- Ladderback jacquard is a way of handling longer floats in stranded knitting, without needing to catch the floats with the working yarn. This results in a smooth, elastic fabric with hardly any show-through on the right side of the work. Better yet, the technique makes it easier to keep an even knitting tension.
wow so enjoyed your tutorial .. will definitely be giving it a try . your instructions are amazing .
Thank you so much for your kind comments - I really appreciate them. I’m glad you enjoyed the tutorial and found my instructions helpful. It really is a great technique! I particularly like it because there is hardly any “show through” on the right side, and I find it keeps my knitting tension much more even. I think you’ll love it too!
Thanks for the tutorial. I am working on a project with 3 colors. It is two colors per round but two of the colors alternate rows. How do I manage them using this technique?
Hi, thank you for your comment. Apologies for the delay in getting back to you but I was on vacation. Although you can certainly use more than two colors using the ladderback jacquard technique, regarding your project, I'm not sure how helpful the technique would be to use on alternate rows. If you'd like to send me a photo of the chart/instructions you're working on, I'll try and figure it out for you. Feel free to email me at: cheryl@knittermatters.com
