Evolution mitre saw stand

- The Evolution mitre saw stand can be used with any Evolution mitre saw or chop saw, plus other makes of saw which makes this stand very appealing as it is much cheaper than other mitre saw stands on the market today. The stand is very easy to set up and the saw mounting brackets are incredibly easy to use and have a positive locking action when locked onto the leg stand. The main frame of the stand can support 500Lbs including the weight of the saw+materials. This mitre saw stand can be picked up for about £60 which is an absolute bargain-

You can but additional saw mounting brackets direct from Evolution for about £20 per pair, which is much cheaper than some other brands!

In the workshop I have a timber built station my saw sits in however this is perfect for when outside or away from home. Sure i paid over £60 for just some roller outfeeds!
+The Restoration Couple
Yes, it's a cracking piece of kit for the money. I can't remember how much I paid for my Dewalt leg stand, but I think it was about three times this price!
Thanks for the comment
Assembled mine yesterday, very robust item for the money, good value and British engineered! Great if you want to transport your chop saw around. With an additional roller you could manage massive workpieces easily.
I'm a bit ambivalent about it in my small shop though, perhaps I should have spent the cash on timber and made a cabinet with cupboards. Working height on these stands is always so low and I'm a short arse too, bending ain't great on the back I find.
This looks very sturdy, as I don't have a proper workshop space I reckon this would make a good alternative to the normal workmate thing I use with a few extra brackets for a workbench top. A vice would fix well on there too.
+Matt Tester (UKMatt2000)
You can fix most machines to this ( sometimes with an adapter plate, which you already know about ;-) ) but I'm not sure if a vice would work well on it, as vices normally need to be fixed to something heavy to prevent the whole thing moving during use!
Thanks for the comment ;-)
Hi Handyman, been a subscriber for 3+ yrs now and have restored a home using the information contained in your videos (plus others) . So when I saw you reviewing this stand and rating it like hundreds of others I ordered one from Screwfix. Keep up the good work pal👍🏻 Pete Brighouse
Thanks Pete ;-)
Great informative vid as usual. Almost bought one of those when they showed up in B&Q. At the moment I'm using one of my two folding work benches as a stand. The only issue with this is sometimes I need 2 work benches and one of them is under the mitre saw.
+Rui Nunes
I have used trestles in the past with an off cut of kitchen worktop, but one of thee stands is a lot better and safer.
Thanks for the comment ;-)
I bought one of these from Screwfix about 5 months ago for use with my Makita saw, its been really good value for money.
+Alan Hurley
It's a great piece of kit for the money, much better than I expected!
Thanks for the comment ;-)
It is an excellent stand I got one form screw fix and had it a couple of months and it's been brilliant 😀
+harry lewis
Thanks for the comment Harry ;-)
Nice video, great bit of kit, i will be replacing my old Bosch chop saw with a evolution sliding mitre saw very soon. I'm hoping to buy a stand for it to as I currently just use a platform or use my trestles with a board on top to act as a table!
+Faisal Y
Thanks Faisal, it's much better with a dedicated stand.
The Evolution saws are impressive ;-)
Thanks for the comment
Thank you for the video, been looking at treating myself to one of these for ages, thanks for the video very helpful.
You are welcome. This is a great piece of kit for the money ;-)
0:37 You have the roller on the wrong way around
1:04 Im not sure how fitting and removing the saw easily is supposed to occur. In my experience you can either setup the clamps so they have a really good grip on the base when locked in to place and then not be able to remove them easily, or have them loose with the saw not held steady and then it is indeed relatively easy to remove.
1:51 Ive got one of these stands and its bloody heavy. I can carry it, but it sure isnt easy to do so and I wouldnt want to walk very far with it. The stand weighs much more than the saw and that certainly isnt light in itself.
2:48 I found the assembly very confusing. The paper instructions are next to useless. The diagrams are printed so small that for most pictures you cant even make out what they are trying to show you. I ended up just guessing and using the picture on the packing box as a guide.
Thinking of replacing the Rage 2 I had stolen and putting it on the stand 👍
+wayne burgess
The Rage 2 is an awesome machine.
It's the first machine I reach for when I have any serious metal to cut ;-)
Handy little piece of kit!
+Jo Baecker
Absolutely Jo, I do also have the Dewalt leg stand, but this one is much cheaper and works just as well.
Thanks for the comment ;-)
Do Rage do a double bevel saw in 110v I need one for that big charity job this spring.
+wayne burgess
Hi Wayne, yes they do but it only has a 255mm blade. www.evolutionpowertools.com/uk/build/rage3db.php
Would that be big enough?
Just wondered have you ever been sent a sample that you weren't impressed by a company but still videoed and reviewed it?
+Ryan Cooper
No, I have been sent some stuff that I tried and thought it was crap, so it went in the bin.
I'd never review anything that did not do what it is supposed to do.
I think some other channels give good reviews on stuff that is not as good as they make it out to be. I have seen some good reviews of the Milwaukee M12 inspection camera, but mine is a load of crap- ua-cam.com/video/842Ys0IJwm8/v-deo.html
Thanks for the comment ;-)
+Ultimate Handyman so, you wont be specialising in proctology anytime soon?
Awesome review, thanks for the heads-up :) Can this be used to mount other things such as a vise?
+BrenticusMaximus1 Thanks, you could fix a vice onto it, but you would probably need to make a fixing plate for the vice to fix to.There is not a lot of weight in this stand, so if you are doing heavy work a prober bench that is fixed to the floor would probably be your best option ;-)Thanks for the comment
Another product I have will buy, based on your excellent review video. I hope screwfix appreciate your work, and reward you with an endorsement of some sort's
+Jay Wilkinson
Hi Jay, I'm afraid I have no connections with Screwfix.
Evolution are good enough to send me some items to review though ;-)
Thanks for the comment
I have this stand, great bit of kit. 👍
+wayne burgess
Yes, especially now that you can buy the extra mitre saw brackets!
I'm sure I paid £50 for the Dewalt brackets!
Can you put any mitre saw on this or is it only for evolution saws
I've not tried every make of mitre saw, but the stand is pretty much universal. I think I've had my Dewalt fixed to it in the past 👍
Can you send where to get them as I want to get a couple of sets for future tools I want to fit to the stand? 👍
+wayne burgess
I think you can only get them from their website as they don't seem to be for sale on ebay etc-
www.evolutionstore.co.uk/mitresawstand/brackets_pair.php
Have you bought another Evo mitre saw? That's the DB version. Or did they send it for the demo?
+Matt Allen
Hi Matt,
Evolution sent me the DB version, so I passed my old Rage 3s on to a friend. I'll use the DB version from now on when doing most things!
Thanks for the comment ;-)
+Ultimate Handyman Ooh you jammy thing. Of course, you'll have to review that now.
+Matt Allen
Ha Ha, of course ;-)
Sometimes I think I have the best job in the world.
Thanks for the comments
hi chez.needed advice with regards to removing a drill chuck off a makita 8406 drill. I have seen you vid on removing a drill chuck however my chuck is fully open any ideas on how to remove it. many thanks
+arfan jhangir
If the chuck is knackered you should be able to grab the end of it in a vice, then engage the drill to spin it from the chuck (providing the drill is powerful enough)
+Ultimate Handyman
so am i to put the body in a vice or the check also this drill is a makita 8406 diamond core drill it doesn't have reverse on it. would this idea still work?
+arfan jhangir
No, I think the drill needs to be in reverse!
You might be able to remove it by tightening a pair of molegrips on the end of the chuck and then smack the molegrips with a hammer?
I have that stand with the evolution saw. I love it but for some reason I can only get a 45 degree cut one way when I try and rotate the saw to the other 45 degree setting it seems to catch. have you experienced this problem?
No, I have never had that problem. I originally mounted the Evolution saw on my Dewalt leg stand and it was great for straight cuts, but no good for mitre cuts as the Dewalt fixing brackets prevented the Mitre saw from doing a full 45 degree cut, which I did not find out for a while (until I needed to do a mitre cut). The Evolution mitre saw should work perfectly with the Evolution leg stand, can you not see anything preventing you achieving the full 45 degree in both directions?
Yes it seems to be the fixing brackets which attach to the saw and then the stand that stops it. Maybe I have attached them incorrectly.
I don't think you can attach them incorrectly. As long as the saw is facing the two push down handles on the fixing brackets it should not be obstructed when adjusting it for mitre cuts.
I have same thing and have seen others complain about it as well, did you ever find a way around it?
Actually I figured out you need to remove another piece off the handle so that it can swing to the 45 mark, it's in the manual just not very clear
will this adapt to any mitre saw?
+Andrew Couch
Yes Andrew, it should work with any mitre saw on the market as long as the mitre saw has holes in the base for fixing.
The saw fixing brackets are slotted, so regardless of where the saw fixing holes are you can always get the bolts in.
Because the end rollers on the stand are height adjustable it means the stand should be compatible with almost any mitre saw!
Thanks for the comment
Thanks Chez luv to know who the toss potts are who give you thumbs down...always watch yr vids before i make a purchase..
+Eddie Prout
Thanks Eddie, I would not worry too much about the thumbs down (I don't).
I often watch cartoons with the kids and some videos have millions of views and will have a couple of thousand likes and dislikes, I mean how can anyone dislike a cartoon!
I remember one guy once gave my video a thumbs down, then commented that he left a thumbs down because the video had nothing to do with what he searched for on UA-cam- like that was my fault LOL
Thanks for the comment ;-)
Will the mounting brackets work with a miter saw that has offset mounting holes? The front and back holes on my Hitachi are not equal distance.
+David Wojcik
Yes, providing the front and back holes are in a straight line- facing the front of the machine.
The saw mounting brackets have slots in them, so can accommodate most saws.
Thanks for the comment ;-)
+David Wojcik might be able to use some metal to match the offset to the parallel, the stand is much cheaper than the dewalt etc, so a bit of effort im sure you will get it to fit
+David Wojcik Hi David, I have made an adapter plate now so that any machine can be installed to any leg stand-ua-cam.com/video/QDAzUzQBGZwI/v-deo.html hope this helps ;-)
+Ultimate Handyman Great video on the adapter. Looks solid. I actually did a wood version myself. My miter saw is now mounted to a plywood platform that I can pop on and off the stand. Thanks for the link.
+David Wojcik
You are welcome David ;-)
Thanks for the comments
If you can buy the brackets is it b possible to fit the Evolution cut off saw on this same stand?
+wayne burgess
Yes, absolutely. Unlike other stands you can adjust the height of the rollers at each end, which means this stand is more versatile than most other stands.
I'm going to order some more stand rails, then I can fix my pillar drill and Rage 2 to the stand ;-)
They are only £20 a pair- www.evolutionstore.co.uk/mitresawaccessories/
Thanks for the comment ;-)
+wayne burgess
I'm saying the cut off saw will fit, but it might not have pre-drilled holes in the base.
I'll just go and check -
+wayne burgess
No, it won't fit without making an adapter plate!
I thought their brackets were compatible with all their saws, but they must only be compatible with the mitre saws and not the chop saws!
Tut tut own goal there Evolution.
Mine was brand fire new and some scumbags broke in my mates lock up and stole it. Amongst other things.
+wayne burgess
I hope they are now dead from a Heroin overdose ;-)
Cool thanks for the link 👍
+wayne burgess
You are welcome ;-)
Do you think this will work with dewalt saws? I just bought a dws778. Many thanks
+benpenzance
Yes, I think it will fit straight on as the fixing brackets are slotted, but worst case scenario if it doesn't you might have to make an adapter plate from a piece of plywood/aluminium etc. I'm pretty sure it will fit straight on without the adapter plate but can't be certain.
+Ultimate Handyman - Awesome, I'll take that chance, thanks for reply and all the great videos
+benpenzance
You are welcome ;-)
Someone said that you can't make 45 degree cuts when using the stand? Can you confirm?
Can't remember, sorry.
I still have this, but it's in the loft, as I use my Dewalt leg stand now.
I vaguely remember having an issue with something like that, but I think it was because I had positioned the saw on the rails incorrectly.
Can we get a follow u up review ?
It's still great, although I have changed over to the Dewalt leg stand, as I don't have enough room for the Dewalt and the Evolution stand.
@@ultimatehandyman Awesome!
nice
+3omar2005
Thanks ;-)
Amazon now sell this as well as Screwfix, and will deliver it to france which Screwfix wont. Same price too..
+Robert Wilson
Thanks for the info ;-)
Got one, great piece of kit and a quarter of the price of a De Walt unit...
+Robert Wilson
Absolutely, thanks for the comment ;-)
