*Rory.* Thanks 😊 I think this will stay among your favorite albums ♥️ While the whole thing is a tribute to Andy Wood, only Say Hello to Heaven and Reach Down were written about Andy. (And Times of Trouble was indirectly about him.) Probably worth noting the band members again: *Frontman, singer, chief songwriter:* Chris Cornell *Lead guitar:* Mike McCready *Drums:* Matt Cameron *Bass:* Jeff Ament *Rhythm guitar:* Stone Gossard *Special guest vocal:* Eddie Vedder (for Hunger Strike and additional backup on a couple tracks). Especially looking fwd to your reaction on the tunes you haven't heard yet! 😊 P.S. - Glad you're feeling better. I've been ill for the past 3 days too, and still haven't shaken it. 🤧😐 But at least I know you're not the one who got me sick 😄
Late September or early October 1991, I bought Ten and this album on the same day. I had gone in looking for Nevermind, which had just come out, but they were out of it because the owner of the record store had only ordered 3 copies. So, I got those two instead. Listened to them back to back as soon as I got home. Life would never be the same again.
Such an inspired album, capturing a devastated and mourning Chris Cornell, Matt, Stone and Jeff. The debut of Eddie Vedder - fresh into Seattle, and future Pearl Jam guitar legend - Mike McCready. McCready had recently returned to Seattle from LA, after his glam metal band (Shadow) failed to make any waves. Dejected, he sat in his room and listed to LOTS of Hendrix.
BEAUTIFUL ALBUM!! I just went to Hospital yesterday, I have covid. Not feeling good at all. I had a feeling that Rory wasn't feeling well, I'm so glad your feeling better Rory! And Lydia I hope you feel better soon!! Here's To Temple Of The Dog!! Awesome reaction Rory!! How's Nala doing? RIP CHRIS CORNELL 😢 🩷🤟✌️AND THANK YOU LYDIA YOUR AWESOME!!😢
Thanks 🙂 Getting there. Hope you're feeling better! COVID can be tough...I'm slowly getting over whatever's causing my current snotstorm but still feeling the long term effects of OG COVID from a couple yrs ago... Rest up!! Happy that Rory felt well enough to do this reaction 😊
PAYDIRT!!!! From one of your most hardcore Zappa fans... you have just listened to one of the best albums EVER MADE with one of the best vocalists ever.
Chris Cornell was a grest LYRICIST and he should be considered one of the best, but the reason he's not considered a great SONGWRITER is because he collaborated quite a bit. He did write things on his own (all night thing is a good example)... but he collaborated alot... so maybe he never thought it was correct to take all the credit. He was a great lyricist though...no doubt... one of the best, ever.
He's listening to the Chris Cornell bio audiobook, "Total F*cking Godhead," written by a rock journalist who was also a big fan. (It covers the Cornell life story, but doesn't delve into his death.)
@@christinecanty5409 I hear ya. I mainly suggested it to Rory to fill in some of the blanks from a timetable standpoint. It does give a decent recap of Chris' major life events, based on at least a bit of research (incl. pulling from others' intvws), since the author's a journo. Super fanboy glowy, though. And glosses over some personal drama and ...poor choices. Quite a contrast from the brutal Lanegan autobio, if you've read that. Which I thought was spectacular

What biography? Do you mean what we discover when researching his life?

@@LydellC Thanks. I wasn’t impressed by that book but to each their own.
