About the volcano, Mt. Pinatubo is a dormant volcano, too. So, it was a real shock when it erupted. It even buried towns in lahar (volcanic ash).

Arguably, the most famous and prolific UA-cam vlogger in the country is Wil Dasovich. He is a Filipino-American who has a Filipina mom and grew up in the United States. Currently, he is based in the Philippines, making vlogs with his Vlog Squad which includes his sister Haley, best friend Daniel, and former Pinoy Big Brother co-contestant Baninay.
Though he already has tons of videos on his channel, do check out the ones in his 'A Filipino American Family' playlist where you can learn a lot about the culture, get to know important Filipino values, and basically get some context about daily life in the Philippines presented in a unique and humorous way. Enjoy!

If you ever want to live in the Philippines, Palawan is the place to go. Not as populated as other areas, its the last frontier of the Philippines. Its the place where forest cover is still high and protected. No earthquake faults nearby. Strorms/ hurricanes extremely rare to pass by. Very little to No pollution. And its the place you see in a lot of videos having one of the best beaches and actually considered best island in the world according to one travel website. Plug over. lol

I remember the eruption of Mt Pinatubo. The 7 richter scale eathquake just before its eruption. The aftermath of its eruption was intense too. The ashfall lasted for weeks. The air outside was not safe to breathe. We did not go out the house. And if we did (like going to school), we did not leave without wearing a gas mask.

Hi to all our viewers and subscribers. As promised we are going to set errors straight in the post; and add some more cool facts about The Philippines, added by you!
    - Ferdinand Magellan was born in Portugal, circa 1480 - died 21 April 1521. He sailed under the Spanish Flag, and reached The Philippines on March 16 1521 (It will be the 496th anniversary this week). Magellan reached Homonhom Island, on the edge of The Philippines, and traded with the island king, Rajah Humabon, and they formed a bond. Magellan and his crew became involved in a war between Humabon, and a rival leader, and he was killed in battle.
    - The Philippines, or 'Las Isla Filipinas' was named after King Philip II of Spain. However, as one of our viewers pointed out he was still Crown Prince of Asturia, when The Philippines were named after him. King Philip II's (known as el Prudente/the Prudent), reign of Spain was from 1527 to 1598. He also reigned over Portugal, as King Philip I, from 1581 to 1598.
    - The Spanish ruled over The Philippines for 333 years. In 1898 The Spanish declared war on the United States of America. After The Battle of Manila, The US went on to rule The Philippines until...
    - In 1935 the US passed an "Act of Transition", to declare The Filipino Government independent. The war with Japan delayed this act, but The Philippines gained full sovereignty in 1946.
    - The eruption of Mt Pinatubo in 1991, caused a drop in global temperature of 1 degree fahrenheit, or 0.5 degrees Celcius. This was caused, by 20 million tons of sulfur dioxide being spewed into the atmosphere.
    - According to "touropia", 2016: SM Megamall, and The SM Mall of Asia rank in the "10 largest Malls in the World". In addition another 7 are found in the top 30. This can vary according to the research sources.
    - One of our readers informed us of this great fact! Manila's name is derived by the Tagalog name for a flowering mangrove plant: "Nila", and the Tagalog for "there is": "may". In Tagalog, Manila is spelled Maynila.
    - The Battle of the Phillipines Sea is said to be "The largest "aircraft carrier battle", in history".
    Some other corrections:
    - Pateros is not a city. It is a Municipality in Metro Manila.
    - We stated it was Camiguin Island, when in fact it was Panay.
    - The volcano shown was not Mount Pinatubo, but Mount Mayon.
    - Pinatubo is 91.1 km or 56.6 miles, from Manila.
    - According to the 2010 census & housing, by The Phillipines Statistics Authority, Quezon City has a population of 2.8 million people.
    - Manila has 42,857 people per sq km, according to the 2015 census.
    - The pearl featured is not called "The Palawan Princess" but "The Pearl of Puerto" or "Puerto Island Princessa".
Hope this helps to clarify things. Thank you for watching. Subscribe for more cool facts!

Huge malls: Mall of Asia (MOA), MegaMall and Trinoma.
Stay in Paranaque City, at Hyatt or near or around Resort World. The closer you get to Quezon City, the crazier it gets coz of traffic. Rockwell or Bonifacio Global City are good places to stay. Best time to go is around Christmas. January and February will be a little cooler, around 70F. Yeah that's cold there. Avoid summer which is March to end of May

Well, PH is blessed with its richest in minerals that's why other nations wants it. In regards with those nations who colonized the PH, Germany and SK wasn't invovled in the colonization of PH history, there were only 3 nations who colonized the PH; US, Japan, and Spain. Just to be clear, when i qoute "US, JAPAN, and SPAIN" i wasn't referring on it's citizens, I'm talking about the history here. Well no matter the color, religion and nation we have, we still share the same color of blood when we bleed.

We have a population growth rate problem. It is one of the world's highest. This is why former President Benigno S. Aquino III put the Reproductive Health Law into effect. I guess it's slowly affecting the couples in the hinterlands where sex education is very slow to penetrate. Would be nice of you both to finally visit the Philippines. It may have a high concentration of populations in major cities, but having 7,600+ islands, you're surely bound to bask on a secluded beach, with coconuts and mangoes in hand, and catch a tan.

[ PLEASE EXCUSE THE POLITICAL RANTS ], I STILL CANNOT BELIEVE THAT SUCH AN IGNORANT RACIST, WHO MALIGNED AND DISSED PRESIDENT OBAMA AND HIS FAMILY FOR 8 YEARS , IS NOW OCCUPYING OUR WHITEHOUSE.

Solaire is more of a Casino Hotel like Resorts worlds.
Huge malls are SM malls.. Megamall, North EDSA, Mall of Asia and the new one in Seaside Cebu city.
That video you watched has a lot of errors and the publisher/uploader corrected it himself 😯

-as per Philippine Islands Measurements Project, a special project conducted by the National Mapping and Resource Information Authority (NAMRIA) the latest count of the islands in the Philippines is 7,641 from the previous 7,107.
    - Spain began colonizing the Philippines in 1565 and ended in 1898 (333) years not 350.
    - and yes we could have been a US state before but so many object the idea.
    - try to watch Nicholas Cage film USS Indianapolis: Men of Courage i think that's the war he is telling.
    - the three largest SM Malls that are mentioned are SM Megamall, SM North EDSA and Mall of Asia, Solaire is a casino. and do the research about Ayala Malls
-you may want to research about Mt. Pinatubo eruption and see how devastating it is during that day.
-yup! that one is a PEARL.. that's why on the introduction of the video it says "PEARL OF THE ORIENT" Historically, the Philippines is known to be among the producer of pearls, and an important source of golden South Sea pearls. and having that big pearl imagine how big the mussel/clam is.

PS: Close to 40k subs, good job to both of you

Here's an article about the world's largest pearl www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-37167179
And also, the 3 huge malls referred to in the video is owned and run by the SM Group of Companies; started by the family patriarch Henry Sy - as of the April 2017 list of world's largest shopping malls - SM North EDSA (ranked 5th); SM Megamall (ranked 6th) and SM Seaside City Cebu (ranked 7th). However, SM also owns SM Tianjin (China) which is the 2nd largest shopping mall in the world.
