Hey guys! I am a mom a grandma and a nurse. They're are 2 tricks I have learned that work like magic. Let me share them with you. 1. For stings... Put bleach on it. If it's a bee Sting, scrape out the stinger with a credit card or drivers license, then put bleach on it. The bleach doesn't have to stay on long. Maybe 20 seconds. Once the Sting has stopped rinse it off. Works like magic. I promise. We have used this for about 35 years. 2. For head bumps If your child falls and hits their head or face, grab a pat or piece of butter and rub it on. The kid won't fight it like they do ice. Ice hurts, its too cold. Rub it in for 30 to 60 seconds. It makes a huge difference. No bruising or tiny bruises when their eyes should be black. This works miracles too. Please share and please try ......
Al, when I had goats, I tried several different hay feeders. No feeder has the advantages that a key hold feeder has. Three small keyholes and a feeder near the fence. I had one sheet of plywood and six goats. A hole big enough for rage dies to get their heads through, then wide enough for their throats. They can eat the hay but not drag hay back onto the ground. Works like a dream. I sure wish I had your carpentry skills. God bless America.
My favorite things to watch on UA-cam is watching you build something Al. You’re very creative and you make everything so “pretty.” I really enjoy it. Thanks for sharing. God Bless ~Lisa
I really love your goat feeder its quite pretty!! The chickens in the truck are hillarious! My sick chick is 100% now! My best part of the day is feeding chickens! They all rush out to me and the food and go right back in for me! I'm so happy with my chicks thanks for being great inspiration! I dont think id have chicks in town if it wasn't for my favorite youtube people including you guys!
May I suggest taking those top hinges off the pig feeder and putting them on the other side? That way you don't have to either go INTO the pen, nor reach all the way around the top door to fill the feeder up. Also, ask mama to stich that ratchet strap for you, overlapping it and stitching it twice so it's nice and strong. LOVE the goat feeder, let us know if it works or not.
Great to have your carpentry skills and creative ideas. And the recycling. Will take you far on the homestead. You, Gina and Olivia make a team! Good to see DOWN HOME values alive and well. Have a great day!
i found that goats will pull hay out of rack to eat and won't eat what falls on floor,so i made a box under the rack to catch the hay.It works good for feeding grain also saving room it barn.
The pigs are sure growing. The cat is waiting to go outside. I still think you will wish you had two milk stands. The building projects look great. You are sure a tala tied carpenter. Thanks for sharing. God bless America.
Al your woodworking skills are top-notch. You could probably make a good living as a carpenter😂😂😂. When u seal the wood give the laminated joist extra coats. Great use of leftover material. Your goats are going to think they hit the lottery💰
You crack me up with the chickens! What is the guy with the funny hair do? I'm always making my husband follow your projects- we might have to make a stand so for the goats.
Gauud Mawnin Lumnah Acahs! A really well-crafted feeder that might be worth a video with a stock list. The excitement is growing to see the new creatures! God Bless
You build.some amazing things. Imagine what you could ldo with an actual work shop. You are definately in the right profession. I can hardly wait for the goats!!!!!!!!
Man it’s like watching a video of myself haha you and I use all the same tools, look the same and everything. Thanks for showing me how to build a manger!
looks like that design will work well. Just one thing my goats used to chew on everything. I had a makeshift wood one and they ate it so I switch to that metal one I had showed you. Which is like a horse feeder and we just put in a little bit at a time. We had only 4 goats at a time. But they loved to eat wood some more than others. My goats used to waste so much hay. They used to love to just pull out the hay. More than they could swallow and one bite. So the rest ends up on the floor.
Hey you could have classes for the things you build in addition to the pig butcher classes. Instead of a "Shared Summer Reading Program", you could have a shared build program. A build-along.
I've noticed since the chickens roam free now..even andy comes closer to you instead of being skittish😊 With all the pens laidout in various spots..the farm is really looking nice...Thats a smart goat feeder🐐🐄🐥🌱
When you don’t have a cutting table, use the back of your pick up truck. 😂 awesome. There is nothing stopping you and I love that type of thinking. 👍👏👏👏
good job on the feeder. i have usually seen the slats on the side going up at an angle like your bee hive. I think your design will help hold the hay in better. good luck.
I love that rooster, he’s a plucky little guy! pun intended. i’m waiting for the day you go to work and discover a chicken in the back of the truck, lol. Andy is such a handsome fella, he really reminds me of a muppet. anyone else think so? do chickens like the color red? or maybe they know thats the feed wagon, lol. have a great weekend family.
Hey Al, do you have the amazon link for your pressure cooker? I want to buy one and would like you to get your bonus. Maybe you could do a kitchen tools vid this winter when things slow down.
The balance of functionality and character that you apply to so many of your builds is very pleasing and this feeder is certainly no exception. Something to be proud of! Will you be applying the same sort of tung oil protection to this structure as you did with the stanchion? I was wondering the other day whether it might be worth also applying it to the gate posts to extend their lifetime? Nice build and I'm excited about seeing the goats soon arrive! :) 🐐
Great design and as always wonderful carpentry! Your new goats should love their new home! Whatever happened to the 2 big black bears in yesterday's video? My son lives in Washington state and has several acres of wooded land. He left for work last week and there was a "teenage" bear that walked out of the woods just outside of his drive to his road. Wow, it was his first sighting. As I think about this there is a lot of dangerous wildlife that wouldn't be afraid of a three-year-old or any other adult. Being aware and armed for danger might be something to think about. You can't be too careful especially if you have children, wives and farm animals.
I don't know if that overhang will be good enough for the goats or not. They REALLY don't like getting wet! LOL I've seen where a goat and a horse were in the same pasture when a storm started to roll in. At the first sign of a sprinkle the goat hightailed it to the barn, when it started pouring in sheets the horse strolled towards the barn. 😄
Do you have a feeder for there grain pellets? Also, I think that you will want to turn your milking stand the other way and have a ramp with rubber on it so they can just walk straight in and run up and not slip. Just an idea.
Completely random questions here... I know you've got a new group of hens for egg laying in one of your mobile coops. How long does a chicken live, and how long do they continue to lay eggs? I'm really fond of your group now, because they follow you around. It's adorable. :)
Awesome work sir. I had seen someone do the same thing on the slants. Awesome to have a resource for a future build that I have to do. I am hoping to have a few goats before the end of summer to help groom the land clean. My property is overgrown with poison ivy and I get it just looking at it. Thanks for a great idea. Thank you for what you are doing here on youtube.
cant wait to see the goats, they are milk or meat or both? What breed? I want to get some Spanish or Kiko or Spanish/Kiko mix...but what I want and what I eventually get is always something different.....for meat and maybe some fiber from the Spanish (I want to try harvesting fiber some day).
The feeder is great looking. You are like my hubby-he thinks about what he wants to build and builds it. As they say-you wing it. Have a Blessed Day!

Good morning modern homestead family! Al you are one handy man.
Another good job I wouldn’t expect anything but a good job you do excellent work you and the Mrs. God bless
Your videos are funny and awesome when the animals get into all the things you are doing too. Love watching all your videos.
My favorite things to watch on UA-cam is watching you build something Al. You’re very creative and you make everything so “pretty.” I really enjoy it. Thanks for sharing. God Bless ~Lisa
Glad to see Andy is doing well you should make him your mascot
I really love your goat feeder its quite pretty!! The chickens in the truck are hillarious! My sick chick is 100% now! My best part of the day is feeding chickens! You make everything look so easy.😊
great craftsmanship and using what you have!
Once again your attention to detail makes something not only functional, but look great as well! R.I.P ratchet strap. You served Al well...
That's a nice hay feeder. Good job.
Awesome job, you sure know how to recycle items for good use! 🐓🐓🐓
i found that goats will pull hay out of rack to eat and won't eat what falls on floor,so i made a box under the rack to catch the hay.It works good for feeding grain also saving room it barn.
Man! Those are some lucky goats! You are making a really nice home for them as you do for all your critters.
It's kind of cute how your chickens want to hang out with you.
It cracks me up, they or at least one of them is always getting in the truck, too funny! I agree, it's cool how they like hanging around.
You crack me up with the chickens! What is the guy with the funny hair do? I'm always making my husband follow your projects- we might have to make a stand so for the goats.
I like how you used the metal triangle with the circular saw.
I love the tailgate and clamp hack for cutting! We don't have a table saw so that will work great. Thanks!
Gauud Mawnin Lumnah Acahs! A really well-crafted feeder that might be worth a video with a stock list. The excitement is growing to see the new creatures! God Bless
You’ve got some mad skills!
You build.some amazing things. Imagine what you could ldo with an actual work shop. You are definately in the right profession. I can hardly wait for the goats!!!!!!!!
Yup your right hay on ground they won't touch and that one of the better feeder.
Nice Job, I like the slanted slats, it does look cool.
Great job, works for small calves too.
Al, take those little scraps of joist beams and make a mineral/salt feeder for the goats.
Very nice feeder. I love your feathered audience. So interested in everything your doing.
Man it’s like watching a video of myself haha you and I use all the same tools, look the same and everything. Thanks for showing me how to build a manger!
You did a nice job on the feeder.
looks like that design will work well. Just one thing my goats used to chew on everything. I had a makeshift wood one and they ate it so I switch to that metal one I had showed you. Yes is looks very cool. Good job
Nice looking feeder, good to use up stuff you got laying around to, Best part is it's free.
Wow, that goat feeder is great!! You should build and sell those!
I LOVE how the pigs were afraid of you early on, and now they come running to you. Spoiled babies!
Hey you could have classes for the things you build in addition to the pig butcher classes. Instead of a "Shared Summer Reading Program", you could have a shared build program. A build-along.
WoW AL nice job. I used old Cattle Panels instead of the balisters you made. The goats seem to like it, and they can't climb up and mess on the hay
I've noticed since the chickens roam free now..even andy comes closer to you instead of being skittish😊
With all the pens laidout in various spots..the farm is really looking nice...Thats a smart goat feeder🐐🐄🐥🌱
Looking good! You are such a great handiman!! Love seeing the homestead coming together
Love how you use your tailgate as a work bench. Just the right height :)
It comes in so handy. I hope I dont cut it one of these times! Lol
Your uniquely designed hay feeder for your goats looks great! Can't wait to see your goats and how well they like their new feeder!
Nice job on the goat feeder, the slats going opposite direction looks great. 😊
Man! Your work is awesome!
Nice work! Love all of your animals and am looking forward to seeing the goats!
Great looking feeder
very nice build, i enjoyed the video very much.
Cool really like the feeder
That turned out fantastic!
Blessings ~
I like the slats the way you made them. Very pretty. 👍 from partly cloudy Arizona. 92/78f and 15% chance of rain today, 80% tomorrow.☔
Great job on your goat feeder. So excited to see your goats!!!
When you don’t have a cutting table, use the back of your pick up truck. 😂 awesome. There is nothing stopping you and I love that type of thinking. 👍👏👏👏
Very interesting. I love your videos.
That looks great! I would totally buy something like that.
it looks good the hay feda 👍👍
It's crazy to see green grass in your videos when all years it's been mud.
You keep furnishing that goat shed and I know an old goat in Colorado looking to relocate LOL
You always have an entourage when working outside, LOL! I love that goat feeder, nice job!! ~~Leslie
Very nice. I wish you had a link for people to purchase from you.
You are so talented. Great job!
Nice build
That is one solid feeder. Goats love to climb they won't destroy that.
good job on the feeder. i have usually seen the slats on the side going up at an angle like your bee hive. I think your design will help hold the hay in better. good luck.
Al that feeder looks cool. I have to make one but I can't do such a good job with wood. I might use wire.
Super nice goat feeder you just built, if you bought that it would have cost a pretty penny! Excited to see the goats, have a great wk end!
Just got my Lumna Acres shirt thanks
I enjoy watching you build things. You make it look so easy but I know it's not. I can't cut a straight line!
time for a deck project!
That is sweet
Awesome!
Hey Al, do you have the amazon link for your pressure cooker? I want to buy one and would like you to get your bonus. Maybe you could do a kitchen tools vid this winter when things slow down.
I like your hat.
Al, when are you building a barn/shop to work in and for storage? Tim
I am going to leave the wood on the feeder alone. I am hoping that the roof will be enough to keep the wood from the weather
Great design and as always wonderful carpentry! Your new goats should love their new home! Whatever happened to the 2 big black bears in yesterday's video? That's chain really cool feeder.
you need a deck for your house!!! when you building it? lol and those ducks are awesome you should get more
no that we have had the land cleared we keep telling each other we need the deck now! Lol
Lol its too funny. I wonder why goats dont like the rain that much
Yep, goats think they'll melt with any water! LOL!
That feeder is practically a work of art, but it's really a work of Al; Art just wishes he could do that. ;^)
How many Roosters do you have on your farm ? You are a really excellent craftsman!
Al I wanted to ask you a question do you eat that free range organic whitetail deer
Do you have a feeder for there grain pellets? Also, I think that you will want to turn your milking stand the other way and have a ramp with rubber on it so they can just walk straight in and run up and not slip. Just an idea.
I love it.

Any chance we could get some measurements on this feeder?
Nice job. Where did you get the plans to build this. I think I want to build one like this.
Why not reverse the hinges on the pig feeder so thed lid opens away from you?
Awesome work sir. I had seen someone do the same thing on the slants. Awesome to have a resource for a future build that I have to do. I am hoping to have a few goats before the end of summer to help groom the land clean. My property is overgrown with poison ivy and I get it just looking at it. Thanks for a great idea. Thank you for what you are doing here on youtube.
Sweet!
Bird sounds like a Raven
Those pigs are so smart, interactive and cute. I couldn’t raise them and then eat them. I’d be too attached
how is it for ease of loading the hay?
I wish I had your carpentry skills.
Ladies dig your truck
Have you found any eggs in the bed of your truck or on your tractor yet? My chickens left them there plenty of times!
What's your spacing on the 2x2's
cant wait to see the goats, they are milk or meat or both? What breed? I want to get some Spanish or Kiko or Spanish/Kiko mix...but what I want and what I eventually get is always something different.....for meat and maybe some fiber from the Spanish (I want to try harvesting fiber some day).
