The rights of the parents are second only to the rights of Allah (subhanahu wa ta'ala)
The rights of the parents are second only to the rights of Allah (subhanahu wa ta'ala)
"And your Lord has decreed that you not worship except Him, and to parents, good treatment. Whether one or both of them reach old age (while) with you, say not to them (so much as), "uff," and do not repel them but speak to them a noble word. And lower to them the wing of humility out of mercy and say, "My Lord, have mercy upon them as they brought me up (when I was) small." ~ [Surat Al-'Isrā,' verses 23 & 24]
Join Shaykh Dr. Yasir Qadhi in today's Ramadan Qur'anic Gem where he gives a commentary on Surat Al-'Isrā' verses 23 & 24, and learn about the status of our parents.

My mum passed away last week, she was very young when I was born, Im 42 now, I feel like a child, lost in grocery store, I can't look at anyone, speak to anyone, even think about anything except that I start crying, may Allah forgive her & give her Jannat ul Fidros, Ameen!

I pray that you have found solace and comfort. No matter what our age it is a deep loss to lose our parents.

This is an amazing reminder..I wish people who ran off to Syria without their parent's permission knew this. They think by going to Jihad they are guaranteed jannah. SubhanaAllah!

Domino Real While we all disagree with people joining the Syrian civil war, there is more to understanding the hadith than parents having a blanket right over the child. Scholars have differentiated between voluntary jihad and obligatory jihad, and you can find these discussions in the books of fiqh.
In any case, heart touching video. May Allah reward the Shiekh, and all those involved in organising these talks. May Allah allow us to excel in the treatment of our parents.

Salam alekun. Please help to answer this question.
Can someone doing Ittkaf leave the premises of the masjid to go to another masjid about 2-3 km to attend a religious function and come back to continue his Ithikaf?

No, the only exception to leave is to attend a Janaza prayer provide you include this at the time of making your intention.
