The accommodations on the Hlin longship were amazing. From the decor to the staff, I could not have been more impressed. My favorite parts of the ship were definitely the Aquavit Terrace and the 24 hour coffee bar!

Hi Morgan, I'm loving your videos and we're off on a Viking Rhine River cruise in August. One question, please? In our paperwork it states NO hairdryers or curling irons. I saw that you have one in your room. Have the rules changed or they just don't enforce this? Also, do they supply a hairdryer? Thanks, Karen
Hi Karen, I don't recall that being a rule when I travelled so that could be new or I didn't know about it! Upon a quick Google search, it looks like curling items were allowed previously. A hair dryer is provided in the cabin. Enjoy your cruise!

On our trip, a hairdryer was supplied; there was one in one of the drawers. However, the room has at least one US style AC socket by the bedside, to accommodate those of us who have to use a medical device.
Hello, I’m taking a viking river cruise in July with my wife. After seeing your video I am concerned. Is everyone on the boat that old? I am no spring chicken but it seems I would be a youngling compared to those guests.
Thanks for watching! My cruise was primarily 60+, but there were a couple families on board and people accompanying grandparents/parents that brought the average age down a bit. The target audience for Viking is for sure older and the itinerary is definitely at a slower pace, but you can always venture off independently from the excursions/tours!
Morgan I noticed what looked like two outlets by the bed. Was one US? What about the other?
Pardon my extremely delayed response, which is not going to be helpful as it's so late.. also because I don't recall the outlet details. Hopefully you were able to find out and enjoyed your trip if you've already sailed!

How was the flight getting to you cruise. I've heard horror stories.
Hi Carolyn! We didn't run into any issues. However, this was back in 2017 so I know things are a lot different now. Some tips I've heard are to make sure you have enough time between connecting flights and to be sure to pack important items, some toiletries and a change of clothes in case luggage gets delayed/lost!
We had problems with our flight. Viking provided a 1 800 number. We took the ICE from Frankfurt Airport to Basel. Use the pre tour as a cushion if you are worried about a delay.

Bland food, bad entertainment, cheap wine, tours that focus on the bathroom.
Is there a cruise company that serves good food and nice wine? I don't like eating in a cafeteria and I don't drink cheap wines.
Hi Ed, I thought the dining room was very nice and didn't get the cafeteria vibe myself, but I see where it can seem that way. As far as the wines, you can always purchase upgraded options off the menu if the house wines aren't up to par. This is the only river cruise company I've experienced. There are a many other companies though that offer a range of price points and luxury!
Recently went. It was ok. Expecting more. Flight s were terrible. Changing planes in Heathrow airport is crazy. A shopping mall Inside an airport. Give me a break. Shuttles to every terminal. 30 minute shuttle rides. The food on the Viking not the best. Nothing against your video. It was great. Thank you. But the trip and Viking not worth the money. Limited time in scenic towns because they had you on a high school schedule. Sorry Viking. Not a good trip.
The pace of the trip is very tailored to a specific audience. Definitely not for everyone... Thanks for watching though!
0:40. This looks terrible. With all the great places to eat on shore why would anyone want to eat institutional food in a cafeteria??
Hi Tom, I completely see how it looks that way, but luckily, I didn't get that vibe. The staff are top notch, the décor is beautiful and the food wonderful! They try to prepare food from the area you are in so you get a taste of the local cuisine. The meals are included in your cruise cost, but there are some options to eat off the ship if you'd like. Where we could find decent options (the larger cities), we definitely got a snack or two. Thanks for watching!
Great vlog. My wife is only 57 and is concerned that she might find the entertainment boring and more suited to older people. Will be be OK? 🫢
As far as entertainment, there is usually just a piano player in the lounge (as far as I recall!). Viking River Cruises are definitely a slower, more low key atmosphere for sure.
