Yes- where are the A40/A50, A55, A90 ,95 and 105 - Westminster A99 and 110 - A55 Mk 2, Austin 3 litre, Princess, Ambassador, Montego, Austin 1100/1300, Maxi - to mention just a few ??
Thank you so much for putting this video online!! When I was a young kid, my father had one of these (A40 Devon) in exactly that same beigy color (They called it some kind of "dove"). He loved it!! At the time, I hated it because I was teased unmercifully by the kids in the neighborhood whose parents all had Chevys and Oldsmobiles and Pontiacs. My father was an extreme non-conformist and I grew up sort of like "The Boy Named Sue." Another reason I hated it was that I inevitably was seated on the front seat between my mother and father and he would jam the gearshift lever into second and smash my knee and then he would lace into me with, "Why don't you keep your knee out of the way?!?!?" But one thing that I did love about it was the directional indicators. They were an amber-colored kind of arrow that swung out from the door posts with a "clop" sound. I thought that was really cool. This definitely brings back memories. I would definitely buy one today as I love little British cars. Thanks again!
@@MrDaiseymay I am British by heritage, but not by birth. But my statement was not that I loved British sports cars; rather I said "little" British cars. While it is true that I had an MG Midget, my first car was an MG 1100 (the precursor to the Austin America) and I also owned a Mini (the original one, not the BMW imitation). Only one of those 3 could really be called a sports car; the others were "saloons."
The Austin Cambridge is an A60. 'Austin Mini Cooper 1961' is just a standard Austin 7. Austin Mini Saloon Deluxe is a post-65 Morris Mini with aftermarket wheelarch spats. Austin Atlantic model no. is A99. Austin A70 is a 'Hereford.' Austin 16: car behind is an earlier A55 Cambridge.
I remember my dad used to say that his dad had and drove an Austin A 40 Devon back in in the 50s and was the only person the family who owned a car. And now I feel like I need to complete the circle.
There's one missing at least. In 1952 or 1953 my father bought a beautiful woody: An Austin A70 Hereford Countryman. I don't think there aren't any in UK or anywhere else.
I loved the A90 Atlantic. I first saw one in a Main dealer showroom , in Birmingham, from the top of a Bus. 1950. it was bright Red, with cream interior. It was the most exciting car a nine year old could possibly see then. It looked like NOTHING else; so streamlined, and that sloping front, with all those chrome strips, and built in central spotlight. Amazing. Years later I learned they were mostly heading to the American Market--but sadly, they flopped. Their appearance , promised a lot, their performance, didn't.
I too was 9 in 1950. My parents bought an A90 Atlantic just as you describe, red with cream upholstery. Lovely car. The windows and soft top were electric. One day shortly after they got it I sat in it in the driveway and raised and lowered the soft top and the windows until I ran down the battery. I was not a popular kid for a few hours.
The first car should have been described here as the A40 FARINA MK ll, the A40 moniker was used on a host of completely different models from the late 1940s up to the introduction of that Italian Designed Model. Even the unreliable Wikepedia gets most of that right: The following vehicles were sold under the Austin A40 name: 1947-50 Austin A40 Dorset 2-door saloon 1947-52 Austin A40 Devon 4-door saloon 1947-56 Austin A40 Countryman 2-door estate car 1947-56 Austin A40 Van 2-door panel van 1947-56 Austin A40 Pick-up 2-door pick-up truck 1948-5? Austin A40 Tourer 2-door, four passenger tourer built in Australia [1] 19??-19?? Austin A40 Coupe Utility 2-door coupe utility, produced in Australia [2] 1950-53 Austin A40 Sports 2-door, four passenger convertible with twin-carburettors and aluminium bodyshell 1952-54 Austin A40 Somerset 4-door saloon and 2-door convertible 1954-56 Austin A40 Cambridge 4-door saloon 1958-67 Austin A40 Farina 2-door saloon and 2-door hatchback
I counted only 23 distinct Austins. Your title oversells the product, dear. There have been *at least 84* Austin models - and that's just standard cars, not taxis or other commercials.
I am Aussie. all our mini's where Morris badged. My Dad liked English cars but I didn't follow his lead at all, I liked American V8 cars. although there were some I will admit were great..
How about an interesting commentary instead of the noises that someone probably thinks is "music". Nice photos, but so little info about each of the models.
The Austin 12 1933 wouldn't be with out it for the world Herbert Austin would have been proud his cars are still going strong Nearly Ninety years after they were Built stood the test of time made to last! unlike the rubbish they make with robots now horrible and horrified come back 20th century!!
Full List, FULL LIST??? Oh Dear, its so far short of a full list its laughable. Oh and the "full list" includes at least a couple that should not have been listed as full models, but are non Austin mods. For starters, I owned three Austins not included, and if you feel the need to list lots of Mini's, you can do the same for the many much more varied Austin 7 types!
My dad had a black A30 and two Cambridges - a royal blue saloon and a red estate. Beautiful cars.
Amazing Video.
Thank You very much.
My dad owned an Austin A70 back when. Remember the Austin Princess advertisements in Country Life magazine!
Great pictures. Thanks for posting
The Atlantic is just gorgeous, would love one of those.
I have seen two roadworthy examples of this model in Queensland Australia this year
never seen one in real life, just photo's, youre so lucky
I loved these British cars! Sad they were originals. Sad the British Automobile Industry is gone!
WRONG - the UK car industry makes 1,700,000 cars year !

You’ve hardly touched the surface of all the Austins ever made......
Yes- where are the A40/A50, A55, A90 ,95 and 105 - Westminster A99 and 110 - A55 Mk 2, Austin 3 litre, Princess, Ambassador, Montego, Austin 1100/1300, Maxi - to mention just a few ??
And the Austin Healey and Sprite.
My dad had the same color Austin Cambridge.

I GUESS YOU ARE NOT BRITISH THEN ? USUALLY, ( AMERICAN /CANDAIANS ) ONLY BUY BRITISH, IF IT IS A SORTS CAR / JAGUAR?

My dad had an Austin Devon.....twin horn and semaphore signals...Austins were quite popular here in Ireland
There's one missing at least. In 1952 or 1953 my father bought a beautiful woody: An Austin A70 Hereford Countryman. I don't think there aren't any in UK or anywhere else.
Picture at 1:29 is of a Austin 8 not a 10 as stated.
Lovely. But sir you missed out the A-125 which is also called the Sheerline. A-135 also called Princess. Both were top of the line luxury cars.
True, but they showed what they had.
The second car you show, a cream Mini is in fact badged as a Morris.
A55, A50, Westminster . Just 3 of many you missed out
A40 Cambridge too
Even the Allegro such as it was , Metro, etc. etc.
All you need to know about Austin Motor Company: ua-cam.com/video/1hoIMLCIZIw/v-deo.html
My dad owned an Austin A70 Hereford back in the late 1950's.

They also cost as much as a Buick.

Stephen Saunders ;8
I agree. ''A list of Austin cars'' but not ''A history of Austin Auto's.'' But very nice to see again. Childhood memories galore.
Missed the A70 Hampshire. Similar to the A40 Devon but with bigger bumpers and full spats on the rear wheels.
I am only lately getting interested in these 50s 60s English cars, Where all Austin A 40s a Devon, also did miss anything about the Shearline...
A60 Austin Hereford, auustin dorset, same a sthe devon only two doors, austin metroplolitan austin westminster, austin princess

Agreed.
That noise ( music!) is annoying,.I agree too.
I didn’t see the Austin gypsy nor the princess
I remember these as a kid and teenager, man we drove round it shit cars!
All the Italian designed models were gorgeous - before Pinifarina with the exception of the mini they were all blobs
Ambassador, princess, 2200,1800, Maxi, Metro, Allegro, Montego??
The music sounds like from a silent hill game

What about 1100,1300gt, Princess, Ambassador............etc
You should revise this list you have missed a handful.
Hmm, the Issigonis "Austins" were strictly speaking Morrises (albeit with an Austin engine).
I am Aussie. all our mini's where Morris badged. My Dad liked English cars but I didn't follow his lead at all, I liked American V8 cars. although there were some I will admit were great..
Marcomanseckisax. You are right. For me as I know, it was the Morris mini minor and the Austin 7even in the beginning.
Austin made the Baby 7, it was Morris wo made the mini
I think it was B.M.C.
My Dad had an Austin A95 Countryman. Never hear of those now. 🤔
How about an interesting commentary instead of the noises that someone probably thinks is "music". Nice photos, but so little info about each of the models.
This would have been better if the cars had been shown in chronological order. Just my 2 c's.
"Full List"????? Afraid there's more missing than included
The Austin 12 1933 wouldn't be with out it for the world Herbert Austin would have been proud his cars are still going strong Nearly Ninety years after they were Built stood the test of time made to last! unlike the rubbish they make with robots now horrible and horrified come back 20th century!!
The Austin 10 & Austin Cambridge was quite popular in what is known today as Malaysia.
Also the Ranelagh a biggish car
true
Far from a full list !!
3:20 Be careful what you wear. Your face may be erased with the colour of your T-shirt.
Full List, FULL LIST??? Oh Dear, its so far short of a full list its laughable. Oh and the "full list" includes at least a couple that should not have been listed as full models, but are non Austin mods.

Know nothing of Austins.
Very ugly cars
Amazing Video.
Thank You very much.
