Which one was the most terrifying cliffhanger?

First one, since not only Frank Gorshin's acting here is chilling, but this is also the only cliffhanger that actually ended up in villain's favor. That truly makes you realize that Riddler wasn't a pushover in this show and he could've potentially killed them using other, lethal traps.
I would say that just about every cliffhanger was terrifying depending on who the main villain/villainess is.I'll always enjoy these episodes whether it's the Dynamic Duo or the Terrific Trio with Batgirl.The fight scenes are awesome,but the traps and perils though pretty corny,were very monstrous and ingenious, however,I'm glad they found a way out of these dangerous predicaments.
I ENJOY THE NARRATOR'S VOICE ON THESE EPISODES.If I'm not mistaken, this was the same narrator who did the Green Hornet episodes.Who is the unseen person that does an awesome job. Is he still with us?
Is the actress Anne Baxter that was Zelda,also Queen Olga with Egghead and those cossacks?
Always fascinated that the guy doing the dramatic voice work was the show's executive producer.
I agree, his voice really played a part in adding to the excitement....
William Dozier played himself in the final episode with Minerva. He got an eggplant shampoo. If you listen closely, you can hear his narration voice while speaking to Zsa Zsa Gabor.

You'll have a quick chance to see the man behind the voice in the first episode, when Batman goes into the Go-Go place and a man approaches him & says, "Ringside table, Batman?" That's the man!!
To me the closest calls were from False Face when he had Batman and Robin tied to the railroad tracks, from The Joker, when they were under the asteroid and from King Tut when Batman was submerged underwater in a sarcophagus. However, the cliffhanger with Zelda The Great was the most unique in that in featured Aunt Harriet over a pool of burning oil. Of course it is highly unlikely actress Madge Blake was actually in that straight jacket, blindfolded and dangling over the vat but that would have been cool to see!

Aunt Harriet was running at Marathon Speed over that Flaming oil that Zelda the Great was responsible for.
Why was Aunt Harriet blindfolded and running over the fire tub?That Zelda certainly was an evil woman.AH didn't deserve that trouble at all,so innocent.,never hurt anyone.

@@flynnlizzy5469 The first two and a half seasons aired two nights a week on Wednesdays and Thursdays..they later aired on one night of week on Thursdays for the final season.
A video of all of the cliffhanger escapes would be cool too!
Didn't they just 're write' the script so that the next episode they were able to escape because after a week we forgot exactly the situation they were in the week prior ? Or am I thinking of another kiddies show from back then like Roy Rogers, whatever ?
@@flynnlizzy5469 I think you might be thinking of something different. I remember the next episode of each cliffhanger starts off with flashbacks of the previous episode (voiced by the same narrator) to let the viewers catch up in case they had missed it.

What a shame that the last season discarded the cliffhanger endings.

ABC/Greenwood Productions had cut the budget for Batman to the bone. If you watch some of the 3rd season episodes you can see cardboard cutouts as background sets. It was a tragedy how the quality of the show deteriorated by the end

The penguin has chief o hara locked in the crate and was about to be pushed down the slide to the electric volts in the pool by the penguins hench girlfriend. But the odds are batman and robin stopped the penguin and saved the chief from his electric water death
I love that the giant clam goes straight for Robin without hesitation. He’s such a wimp when the clam eats him alive with his green boot twisting around like that.
One of the best parts of the show!

The first two are more subdued than the others that followed as the show was still finding its energy. I kinda like the more subdued ones.

I thought Robin would really bite the dust when he was trapped with the crocodiles and the platform being pulled in.

1st season had the best cliffhangers, 2nd season had a few that I liked, the rest were too cheesy

The 1st season that ended with cliffhangers was in the Top 10 and beat The Virginian in the ratings with the next night beating Daniel Boone in the ratings when it cracked the Top 5
However, the 2nd season saw the viewership dropped as the cliffhanger episodes went from a Top 10 to #58 while the next night went from a Top 5 to the Top 40 at #37 and both The Virginian and Daniel Boone would gain the upper hand on The Dynamic Duo in the ratings as Daniel Boone went from a Top 30 to a Top 25 and The Virginian would go from a Top 25 to finally cracking the Top 10
Adam West said in one of his books that it was the overkill of camp/parody in the 2nd Season (as opposed to the 'camp lite' approach of the 1st Season) that turned off viewers, especially kids who didn't like seeing their heroes turned into buffoons
I guess that's why it explains why ABC canceled the show after the 3rd season. Oh, I forgot to mention, the budget was dropped badly in season 3, with props being made out of cardboard from what I've heard and they decided to cut the cliffhangers and it became more and more silly, NBC wanted to bring the show back for a second chance but ABC smashed all the sets that would cost a ton of money to rebuild and NBC was like forget it. The good thing is the legacy of 66 Batman will forever live on.
@@MarioSonicPhillyFan700 I agree, I believe that abc renewed the show for a 3rd season due to Thursday Night having higher ratings than on Wednesday Night and so, to renew the 3rd season, they kept it on Thursday Night once again against Daniel Boone instead of keeping it on Wednesday Night and having to compete against The Virginian
I also heard that had NBC picked up Batman, Clint Eastwood was considered to play Two-Face. Imagine Dirty Harry as a Bat Villain?
Batman was cancelled in 1968 along with The Man From U.N.C.L.E. and I Spy and The Andy Griffith Show which became #1 in the 67/68 season also came to an end (Andy Griffith wasn't the same without Barney & Gomer Pyle who went to the USMC)
The Family Channel (Formally CBN and now Freeform) was the 1st Cable Network to air reruns of Batman followed by FX, TV Land/VH1, Sci-Fi Channel, The Hub (Formally Discovery Kids now Discovery Family Network) and Me-TV and Antenna TV

Why didn’t this fantastic show get more seasons?
Because ABC canceled the show after the ratings dropped NBC wanted to pick it up but ABC called people to bulldoze all the sets costing hundreds of thousands of dollars NBC decided to drop the project.
