’d react unless you had to go through it yourself (and hopefully you never have to be in that spot.)
Many people deal with pain/loss by trying to focus heavily on other things.

I have some MAJOR cleaning to do due to a bug invasion (damn changing weather), so I'm so happy for all the long videos that have been uploaded lately! I focus better with background noise, and I can listen to stories better while working on something, so it's a win-win!

@@SpookyTineyme too! It's SO good!!!

50mins in and I wish I had amnesia so could relive this story like it was the first time again

STELLAR!
Can you provide links/names? I’m really interested to see the other stories
Is it related to the ghost tree series?
@@Meowforce I'm pretty sure it's all connected to the "I think my grandpa's a serial killer" one
I just finished watching the first one and was sad that it ended the way it did only for you to upload the full version right away. Best story teller on the internet Som🦾🙈
OMG I felt the same
Me too 😁
Same
How did 1st end
At what part did it end.
Wouldn’t matter that I’d “dreamed it”
My suggested edit would be that he and the simulacrum conceive a child (and ofc she has a super quick pregnancy and it could be a big dream sequence) and then she uses said infant - that way you could at least believe his real wife would be so “it’s alright love, let’s just start again!”

This is great. Scary though.
When I was little, I hated the mirrors, I used to imagine my reflection move a tiny bit while looking at the mirror. I used to be really scared of them.
Well, my childhood home was haunted, so it could have been that.
Same here, I avoid looking at mirrors in the dark. Not sure if it's a phobia or if I'm just scared of what I might see.
There was a Scooby Doo episode or movie where Shaggy was trapped in a mirror and replaced by a mirror monster. It scared me so badly as a kid.
@the_rachel_sam that was my favorite episode as a kid! I used to make my mom call me Scooby-Doo. Lol
Absolutely enjoy your readings. The sounds and voices really bring them life ❤ as always hooked and appreciate you.
