In my opinion,it is an in grown hair, that got infected,if it was staff, or MRSA this patient would have more than just one.clearly it was just an Ingrown hair that men, get from shaving and it got infected 🤨
Physicians can only work with what is brought to them. If a patient waits until the pain is excruciating before seeking medical attention then you have limited the physician’s options of pain free treatment. They do the best they can with what they have to work with. You did a great job working with this patient!
RN of 20yrs here and I am so happy to see a wound cx done properly. I started out in labor and delivery then women’s clinic and ended up in home health for about 5 yrs where I ran into one of the best WOCN’s. She always said you don’t send a sample of all the crap that comes out. You swab the wound base to see what bacteria is down there. THERE are soooooo many vids I come across that just collect the dead skin cells and junk. Why?! Anyways thank you and thank you WOCN nurses!!!
Why "Still"? Was someone coming up fast from behind? I doubt it, & I'm sure you would too. I just like to make trouble. That's how I ran off two (now ex) wives. I expect to run off the 3rd (soon to be ex) by "President's Day"
This Dr is amazing I love the way he talks explaining things he has such a calming voice , poor guy you can tell how much pain his in it’s nice how the Dr keeps asking if his ok 🙏
I always root for Dr Jane, she did a superior job! Dr Butler, you are one the few Dr. I watch that takes the culture after irrigation, but it makes sense. Thank you once again.💜
As you saw when he was irrigating it with saline the cyst already had a small hole from where it started and it probably would have started draining from there. I agree with you!
Had one of these! The pain was unbelievable, ended up draining on its own but i can still feel the capsule on the jawline, as always a good vid from doc and doc jane! Thanks for sharing.
Did you see a doctor afterwards? Afaik that capsule can fill up again or the infection can move into other areas of the body which can cause potentially lifethreatening issues. Not trying to scare you or anything but these things can be pretty nasty if left untreated.
@DanakarEndeel aye,got it checked after I was hit with another cyst in my left leg and it was all good at the time, I was indeed worried about getting infected again. Thankfully I've been free from cysts for a while now.
Wow, I actually knew the answer to some of your questions. I remember helping my ex-wife study for her RN boards and I ended up scoring around 60% correct. Keep in mind that I am not in the medical field at all. I happen to hold two degrees in engineering from U of H. My Ex graduated close (or at) the top of her class and passed with flying colors. The last I heard from her, she was working as a O.R. Assistant. You know, if I had not had a phobia about needles and blood, I just might have become a Doctor. To you and others, my greatest complements for what you do in your profession.
@@Marinaaduran They came from a practice test. I would ask my wife questions to prepare her for the test. One day I decided to take a practice test myself. Nice education Dr. Butler. I'm an NP and love doing I&D and stitches but noone around me is hiring. I just love the relief it brings to patients. That patient is definitely going to need some ABX. Blessings to you!
Hello Dr. Geoff! Its been a long time my friend! I used to use the name "Magestic". Hope you are doing well! It's great to see your videos again. A lot of people don't understand that you're actually a teaching physician & not only are you treating your own patients, but you have residents currently in medical school. Your explanations are so well done even non-medical people understand.
👏🏼 i felt like i was back in college 😂 Dr. B is actually an awesome teacher i wish when i was in college i had someone like him to not only challenge me but reenforce the answers
Yikes! MRSA, I hope you wore a mask or some sort of facial protection Dr. Butler….Great, caring work as usual. Blessings send to you, your staff and patients🙏🏼🍀👋🏼🇨🇦
Thats so professional, personally I love specialists with this approach, talking to me and letting me focus on how advanced are things they are doing instead of on the pain. Even my dentist when he drilled my tooth after I told him that was surprised that I was like "its a little painful but its allright" during invasive treatment (and painfull, not that I didnt work for that :/ )
You're awesome with your students and you have the best bedside manner truly i wish i could have seen you for the one i had on my temple it looked like a hard boiled egg 🥚....to the patient thanks for sharing your procedure ☺️ you handle that extremely well good luvk with the healing
The doctor didn't take out sack or at least he didn't show it. If he didn't it's going come back but next time it will infected and 10 x worst. Good luck
M.R.S.A. is no joke. Had it in my elbow joint and it was by far the absolute worst pain I had ever been in. It felt like I had lava going threw my entire arm. I know that this is just a cyst, I was just referring to when they were talking about staph and m.r.s.a.
@@DrGeoffButler oh well then glad you helping him through this painful situation. Ever since I had it I've cleaned the heck out of every cut, scrap, or any kind of wound. Love your work.
hello, how do you get mrsa in your joint? and how did you get it out?? i have a cyst and it ruptured on its own i just sat through the pain since i have high pain tolerance. right now as i type i feel the lava as you explain it. or how i describe it to my mom i told her it feels like 15 fire ants biting you in the same spot. after a while i can tell my brain to turn off the pain, usually i have to do it before i sleep or else i cant sleep, i have to welcome the pain, sometimes at doctors office when i get pasts cysts removed i tell them no anetheisa please. and i love to feel the pain
Patient is in Lala land. He doesn’t answer questions at all. Also, bruh don’t wait so long to go to the doctor. It will save you pain. Granted I understand time, money, insurance etc but if possible don’t wait so long. Again, I love how this doctor teaches as he treats the patient. Clear, precise and concise information. Gotta love it
Thats interesting to learn that with an infected area, anesthetics dont work as well because inflammation lowers pH (more acidic) in the area, and that causes the lidocaine to not be able to deionized, which is required for it to enter the cells and actually do its job to numb the area. I had no idea of any of that. I love when little sprinkles of information are just dropped like that during a video. Not that its something I'll probably ever need to know, but interesting nonetheless. Just one more reason to get something treated before it gets infected because once infected, itll be harder to numb it for treatment. Thanks for the info 👍
My toddler had several recurring MRSA boils. He had horrible tonsils and once those were removed the MRSA never returned. I think they were polluting his immune system.
It probably was a cyst at first from shaving and ended up getting infected. 🤔 Makes a guy want to forget about shaving all together and just grow a dang beard!😢 Great job, Doc!😊
As a long time phlebotomist I have to comment on this doctors steady hands and wonderful demeanor.
