  • Surf Lakes launched its official corporate video.
    Its purpose is to highlight the benefits and competitive advantages of Surf Lakes' 5 Waves technology to potential licensees.
    Testing and live demonstrations have been continuing with success at the R&D facility in Yeppoon, Central Queensland.
    The Australian wave pool company is hosting several licensee groups from the USA, UK, Australia, and New Zealand.
    "Interest is so strong from around the world that we will be hosting more demonstrations to licensees in December 2019 and January 2020," underlines Surf Lakes.
    At the moment, these sessions are closed to the media.
    The artificial wave pool developers say that they have several groups who have signed a Heads of Agreement with Surf Lakes to construct a commercial surf lagoon facility in their respective areas.
    "While the prototype facility has been pumping out perfect waves now for a while, our goal is to build a commercial facility open to the public as soon as possible," the company adds.
    "We hope to be able to start this process in the coming months with several groups eager to start in early 2020."
    "Until a commercial site is up and running, we will continue to operate the prototype site and do regular demonstrations for licensees, shareholders, media, and special guests. It is also being used to develop our training and safety systems."
    Surf Lakes promises more surf breaks than any other wave pool, the largest variety of peaks, the highest user capacity (2,000 waves per hour), the largest wave height, and no machinery or fences next to the surfers.

    Its not as big as I expected, but honestly everything around it looks amazing.The nice clear water, the machine itself, the way the wave breaks, the amount of waves and probably the cost. It does not replace the ocean, it could never. But we have periods of weeks with no swell around here, I would rather go here then DO NOTHING at all. For the Netherlands/Belgium/Germany/Northeast Engeland something like this could have real potential because of our lack of regular swell

      They don't show you how long it takes for the water to calm down enough to get those nice shots of the first couple waves. The interference by the returning water will create one hell of a chop if you run these waves continuously. That's basic physics. The reset may be less than slater's wave, but it's definitely there. plus the amount of energy to create 5 waves is equal to 5 times the energy to create one wave. They're skipping out talking about that part too.

A lot of people have to haul a boat to a reservoir in the mountains here to do surfing behind boats. There isn't any other easy way to a beach. Most of the resevoir beaches here are packed in the summer bc there aren't enough sites for people to enjoy a beach.

    30 surfers per break. Is it every man for themselves or will there be order in the line up?

    • @surfertoday

      Part of our testing is to work out the priority system. Will then provide this to licensees and train them on it. Each break does 300 + waves per hr so 30 surfers will get 10 waves per hr each.

    The wave starts off with good energy for the first 4 or 5 meters of the ride and then looks to run out of juice. I needs to be 3 or 4 times the size to start off with and then something needs to be done so the wave sustains energy as it moves down the line. Perhaps A wave starting off with this 5 waves technology and then as the wave peters out there is a back up wave machine that completes the ride.
    To be honest. It looks fun but it is a long long way behind Waco, Melbourne and Lemore wave pools.

    • @surfertoday
      @surfertoday  5 років тому +1

      Probably. But we're not sure whether the center system is always pumping waves or not. Probably not, otherwise waves would behave differently and eventually overlap themselves. But we could be wrong. ;)

    • @reubenbuchanan742
      @reubenbuchanan742 5 років тому +2

      Yes thats correct. The system lifts it up, then it falls down under gravity into the water which drives out the wave. As its buoyant it then bobs back up again. The system them drives it further for the next stroke. We do 4 to 6 strokes in a row only. The lake settles in about 1min and we can then run another "set"
