There's a reason it's called The Greatest Rivalry In All of Sport. Because it is. Its origin is from an actual war. Let me put it in perspective. Ohioan here. Buckeye born. Buckeye bred. And when I die I'll be Buckeye dead. When my family took a road trip when I was younger, we came back to Ohio through the northern peninsula and down through Michigan. My dad stopped on the border of Wisconsin and Michigan, we gassed up, ate, and grabbed some snacks. Why? Because my scarlet and gray bleeding father refused to stop in Michigan and spend any money there just like Woody Hayes when he coached the Buckeyes. That's a whole other story in and of itself, though.
@@stageplays185Ohio was awarded the disputed territory due to politics. Ohio was a state and thus had a day in things. Michigan, a territory, did not. This, it was politically advantageous to favor Ohio. Michigan was given the UP as consolation.

It's a football state is an understatement. The top states for High School football are Florida, Texas, California, Louisiana, Georgia and Ohio. Texas is probably the biggest when it comes to football, and Ohio is a close 2nd or third. To give you an idea on how big football is in Ohio, one person I know who moved from Tampa Florida to the east side of Columbus mentioned being surprised at how large some of the stadiums were . He said several of the stadiums he saw in in Franklin County were far more advanced than his son's old high school in Tampa. To give you perspective Denison university's stadium capacity is 3000, where Woody Hayes coached at before he was at OSU, four of the schools in Licking County have stadiums with near equal to or greater capacity than Denison, they are Heath, Johnstown, Newark and Licking Heights. There are 11 high schools in Ohio with stadiums that can hold 10,00 or more, with the largest high school stadium in Ohio is Massillon at over 16,000. Technically Canton has the largest at 23,000 but it is partially paid for by the Owner of the New Orleans Saints Tom Benson and has his name on it. This is the stadium the annual NFL Hall of Fame game is played. Then there's the colleges. OSU's capacity is 102,780 and Michigan's is 107,601. To put this in perspective the Cleveland Brown Capacity is 67,431, Cincinnati Bengals is 65,515 and Detroit Lions 65,000.

After a while you guys pretty much just took pity on us if anything, lol. It was absolutely miserable during those dark years, especially the number of times under Harbaugh where he had the talent/personnel to win and even came in favored a couple times - only to get crushed by Meyer. I literally stopped watching the game after 2018. Finally it once again feels like an actual rivalry!
You know the one thing a Ohio state graduate and a university of Michigan graduate have in common? They both applied to go to the university of Michigan.
I was born in Ann Arbor in '76 at the University Women's Hospital. My father was a UM alum born and raised in Cleveland Ohio; ancestors all have their roots in Ohio. He was a nuclear engineer and worked in the Wolverine Towers near Briarwood mall. Went to Johns Hopkins, but as a child, growing up just down the street from the BigHouse (UM Stadium), I remember hearing the crowds and marching band... it's what started me down the path of nightlighting as a musician (hearing the marching band at half time). Still a devoted Wolverine fan, been through many years of less than great teams, and getting beat by Ohio; couldn't watch the game this year, had to distract myself with my wife and Xmas decorations. Got a call from my father, "You'll never believe what just happened"... no one expected us to even be competitive this year, but we won. Gratz to all the UM alum and fans. Lets hope the "new" coach can keep the toughness.
We are a house devided. My husband is a die-hard Michigan fan. Im a die-hard Ohio State fan( O-H-I-O ). That is the only day of the year we dont sit together. We love and respect THE Game as much as each other.
I spent some time in Ohio in the 70's and around this time of the year the folks there were talking about the "Muck Fishigan" game. I'm like "the what??" It's now part of my football vocabulary. Doesn't help that I married an Ohio girl who's a big sports fan.
Not a fan of 2 bye weeks. Prefer the game on the Saturday after thanksgiving. Thanksgiving, Black Friday, THE GAME and NFL Sunday. Best 4 day stretch of the year.
It’ll be a 5:00 AM kickoff on Sunday, December 1 in Australia, mates. Definitely worth a watch. Tune in an hour before for the pregame hype and marching bands. The FOX Network will show the game live.
Go Blue!!! Michigan Alum, but my first Michigan v OSU game when I was younger was the Desmond Heisman-pose game and I remember rushing the field when we beat the Bucks during our 1997 Championship season.
They need to make another documentary like this, it’s been almost 20 years since this came out. Fox tried to do one like two years ago and it was terrible.
Great review and reaction. I am a Michigan fan, so this one is very important to me. The one thing I think the video forgot to mention is that ESPN had a survey years ago and the Michigan Ohio State rivalry was voted the greatest rivalry in ALL SPORTS. It beat out NFL rivalries, baseball, basketball. So this one is special. I grew up on the border and know the tension. Heck, those Ohioans even stop using the letter M the week of the game. Us Michigan people are smarter, why disrupt the English language for "the game" just beat Ohio and you show your the best. Lol Although this year is a rebuilding year for Michigan, so I am sure that they will be at us, but we have won the last three and once we get a QB we will play better than them.
Best rivalry in the country. No love for the other side of the field. Hope we can get back in the win column against TTUN this year. Enjoy the game brother!

If you go into any Ohio State Buckeyes site you'll often see Michigan spelled Xichigan especially during rivalry week.
Dec. 1 is a Sunday, that's when the pros play. The Game's on Nov 30, last day of the season. At Noon. As the Universe intends.
Which is his Dec 1. He usually says his date/day 😊😊
@@staceysmith8173 Ah, well that could have something to do with it, I suppose.
the universe intends a 3:30 - 7:00 start time but the old men who run the Big Ten insist on a noon start time.
@@ryandumphy LOL. Your economic betters who run the TV networks may intend some bizarre mid-afternoon or early evening kickoff, but if you can't drag your sorry hungover ass out of bed in time for The Game, you don't deserve to be part of either Buckeye Nation or whatever those cheaters up North call their "fanbase."
This game is going to be so good this year. They went from national champs to obscurity in less than a season. It's a familiar place for them so don't worry too much
You guys are right back to losing big games and not winning titles. All is well in the world
Great Win! I hope the loss felt familiar for you. Wouldn’t want you to be surprised by a Big Ten title game or anything. Tell Sawyer he can keep the flag as a souvenir to remember his time as a buckeye.
That post didn’t age well.
Gotta love Ryan Day!
When they speak of Ohio Stadium, they call it the horseshoe. Just think toilet seat. Same thing. GO BLUE!
Buckeye fan here, but I gotta appreciate your humor!😅
Of course! It pairs just fine with Michigan's toilet bowl 😉
Grew up in Ohio, and the rivalry is easily the best. There is a reason why the rivalry game is simple The Game. Everyone knows which game it is. The only rivalry that comes close is Army v Navy.
Another great installment of THE GAME this year, you should do a follow-up video about how Michigan has won 4 in a row!
MICHIGAN is the good guy!
OHIO STATE is the bad guy!
I concur 💯! 😂
Fun fact: the university of michigan marching band did the script ohio before the osu marching band would make it a pregame tradition along with dotting the i in the script ohio
I am through and through Ohio State fan. In some places, you littery grow up watching Ohio State vs. Michigan, it's like a way of life. Let's just say this game is so big I took actually took the day off work for this year's game to watch it.
The completion between Ohio and Michigan goes back to the Toledo War of the early 19th century.
People go crazy over this game. I did grad school at OSU and somehow avoided getting that excited about it, but I'm in the minority!
The game is November 30th at noon eastern standard time that could be December in Australia idk how time zones work but I do know that Ohio State is gonna kick TTUN ass this year Go Bucks!
@@danielcabe7582 it is December first in austrailia. He usually catches himself and says his time and usually central time. He didn't this time lol
@@danielcabe7582 Michigan beat Ohio State the past 3 years and went on to win the National Championship January 8, 2023. Since the highest number of this team went on to the NFL as many of our coaches also went to the NFL and Ohio State spent over $20 million buying players you better win the National Championship this year! Michigan is rebuilding this year so we’ll be back and that’s a promise! 😁
@@j.w.greenbaum7809 and Connor stallions should be behind bars
Mmm….no!
I always said that Buckeyes were just Wolverine turds, and they deserved to be below us on the map because turds always fall downward.
I would rather go 1-11 and beat Ohio State than go 11-1 and lose to them. Losing this game is not an option.
True. Losing this game is a failure of a season for either team irregardless of how the rest of the season went
As a Buckeye fan I was not cocky during our winning streak. I always felt it would swing in favor of TTUN. That’s a rivalry.
We will see how it goes, I don’t like the hate part of it but I guess some do.
I usually hate reaction videos, but, when it's someone outside the States watch Mich/Ohio...well I can't but stop and watch with you. 💙💛〽️
You know the one thing a Ohio state graduate and a university of Michigan graduate have in common?
They both applied to go to the university of Michigan.
I'm an Ohio State fan that"s been married to a Michigan for almost 24 years. It's been interesting at times.
Fantastic video.
Go Blue 4 in a row
Well if you do other rivalries it's going to be all downhill from here because that was the granddaddy of them all
It is one of the biggest rivalry in all of sports
It’s much more aggressive than it use to be in my opinion
Michigan hasn't been too good this year cause they drafted a whole bunch of our players.
we lost a number of key players, i think Vanderbilt could beat us... ha ha ha
And because you lost your coach, have no QB, and lost Connor Stallions. O-H
Correct
@@ryannelson3220 I know....😭😭😭😭😭😭
@@wakeuptheusa F U..... ha ha ha
Unless you are an OSU or Xichigan fan, you’ll never truly understand the rivalry. It’s intense and last 365 days a year.
Go Blue!
We are a house devided. My husband is a die-hard Michigan fan. Im a die-hard Ohio State fan( O-H-I-O ). That is the only day of the year we dont sit together. We love and respect THE Game as much as each other.
Muck Fichigan!!!! The Ohio State University class of '96!
I spent some time in Ohio in the 70's and around this time of the year the folks there were talking about the "Muck Fishigan" game. I'm like "the what??" It's now part of my football vocabulary. Doesn't help that I married an Ohio girl who's a big sports fan.
UM won that year.....
can't spell cocksucker without osu
Go Blue!!!!
DUCKS ... #1 ... THEY SHOULD SIT BACK, WATCH EVERYONE ELSE BEAT EACH OTHER UP .. 'LAST MAN' PLAYS THE DUCKS!
The Game is now the Saturday after the Thanksgiving holiday, usually the last Saturday in November
"The Game" will be a week later than years earlier because they have added a bye week.
As a michigan resident, ive never seen this video. Cool to watch it with you. Ohio might be better than michigan this year but we still beat em.
As a Michigan fan, i fricking love Ryan Day! He always finds a night to lose!
Go bucks!
It's the last game of the year. There are now 15 weeks in the season with 2 off weeks. But it is still in November 30th. O-H
I-O
Not a fan of 2 bye weeks. Prefer the game on the Saturday after thanksgiving. Thanksgiving, Black Friday, THE GAME and NFL Sunday. Best 4 day stretch of the year.
I-O
THE Game is always the last Saturday of November. Or, the Saturday following Thanksgiving in the US.
Go Bucks!!
The Game is on November 30th this year. If you looked at the tv schedule time in Australia it may be early morning Dec 1.
It’ll be a 5:00 AM kickoff on Sunday, December 1 in Australia, mates. Definitely worth a watch. Tune in an hour before for the pregame hype and marching bands. The FOX Network will show the game live.
My family has been living in Ohio since 1803 and I remember my great grandpa saying fuck Michigan back in 2001 when he was 94 years old lol
While I’m 90 born and raised in Michigan with two degrees from Michigan. Fuck Ohio State. Overly Soft University.
Go Blue!!!
Michigan Alum, but my first Michigan v OSU game when I was younger was the Desmond Heisman-pose game and I remember rushing the field when we beat the Bucks during our 1997 Championship season.
Michigan and integrity don't go together 😂😂😂
I think we malet you down a little this year but who knows!? Michigan can pull a win out their ass with how hareful this rivalry is. #GOBLUE
Go Bucks
Lol
Although this year is a rebuilding year for Michigan, so I am sure that they will be at us, but we have won the last three and once we get a QB we will play better than them.
“Us Michigan people are smarter” lol
I was at the 1995 OSU Michigan game. It was the worse feeling being there when we lost. 😭😭😭. But I’m a Buckeye through and through. O-H
I-O
I was hoping to see all the beef and fights ngl
Best rivalry in the country. No love for the other side of the field. Hope we can get back in the win column against TTUN this year. Enjoy the game brother!
The rivalry that started with a War in 1835 between Michigan and Ohio. (Born and bred in Michigan... "that state up North" :)
The standoff between the two state militias led to the football rivalry also being called "The border war."
The game is being held November 30th this year
Yep, that's the 1st Dec for me
Lifetime Ohio State fan. Biggest rivalry in college football and one of the biggest in sports
There's a little thing called the international date line that will make it December 1 in AUS, but Nov 30 in USA.
I was a student at the University of Michigan when Bo and Woody were the coaches and when Woody had his temper tantrums the Michigan Stadium which is the largest in the USA would boo Woody like crazy! I’m 76 and still really dislike Ohio State! Go Blue! 💙💛
