Well in the lore, Oro is like one of strongest character in the series. If not the best, he literally uses only 1 hand because he’s too strong. It’s great to see a powerful lore character to be also powerful in the game
One thing you didn't mention in the notes is that his hit grab is faster and has better reach now. From the oro players I've been watching EX hit grab has gained new life as a whiff punish because of it's speed and reach, which is nice.
@@uwufemboy5683 big buff on hit, but much more unsafe on block than it was. Used to be at max range it was hard to punish but not so much now. Still, I like the change, opens up lots of new possibilities
Minomushi can be used in matchups where the opponent has good anti fireball tools like blanka and balrog instead of onibi since it wouldn't do anything there.
Oro I feel your enjoyment of this character in V hinges on if you’re ok with him just not being the same. For me the gutted feel of his double jump, cross up nerf, launcher nerfs from 3S and needing to land both hits bothers me too much. But if pedantic stuff like that doesn’t bother you then I can see why this just sounds like whining. I think it’s still great capcom remembered old man McScrotum face even if his character added nothing story wise, and I’m really glad he took off. He was really a pretty niche character that very few people actually gave a damn about in three but V having him be really popular especially the competition he had with Akira is sick.
What sucks is if vt1 got properly buffed i can see it being good in certain match ups. It being 2 bars and an actual command grab can be very strong as is. For characters like cammy who would jump or v reversal a lot i can see vt1 being somewhat useful. It wouldn't even need any damage or conversion buffs, literally just an extra use and letting you choose which side they land on with the slams would be plenty useful and can even make it worthwhile over stones if its a low health character or an easily conditioned player, not to mention having a 2 bar trigger ready when the opponent is already close to death can sometimes be the difference between a likely win and a guaranteed win.
Hm, maybe they should've given his VT1 a crazy buff in duration. Let him do like 15 grabs or something - not sure if even a buff like that would make it a reasonable choice over VT2.
First off, nice name for the crescent kick. I hear a lot of people call it a Tatsu, when it has nothing in common with a Tatsu. The change to MK Tatsu is pretty good-it's about as close as Oro will get to a reliable knockdown I guess. Also, I can hear you and Brian_F laughing in the background. I take it you like the changes for Oro?
People tend to call things based on their inputs rather than the move itself. Any qcb kick motion in this game is called a tatsu. And tbh, Im sure im not the only one who sees a moves official name in the patch notes and goes wtf is that? Even for characters I main its hard to remember if its not called something like elbow slash or spiral arrow.
It really sucks for the final update that they just ignored VT1, it’s not just the stones being so good, it’s genuinely just such a crappy v trigger and it’s like they didn’t care to buff it since the stones are just synonymous with Oro’s character in general
superbe and interesting character... However Oro sucks bug time in neutral conversion and lacks true strong neutral punishes. So he's not easy to play. However his VT2 is probably the best VT of the whole game now.
Goddamn I love Oro. He is a fun character. But the the removal of Oro fast fall trick is a major gripe I have. Like Urien and Cody, Oro is defined by his v-Trigger (specifically Stones, Trigger 1 is garbage) so more time on Stones would have been appreciated.
Tengu stones were already so strong pro players like Brian F and Broski were saying pre-patch that it would be fine to nerf them, so long as he was made more solid outside of trigger. He was made more solid outside of trigger and they still didn't nerf stones lol, but in no world did they need to be better.
Oro went from the old guy in the retirement home, to put YOU into the retirement home
He became the guy from "Call an ambulance, but NOT FOR ME"
Well in the lore, Oro is like one of strongest character in the series. If not the best, he literally uses only 1 hand because he’s too strong. It’s great to see a powerful lore character to be also powerful in the game

Oro's EX grab be like... 'get over here!'
@@scotter7663 yup mk style
Some players note that Charge HP leads to MP and MK crescent kick leaves you in range for a throw, not sure if this was already possible
The crescent kick did not leave you anywhere near throw range before, and now it can force a guess mid-screen. Such a big buff

The grab v trigger should have got more sauce. There's just no reason to ever pick it over the stones. Same thing for his jump v skill
Minomushi can be used in matchups where the opponent has good anti fireball tools like blanka and balrog instead of onibi since it wouldn't do anything there.
This is a really great example of how seemingly insignificant changes can be massive in practice.
I like how this kinda became an impromptu Oro guide.
Can't wait for everyone on earth to send this to Brian F today 😂

oRRRRRRRRRRRo.
Judging from the length, the legends were true. Baf-san did indeed abandon da sakz for gold-gold.
Oro finally! Thanks Baf.
Oro got some nice buffs that make him even more fun to play (and watch) and maybe more tournament viable?
If they removed his VT1, no one would notice.
Man they really gave Oro a *better* way to get into VT2, rather than buff VT1 at all. Did they really just want no one to ever use VT1?
I litteraly cannot find another justification as well

Why is oro starin at me like that in the thumbnail.
Air EX stomp? I think you mean EX chicken legs.
ex dale wilson
I refuse to call that move anything other than Chicken Legs.
Look at them legs! They only see leg day.
I always thought it was "chicken stomp"?
Where'd this name come from btw?
@@scotter7663 Not quite sure. I heard it from Brian F but it could've been from someone else, too.
I just dont get why they didnt buff vt1
no one was gonna use it anyway
not saying they shouldn't have buffed it more than they did but it was never gonna be as good or as fun as vt2
@@bencrandall-malcolm8303 Sadly if they were gonna change it they would have to meet in the middle. Beff vt1, nerf vt2, since it is so far ahead.

Vt2 would still be better by a Mile
I like how this is the only patchnotes video where the default color isn't used
Sakura video didn't use default color and the Blanka video used Blanka-chan
This is Baf’s color when he uses Oro in 3S, they carried it over to this game
A lot of these changes feel like things Oro should have been able to do from the jump.

baf repping his color
They really gave Oro all these buffs and didnt touch VT2s damage. Capcom pls.
Are we gonna see more Baf Oro now that he has been buffed?
