Totally agree with @DLS on the fins for particular boards. Depending on your size and weight, how you surf, and the waves you surf, different fins are going to be more suited to one surfer or another. I have boards where the shaper recommended a certain fin set, and I struggle to find the groove on that board. I try a few different sets, and find the magic setup. It could be a semi keel instead of an upright. Or a quad instead of a thruster. And so on. Some people say “only a pro can tell the difference between fins”, but my experience has been that the fins can be the difference between a total dog of a board, and a great one - even when the shaper has recommended or provided specific fins for their shape. Work
You might find the most recent story about Kelly Slater interesting. He was giving out misinformation about climate change and was called out by an environmental activist. I don't know if you tackle subjects like that. It's a news story
About fins, I’ve never liked 5 fin options that much. It’s either going to work better as a thruster or a quad and I want what ever is going to work best.
Where are the unseen Tom Curren clips? Would love to see vid for 1983 Hang Ten pro final Tom Curren vs. Joey Buran in over head perfect lefts at OB,…. shooting the pier right after takeoffs,… and surfing on down to in front of the lifeguard tower. Curren was doing radical graceful carving, mainly backside double pump off the lips, and repeat,….. looked great. Buran's style was brash power surfing. All good. There's a bit of vid of Tom apparently in that final on one of the WaveWatch vids.
Not to sound like a know it all but almost positive Nathan/Ivan are at the cliffs of Moore in Ireland. The burgundy jersey one of the guys is wearing when they're getting ready is for the local team, Galway & they have clear Irish accents which sound nothing like people from Norway lol
@SurfSplendor I really enjoyed this episode! Don't think anyone needs to worry about anyone going to that spot, though, unless they've got a death wish lol. Much love fellas. Great insight!

Interesting point! The shaper should be able to recommend a fin but the question is: For whose body type? Jordy or Keanu Asing? Big diff

Agreed, seldom does 5 feel necessary

Isn't a lot of that stuff on youtube?

Are S-Wings worth a shot?
definitely a fin that needs to be experienced, and who knows... it might be your glass slipper!
Tech in this example would mean technical, not technological 😂
totally, and hi tech is a good clarification to high performance
For the terminology, why not just call what Felipe and Italo are doing "CT Style Surfing?"
probably just "ct surfing". although "high-tech" is also good
Everyone knows a square tail holds in better than a round tail.
What about a rounded squash?
I think I’m gonna throw my food on ya...
