      I just figured it out. So using Ableton's Audio Effect Rack, drag it into your vocal channel, or whatever channel you're using. On the effect rack, press the macro button, it's the top button on the left. It's right under the yellow button that you press to activate or deactivate an effect. Anyways, back to the macro button. Press the minus symbol until you have 1 macro left. Now, drag in Utility from the audio effects into the rack. On the rack, press map (M) and now on the Utility effect press Gain and then on the macro press map on the bottom. Now you should be able to adjust the max and min values. I hope this helps.

    There’s no stock plug-in that can replicate a pultec eq or a 1176. Every eq and compressor sounds different so to say stock plugins do the same thing just isn’t true

    • @Churchfront
      @Churchfront  2 роки тому +4

      Right - even the stock EQ between Ableton and Pro Tools will be different, but with a good ear and mixing skills you can get them close enough to the point that no one listening to the live stream will hear any difference.

    Love this! I’ve been using Harrison Mixbus 32C with no additional plugins, and it’s great. I tried using Waves Tune RT, but too much overlap between handhelds and choir mics.

    I understand, that it's more about skill>gear, but also it sounds like "don't use this modern nice car, you can ride a horse, you will reach your destination as well!"

    • @hastyscorpion
      @hastyscorpion 2 роки тому

      I think it's more like "Don't use the Maserati, You can use this Toyota Corolla and you will reach your destination just as well." Ableton stock plugins for compression and EQ (which gets you 90 % of the way to a good live mix) are very good and do everything much more expensive emulators do. They just aren't as flashy. Same with the stock plug ins in Pro Tools, Logic and Reaper etc.

      @@hastyscorpion nah, I'll never go back from waves plugins to stock, the difference is huge. It's like "ah ok sound" and "wow, sounds great!"

    In favor of using more stock plug-ins than fancy stuff BUT, the Waves WLM is a great plug-in for making sure you actually nail the loudness your stream needs to be. There's tons of different presets that allow you to make sure your LUFs (loudness) is on target and CONSISTENT. I think there's even a UA-cam preset that would be perfect for possibly all streaming platforms.

    The content is great and you're great people but realistically this mix is not impressive at all and doesn't really help the argument for using stock plug-ins. I hate to say it but i really thought there'd be another before and after but unfortunately that was the mix i got to hear from you guys today

    Great video, Adam. I'm a subscriber to the Broadcast Mix Ministry and I don't remember seeing how you split the digital drum set into separate channels. We have a Roland, but it's output into one audio channel. Are there certain drum brains that you can individually split the outputs?

    • @secretstorymusic
      @secretstorymusic 2 роки тому +1

      Nearly all electronic kits will have a l/r output. Some of the high end options [i.e. TD-50] have separate outputs per drum.
      That said, Roland and others do a fantastic job of sampling, eq, space/air, feel in their patches. Additionally, there are both sensitivity adjustments and "in the box" mix adjustments that can be performed. You won't have the tweakability for each from [gates/eqs etc for snare, kick] but I know in our case we have only really scratched the surface on the tweaks in the box so we're going to stick with what we have until we completely outgrow it.

    Isn't having to worry about CPU load from plug ins counter-M1?? Why buy a M1 if you have to worry about those things?? You can worry about CPU load on Intel but cheaper and more compliant. Ijs🤷🏾‍♂️🥴

    Isn't chromatic vocal tuning like worse than no tuning at all? I mean does it work 100% correctly, as opposed to major/minor scale tuning?

    • @josiahsomers2508
      @josiahsomers2508 2 роки тому

      Then you would have to set the key for each song. Totally doable but an added step of complication.
      As long as your singers are close enough to the right notes then it will correct to the right notes.

    • @Churchfront
      @Churchfront  2 роки тому

      If vocalists are so far out of tune that they are closer to a wrong note than a correct note, yes - if someone's singing with a worship team they're usually more on pitch.

      It’s done over the CUE on Ableton Live. Think of it as if you had an PAFL button on an analog or digital mixing board. It’ll only go to your cans.

    • @jeremyryannoel

      If you have a digital console with USB, that’s the first place to check as it can be treated like an audio interface. There are other methods, but that’s the usual approach, or Dante if available. How you’re piping the audio to the broadcast is another story, and also depends on the console/switcher you’re using.

      not saying better or worse but seems like it is going to allow non EQed vocals through.
