I agree - layering is ALWAYS key. I often need to travel between Australian summer and European winter, with frequent layovers in Malaysia or Dubai so my travel outfit has to work just as well in forty degree (Celsius) weather as in minus ten. It is for this reason that I LoVE skirts and tights. They're so much more versatile than pants. A nice, loose, comfortable skirt (not too short or you end up flashing your underwear at people on the plane) paired with a simple camisole and sturdy flats is perfect for the hot places. I also carry a scarf with me everywhere which has a million excellent uses and here is perfect for respectfully covering your shoulders etc in some of the more conservative places like Dubai without overheating. It can then double as a pillow/blanket/shawl/anything once you're on the plane. Planes and airports also tend to be a little cooler, so this is where I pull out my nice, soft pair of fleece-lined tights which roll up nice and small in my handbag - they layer perfectly under the skirt and even if you're stuck somewhere where you can't get to a bathroom, it's possible to pull them up underneath the skirt without too much damage to your dignity. Then I add a simple (and always comfortable!) long sleeve shirt to keep cosy during the flight. I love merino wool thermal gear for this. It breathes well so doesn't feel too hot and stuffy and it won't get smelly - not even after several days of hiking, so it's definitely fine for a 24hr plane journey! Plus you can find some really lovely designs which don't just look like thermal underwear/technical gear so they're fine to wear as outerwear even in cities. When I land in Europe, the scarf becomes an actual scarf, I pull my feather/down jacket out of my hand luggage (It's super big and warm, but folds up really small) along with a cute beanie and gloves and I'm set for the train journey to the Alps - I usually keep an extra sweater with me as well for this leg, just in case. Then to go back I just do the same thing in reverse. But I find this system also works really well even when going from cold place to cold place as often places like hotels, bars, restaurants are well (over) heated and it's good to be able to easily change layers throughout the day.
I'm always amazed when I see people wearing sandals and flip flops for travel. Seems like open toed shoes would cause problems if they ever had to run to catch a connecting flight or train or bus. And my feet always get cold on a plane. Closed toed shoes always! :-)
Black maxi skirt, comfortable t-shirt and cardigan. On my feet, my fave black Vans if I am travelling to warmer climates or black boots if I'm heading into winter. And I ALWAYS have a scarf - best invention ever!
I only take one color of clothing so EVERYTHING matches. I've experimented black, brown and blue. I now go with black. Also hides wrinkles and spills. Black is beautiful.
I took your advice on bringing a scarf to Cambodia and it was super useful as a "mask" because the roads were so dusty and it was my cover when it drizzled. and I used it as an accessory too. Thanks.
Oh my goodness, why didn't I think of that?! One outfits is genius, takes the guesswork out from figuring out what to wear on the planes/trains. I just stumbled upon your videos and they are great! Very informative, great tips, and also helps me figure out what to wear but still look cute. You have a fabulous life, by the way.
I usually wear a slightly loose fitting t-shirt or other shirt and if it's cold I wear a soft baggy sweater. when it's not cold out, I only wear a t-shirt and a thin jacket. I usually wear thick comfortable boots or jogging shoes. I also wear comfy pants like you showed here. My hair is usually in a simple braid, ponytail or low bun.
My outfit would change from one destination to the next, I never thought to wear the "same" outfit. I decided to adopt this, with possibly changing the top as a layering piece the white top, black pants, and most likely converse will be my go to!! Thanks
Sonia, thank you so much for your awesome travel tips...i'm taking mental notes for my trip coming up in four weeks...much is appreciated!!! Keep those handy travel tips coming...i love watching each episode. :)
I wear a jersey maxi dress, tee shirt and converse! Denim jacket and I always always take my American apparel circle scarf! My number one travel item it's a hood, blanket pillow you name it!
Just found your channel today while researching Biaggi luggage. Love it so far. And my travel outfit is very similar to yours except I wear my tennis shoes on the plane and pack my boots because I can slip my tennis shoes off on long flights.
When I get on long flights I usually just wear my sweatpants, a shirt and a sweater. It's so comfortable. And as my feet are always cold i just take a pair of really fluffy socks in my bag and put them on as soon as I'm on the plane :)
I wear slippers (even though they sometimes get a little warm) and long black sports socks. A super comfy T. My old Lucky Brand jeans. And finally, an old flannel. Done. I try to carry the minimal amount like a wallet and phone. When there is nothing in your hands and you hop on a plane it is very freeing and feels so much more like a brave adventure.
So is this outfit good??? (I'm going on an airplane trip to vegas. I plan on wearing a comfy white shirt, Timberlands, some comfy tights, a sweat shirt, and some faux glasses to accessorize
J Jill Wearever straight legged pant, navy, J Jill a tee or tank, Pima cotton any colour, a Swing cardigan, navy. Always a scarf. Always Keens. With the Wearever pieces you can mix/match skirts, jackets, tops, pants & dresses and use on your entire trip. I cruise a lot so I normally take a coverup and bathing suit plus a formal gown. All set!
I always wear: -a loose maxi dress that's jersey material and has no waist so is very very comfy, yet isn't long enough to touch the ground -leggings under the maxi dress to stay warm on the plain and not worry about exposing myself -a baggy cardigan - doubles up as pillow/blanket -ballet flats - easy to take out for security and on the plane when going to sleep Super comfy!
gosh ur tips are so useful, i will be traveling soon to Trinidad n Tobago my first Caribbean holiday....lemme know if u have special tips for me :) xx kip doin a good job
I were a jeans a shirt and flip flops so its easy to take of this time I am wearing my rumper cant wait ontill I go overseas again cant wait can't wait
I travel on train to go to camp and my go to travel outfit is pair of comfy black leggings a nice baggy tee with my scout shirt and necker with hiking socks and boots on my feet for comfort, in my pack I usually keep a pair of shorts in case it gets too hot and I have a cap in my pack and go hair down with a bandana in xx
Great tips thank you . I wear jeans , scarf , comfy top , and a great jacket not bulky but just right . If I am doing a business trip same except that I take a blazer and super low heels. I have some low heels pump shoes that are super comfortable I can run while wearing them
Hi Sonia, I'm now "Sonia obsessed", please let us know where you got your scarf from? Already bought the boots, LOVE them! Had to have them shipped to Australia form the US, yep I'm dedicated!
I wear my blouse either with a white long sleeve or a short sleeve one with black tights and my boots and a jacket PS in a month ill be traveling to america (to days after christmas)
Ah Sonia, mines, very similar indeed!....Usually a light confortable dress pants and a white shirt and a sports coat / jacket...they dress up / down so well....and you look smart and stsy practicle all the while...on a long overnight flight I always take a set of long sleeve / long pants pyjamas that are made out of t-shirt material......change in toilet, and clothes are folded into overhead bin...shuffle around the nigh in super comfy pyjamas, trying to sleep, and after breakfast, go to toilet freshen up and get into clean freash clothes! :) ...... (Hint 'QF; business class pyjamas frequently turn up on flea bay...these are perfect!!)
Hey Sonia you forgot to mention which watch to wear for traveling? I notice you have that orange Protech Casio watch. Hopefully you can make a video explaining why you wore that watch. If so explain how it benefits your travels thanks.
I love ponte-knit pants year-round. They look polished, are flattering on everyone(I'm plus-sized and they make me look GOOD), and are as comfy as leggings. I also used to carry a cashmere sweater with me (lucky thrift store find!), but my cat got really angry and...um...yeah.
Thanks for all the tips! Love your videos and the length of them. My travels this summer include an internship in Boston and then a vacation to turkey. Two opposite styles of clothing I will need to take but I am reluctant to pack a huge suitcase. I am actually hoping to only use a carry on. Do you have any suggestions?? Oh, did I mention I'll be gone for a month and a half?! Help!!!
Okay, please take this question seriously: you know how when traveling on a airplane they make you go through a body scanner thingy? Well, what do you do about bras? Even "no wire" ones still have hooks, but sport bras do not give the slightest lift. Any suggestions?
Thanks! I just think I'm gonna melt on the way to the airport, but that's ok hhaah :D Thank you very much! Your tips are gonna be veery useful for me ^^ you're great!
Soft knit pants. Tunic length sleeveless silk & rayon knit top. Thin cashmere & cotton flowy cardi. Silk or fine wool wrap/scarf. Everything soft, flowy, comfy. No accessories and easy off shoes for speeding through security.
Im from london going to dubai tomorrow night. I have the outfit all plannned out. White vneck tshirt (calvin klein), marled black and grey sweatpants and i fold the bottoms to the ankle (h&m), my neutral faux fur coat(river island), coloured blanket scarf (primark) and boots (steve madden). When i wear it all together you cant really tell im wearing sweats which i love lol
To make space in the suitcase I were the biggest shoes I want to have with me. Boots for example no matten if the are ankle boots or knee high boots. Or my trainers/sneakers. Go check the skechers with memory foam in their bottom. It is like walking on clouds I love them. in the winter I where my bulky sweater and joggers or favourite jeans in the summer a t shirt and carry the "it might get to be chilly in the night" jacket on my waste. The bottom is always the same.
Quarter-zip pullover, casual button-up shirt, performance undershirt, khakis (normal ones, not hiking pants with eleventy billion exterior pockets), and slip-on oxfords. Sweater and shoes come off easily, whether for security screenings or for comfort, and I look good, which I think improves my mood and my interaction with the locals.
I wear some sweatpants or a pair of black pants with elastic in them. A comfortable t-shirt with a light jacket or coat depending on where I'm going. My shoes are always easy to put on an take off. I hate shoe laces, so they slip on and off..and they are tennis shoes.
nice comfortable jeans, tank top, over shirt(summer is a t-shirt & winter is a long sleeve), scarf, if winter a sweater and jacket (layering) my favorite born clogs. I can wear socks to keep my feet off the nasty floor going through security. I keep them polished so they look decent and can wear them with nice long pants for evening if needed.

Looks great. First video of what to wear travelling I’ve actually liked! Smart, classy and comfortable!
I'm always amazed when I see people wearing sandals and flip flops for travel. Seems like open toed shoes would cause problems if they ever had to run to catch a connecting flight or train or bus. And my feet always get cold on a plane. Closed toed shoes always! :-)
Best advice ever! Simplified my life!
Good tip

Turkey is on the list!!! So so beautiful

I love your videos! This one (and all the others) will really help. Thank you!
Your accent when you speak in spanish is SO GOOD!

I like it but never wear white when travelling...have had all sorts of spills! Even courtesy of an air steward with some orange juice! Lol
i've watch almost every video on your channels... thank you sonia! :)
Love the same same same travel outfit, too.
White shirt? Black will disguise little drips or big spills better.
Basic black t-shirt, joggers, light jacket, scarf and Tom's (best shoes for traveling in my mind)
Omg sonia i wear something similar to what u wear whenever i travel! Great tips
Zara! It's my current fave

Where is your scarf from?
Love the watch. What's the brand?
Hi Sonia, where did you get the pants from? I am looking for a comfortable pair but am struggling to find a cosy but stylish one.

Sonia said it was from Zara. I would like to find a similar one as well. Its just so beautiful

Cold! Dress for the cold. You can always store your coat in the overhead :) Pants, a long sleeve T, and a good sweater + your coat in your hand.

Hey Sonia you forgot to mention which watch to wear for traveling? I notice you have that orange Protech Casio watch. Hopefully you can make a video explaining why you wore that watch. If so explain how it benefits your travels thanks.
What brand are those boots??? SO cute!
Steve Madden. If you look close enough, you can see the label inside the boot.
I like to wear a white tee, plaid shirt, and my favourite pair of comfortable blue jeggings. For shoes, converse. :)

I do the same think! A leather jacket, combat boots, and a huge light weight bag. Staple.
