Hey Dude. Greetz from Germany. Nice Video- Youre the first one i see removing the frame with the Clooling Rips including its Pads ... i didnt see anybody who does this. GREAT Work. Thanks for This!!
thanks, I just bought a used one, and this was very helpful
Glad I could help!
OMG.. Thank you so much for posting this.. Just got a replacement card for my MSI sent to me and they sent me a damn Zotac 4070 TI Super in it's place and I can't control the RGB lighting on it with Signal RGB. So, this video showed me what I need to just unplug the damn lighting.
in video like this, better to see temps before and after replacement. To understand ,if it improves overall.
Here's the ZOTAC RTX 3090 disassembly.. if you need to know regarding the thickness of the Thermal pads, the Brand i used, and the Part number of the Cooling fan if your one needs replacing, just comment below or just watch the video it shows all info in the video.
hey do you happen to remember the thermal pad thickness for the vrm mosfets? 19:44 im about to replace mycard as it is badly overheating. its just i want to make sure i ordered the correct thermal pad thickness on all the varrying sizes for the card
Hi bro! VRAM's is 2mm and VRM's is 2.5mm..hope this helps. Enjoy!
Theres some vrams on the back, r they 2mm too?
Hi I just bought a 3090 Trinity OC and wanted to give her the same treatment. Is it going to be the same process as this one? Thanks
If its the exact same model, yes! Just follow this step by step tutorial..it's so easy bro believe me..😉
@@TakeThatScrewOut thanks for the answer! Could you tell me what pads you use under the black bracket on top of those 2 columns of tiny capacitors?
@@paulalexandro4546 that's 2.5mm thickness on that VRM's that you're talking about..and for the VRAM that sorrounds the Gpu Chip is 2mm thickness. I suggest use a good quality pads like Arctic, Gelid..Arctic TP-3 is my favourite due to softness side, it could easily adopt any gap.
What is your electronic screwdriver model ? It looks cool
Cheers bro! Yes its very handy and useful screwdriver, its called a " WOWSTICK 1F plus 69 in 1 electric screw driver" you can find it easily in AMAZON or ALIE PRESS. COM. You can find the LINK in Description down below. Thanks!
If someone is intetesting Im used 2mm back, 2mm front gelid extreme pads and 2.5mm on power section. Works fine, temps in furmark, games and 3dmark ok.
Previously used thermalright but they are too hard and not compress that cause low GPU contact and high hotspot temps.
I saw you missed one small 5x5mm thermal pad on the front on the 1 lonely vrm what should be there. 29min 54s (left from 3x video rams modules.)
You're right bro, Thermalright are a bit hard.. Even harder than Gelid. For anyone looking for good quality soft pad, try Arctic TP-3 they are not that expensive. Gelid had good reputation on transfering heat.. But they are hard and pricey.
@@TakeThatScrewOut I checked them out online and max thickness available is 1.5mm. So if I need 2mm can I use 2x 1mm stacked for rams or bad idea? :)
@@Agrabelek_Michal_K Hey! The lonely VRM you mentioned is the one marked 2R2 2029, right? Do you know if it needs a 2mm pad or something thicker?
@@AndyEatsCocoa propably Yes I don't have schematics, sorry I don't remember :(
Stacking thermal pads i don't really recommend..you could do that as a last resort, but that would still works and tranfer heat, but not as good as one whole piece.
Seems to be some inconsistent answers here. Are they 2mm pads front and back (all around), or 2.0mm and 2.5mm?
front is slightly lower than 2mm. I got 2mm extreme odyssey and had to squish them down to be level with the GPU core for the core to make proper contact with the heatsink. The rear I think you can use 2 or 3mm since the clearance issue on the front is to do with the core which isn't an issue on the rear.
Enjoyed watching your teardown video. I have a question to ask. at 24:05, you are connecting a white connecter located on the end of the pcb. what is the role of that connector? at first I thought it is an RGB lighting connector but it seems to be connected to a backplate.
is it a thermo sensor for the memories in the backside?
The White connector connected to the PCB is for the Light in the Backplate..
hola tu vives serca del mar? porque parece que el disipador de aluminio tiene oxido de salitre.
Hi! Please, can you tell me how to clean the heatsink marks? (Humidity?? )
Hello bro! I normally use small wire brush to scrape those white condensation spots..don't use a big thick bristle wire brush cause that could damage the fins..use a fine one.
@@TakeThatScrewOut thanks :) !!!
You're welcome bro! Enjoy!
did you use 2.5mm thermal pads for vrms? It will be really helpful if you tell me the thermal pads you used for vrms.
gelid don't seem to have 2.5mm pads..
VRM are 2mm thickness broh..hope this helps!
Gelid is a good quality pads..but is a bit hard
@@TakeThatScrewOut On your video you measured 2.5 mm on the VRMs.
Hello!! Could you tell me what screw sizes there are for holding the backplate onto the PCB? I bought a used one and I think the previous owner put a waterblock on it and lost some of the screws. Thank you!!
Hello, You will see that he is removing six screws on the back. 4 screws with springs around the core. The other two black screws are size "M2x8" M2=2mm x8=8mm
If I have misunderstood your question.
I am going to dismantle the GPU soon, and can of course measure the other screws, if desired.
@@kaerscarface I'm all good now! Thanks for the reply and offer!
BTW, I am planning to take off that zotac led bar at the side to fit into an sff case. do you know how take that bump from the side of the fan shroud?
yes definitely! you can remove that plastic bump in the side through removing few screws located inside the Shroud. Pay attention there's a cable that you also needs to be removed thats for the led.
Is it possible to replace the fans without needing to repaste/repad the card?
Yes you can bro! Watch the video on TIME STAMP 1:30 that shows how to remove the front shroud with the three fans. Hope this helps!
@@TakeThatScrewOut It looked like you also need to remove the heatsink (thus maybe ripping of the thermal pads) to disconnect the fan power cable. Or did I see that wrong?
Anyways thanks for answering so quickly!
@@jaloley8558 the two fan connector is are attched to the side of the board..you can disconnect that connector using a LONGNOSE PLIER..the other wire that goes to the other end of the board that is for the led light of the front shroud.
@@TakeThatScrewOut Thanks so much! I think I'm confident enough to replace the fans now. Wishing you a great day!
@@jaloley8558 You're welcome bro! and you.. take care and enjoy!
Tks
I just bought a used 3090 trinity and the seller said he replaced one of the fans. I put it in my PC and the fans are not spinning not even on boot. Do you think its a fan connector issue?
Trying to find answer while the card is running right now.
The fans stay off until GPU hits 60c then the fans kick on that is normal now if it stays off after 60c there might be a problem!
well, possibly the fan connector wasn't connected properly or perhaps the replacement fan is not the right fan or maybe much deeper if the problem is from the pcb itself.
Hey man, I want to remove the whole shroud with fans and replace it with three Noctua fans. Is it possible to remove the shroud without removing the whole cooler? The fan connectors are on the side so it's possible to disconnect them with the cooler attached, but the rgb cable seems to be problematic. Is it possible to disconnect the rgb cable from the shroud, not the gpu?
Hi bro! you can definitely remove and detach the whole Front Shroud just unscrewing 6 screws from the front, and you can detach the whole shroud with the three fans on it. and regarding the led light connector, that could be access by removing the Metal Backplate, the led connector is underneath the backplate at the other end of the PCB. hope this helps.
@@TakeThatScrewOut thanks for the reply! Do you remember if its possible possible to remove only the backplate (to reach the rgb connector), and leave the cooler attached ?
@@rogigor unfortunately, to access the connector for that led you have to unscrew the six screws at the back, that would detach the PCB from the heatsink. The backplate is attached with the pcb, so you don't need to unscrew it. Only 6 screw at the back that you're going to do you could access that connector that you need. But unfortunately you have to apply a Fresh Thermal Paste before you put it back.
what is the length of those 2.5mm pads?
It won't matter the length in one full piece, if you already got a leftover pads that is short..use them, just line them up to extend the length. the most important are the chips
should be covered with pads. but if you really want a one whole piece, but atleast has 120mm on length.
@@TakeThatScrewOut nice, because i have 85x45 pads
@@crnigruja1150 that's perfect!
I regret getting a zotac 3090 it shuts down when pulling over 320w gonna sell it and get a MSI or EVGA (RIP EVGA)
Zotac brand is a Mid tier when it comes to their product..they perform okay but not as good as Asus, evga or msi when it comes to design and performance. I agree with you bro.
Put zotac 385 watt bios ,undervolt.
This is how you kill a gpu: not paying attention and forgetting a pad for a buck converter.
then it will light up someday
