    Not for me, I dont fancy being reliant on the survival of the company to be able to use a printer, or having to use an app to set up the printer and having my private data mined, wait for some major updates and you will be learning Morse code in no time! LOL

    While this is a great printer for beginners, it's also great for those of us that have been printing since the Anet A8 was a thing and just want to print and not tinker and mess with settings constantly. I've had mine for four months and now I have two. These printers are great and have had a lot of fixes by way of firmware updates. Only thing I don't like is the filament and bed temps for the PLA . I was having problems with what I assume was heat creep when these try to print PLA with 220 on the hot end and 65 on the bed. I was having jams and PLA warping with their stock settings. I now run 230 and 65 on the first layer and 200 on the hot end and 55 on the bed for the rest with zero issues for PLA. I haven't had a problem with the presets for the other materials. All in all a great printer......now that they have fixed a ton of issues with their firmware updates that is.

      This is my exact question! I’m trying to pick between the two now I’m leaning towards the 4 because you can use micro sd, usb, or network what if later the app isn’t supported anymore for this one? Like many apps after a few years they normally ditch it for the new one. So I think the Neptune 4 is more future proof

      Its basically and ender 3 with 2x faster printing, slightly better quality and no calibration/setup. Overall, definitely worth the extra $. The Prusa mini, no offence, kind of sucks. 1/3 the build area, slower printing, same quality. For more money. Right now, the Anker make looks like the best deal on the market to me. 320$ on black Friday, just 20$ over the Bambu Lab A1 Mini, for 3x the build area, albeit slightly slower printing, seems like a pretty good deal to me. It just comes down to how much area you need. No need for anything over 18*18*18 cm? Bambu lab Mini. Need a bigger area? Anker Make M5C. And if you really needa stay sub-200, go for the Solvo SV06. Basically and ender 3 with minimal setup and way better print quality.

Someone that knows a little a bout 3D printing would also notice only white filament was used (hides imperfections), and pre-sliced files. So we don't even know what it can do when you need to slice something you designed yourself or purchased online. EDIT Some of the files were in fact sent to the slicer and not presliced files. EDIT

    I'm new to 3D printing and I'm supposed to remember 6 possible functions from one button with no context of what the actions are since new and have no idea? How is that "smart" on ankermakes part? Also why do I need an app in order to use a 3D printer? Cant wait until I need an app to use my microwave. SMH

    • @Richard97402
      @Richard97402 Рік тому +1

      If you think this is overwhelming, definitely don't get a different 3D printer. This is incredibly simple and straightforward compared to any printer that I've seen and/or used. Why is there an app? Because there needs to be a way to send the info to the machine. It beats some of the 3D printer's terrible screens, and helps keep the cost down, because they don't need to create a screen or a controller, because they're using a better screen that you already own.

    • @vicdez
      @vicdez Рік тому

      @@Richard97402 Completely missed the point. The app isn't there to make things easier or to reduce costs. (It actually takes more money to develop proprietary software/products) Its there to collect data from your phone via an app and sell that info. From the same company that brought you the eufy security camera security breach. Oh and by the way.... they're using klipper and pretending its their own lol.

    Both the M5 and M5C BOTH problematic. I own both. M5 printed great for about a month then after that SUPER inconsistent. I was weary but still bought the M5C and the extruder stepper motor failed after 3rd print. 2 Creailty Cloud prints and then 1 Self sliced file. Fixed it and printed 1 more Creality cloud print model and it broke again. Only good thing is the prints that DID finish came out just fine. I have had the M5C for 8 days and STILL giving issues with the stepper motor. Ankermake Aftercare has not responded since I sent email 5 days ago. Skip this and wait for the Ender 3 V3 it will have better support and open source community to keep it getting better. Ankermake is proprietary and closed source so again wait for the V3.

      Thats odd youre having issues with customer support, they have staff directly in the discord and they respond pretty quick, ive never had an issue with email support either. What do you mean by the extruder motor failing? ive run my M5 since october last year i was an air shipping backer and its run nearly non stop since ive gotten it havent had a failed motor yet.

    • @3DandTeePrinting
      @3DandTeePrinting Рік тому

      @KevinLagan I was not part of their Discord. I emailed and called but Thanks you for that suggestion. Someone did give me the answers I needed and it is up and running now. This is the first and only printer I have ever had a motor issue with. I have running it through its paces and will have a video out soon of my final thoughts after I put a good 300 to 500 hours into this one.
      In regards to my M5 it WAS my go to machine in the beginning. Ghosting alot but good prints. Then it wouldn't get a good bed level. Then the extruder kept clogging from heat creep on ABS or ASA. Then on and on. I am NOW giving it and the M5C the respect they deserve and FIXING all the issues I am having. That way when the M5 IS printing like It WAS, and the M5C stops layer shifting and extruder motor jamming. Then I can enjoy them like you are yours.

      @KevinLagan Thanks again for the advice on the Discord. I am reading some insightful stuff on there. There was another firmware update last night for the M5C. But I still think my issues are hardware related rather then firmware. Because when it does print right it puts out some good looking prints for a printer in its price range. Looks like the firmware update added a PERCISON option under speed. Hmmm.... maybe instesting.
