There are 2 amazing barbarian armors in act 1 and 2. One is dropped by the underdark Bullet and grants you wrath when you get hit and the other one is sold by the bugbear merchant in moonrise towers and grants you 2 extra con and you 2 turns of wrath whenever you rage. They both count as clothing so the barbarians passive grants you extra ac based on your con bonus
The one that gave a you wrath on hit is top tier and probably the best one you can find. You can abuse that by using the warding bond rings and other things. The damage just keeps stacking. Furthermore, if you use the tiger wildheart's cleave, that damage isn't halved, but shared across all hit units.
Started playing in PC a month ago. Thought it's tedious as heck (and I'm used to play rts games) then after 2 weeks I returned to it using a controller and I can't put it down. Lol. I haven't even started modding it (I plan to), just getting through the base game 1st (and maybe different playthroughs using the base game.) I think I'll be playing for a while. Lol
Since Berserker no longer gives exhaustion it's actually a viable subclass now. There's a Pike of Returning that returns to your hand upon throwing so you can throw it as a bonus action with Enraged Throw, knock the enemy down, then move in for free advantage. The pike is found by trading with Grat the Trader at the goblin camp.
It's down-right broken when you use it for a throwing build with Tavern Brawler (though that says more about TB than about the Berserker) I've been having a lot of fun with melee Great Weapon Master Berserkers myself. The GWM bonus action attack is a good way to slow down the Berserker's accuracy loss during Frenzy. And the dialogue options are straight-up brilliant
Little surprised that multi class with fighter didn't get a nod, barbarian can get a lot of use out of action surge. It isn't as interesting as some other combos, but it's reliable.
9 tiger wild heart 3 assassin half-orc give a bump to crits from both half-orc and barbarian plus auto-crit on the first turn from assassin. Tiger bloodlust lets you hit multiple enemies with each attack.
Would be quite good with BOOOAL's blessing How does Tiger's Bloodlust interact with Sneak Attack (if you use Dancing Breeze or one of the finesse longswords)?
Wild Magic Barbarian is always fun. Definitely on my list to play. A dumb yet interesting idea is 3 Warlock (pact of blade) 9 Wild Magic Barbarian. Armor Agathys and free pact weapon. Cast then go into a rage with temp HP.
After you get a little bit into the game, have some gold/resources... Stock up on Elixir's of Hill/Cloud Giant Strength. They increase your strength to 21/27 respectively (Cloud giant tends to only be in act 3) so if you use these constantly, you can dump your strength into another stat. Finished my first playthrough as a barbarian with a natural 8 in strength. Long rests don't *seem* to affect anything other than restocking the shops. So rest, shop, rest, shop, rest, shop, etc. until you have all the elixirs/potions/scrolls/arrows you want, need or can afford.
I've always loved Wild Magic Barbarian, but there's sadly a change from 5e that makes it a bit clunkier than it should be. In 5e, when you wild magic rage and gain an effect that says something like "Use a bonus action each turn to do x," it lets you immediately perform that bonus action on that turn, as part of the rage bonus action. Where as in bg3, you have to wait until your next turn to use it. So say you get the wild magic that lets you teleport with each bonus action. In 5e, you could teleport immediately after raging. In bg3, you have to wait until your next turn to teleport. I hope Larian changes this, as taking 3 lvls in Thief Rogue wouldn't really be worth it just for this, especially since you lose out on Unstable Backlash.
I'm mostly upset by the other changes, not that one since the teleportation would technically depend on the DM since the wording is still as a bonus action and you use your rage as your bonus action. I would understand being mad at the changes to these effects: "Shadowy tendrils lash around you. Each creature of your choice that you can see within 30 feet of you must succeed on a Constitution saving throw or take 1d12 necrotic damage. You also gain 1d12 temporary hit points." "Flowers and vines temporarily grow around you; until your rage ends, the ground within 15 feet of you is difficult terrain for your enemies." It's not supposed to affect our allies but in BG3 it does.
@@lordmarwolaeth4570 The exact wording on the teleportation one is "You teleport up to 30 feet to an unoccupied space you can see. Until your rage ends, you can use this effect again on each of your turns as a bonus action." The wording of Wild Surge says "roll to determine the magic effect produced," as in what happens immediately. But yeah they are some hard nerfs, and frustrating that you have to separate your barbarian just in case you happen to get one of the few harmful ones.
@@dustinzhane7329Yeah same I tried it and it wasn't for me. Berserker was really strong early on but getting to act 2 and lv7 and 8 made wildheart a lot better. Eagle + Stallion is nice specially with the gloves that allow you to jump on dash allowing you to get up places and proning enemies for easy disarms OR The one that is imo the strongest option tiger + wolverine. Tiger is a guaranteed bleed which makes it really easy to break concentration and apply some other effects like diseases, the attack is AOE which becomes quite necessary in act 2 onwards and even though the weapon damage is halved any other damage applied to the hit is not so in reality is a lot higher than half damage and bleed adds another 2+2 damage anyway. With wolverine you can lock down ranged enemies and if you take the halberd from act 2 and polearm master you can completely stop melee enemies in their tracks because the maimed is guaranteed as well, combo that with an eldritch blaster user and you can bleed and maime 2/3 enemies and then knock them back, any other knock back works as well like the one from fighter manoeuvre. Tiger + tiger also makes you more accurate but overall I would say it has inferior potential
8:18 I had never been in touch with DnD gameplay before, and made my first character a Wild Heart Barbarian. During character creation I thought to myself "Melees should have movement", and I have taken Elk first, Half Wood Elf... I later changed to Eagle, for bonus action dash (pairs well with "on dash, gain Momentum" helmet - or boots). I am only level 5, but so far I had combats where I ran 50meters and still had my attack available that round, and in one round I Eagle Striked a poor guy multiple times by running up the cliff behind him, diving, running back up, and diving again. Yes, this is FUN! (Especially considering a turn is supposed to be 6 seconds... just imagine someone running up a cliff and jumping on you TWICE in 6 seconds...)
14:04 Sounds like a good build for Karlach. Started out as a Barbarian in the Blood War, now she's starting down a new path while still keeping that same focus on Aggressive Combat while pursuing evil bastards.
I'd just add that the 6 levels of Wild Magic Barbarian and 6 levels of Battlemaster works really well. You still get the 3 feats so you can get Strength to 20 and still get Great Weapon Master, and the combination of GWM, Action Surge, Reckless Attack and Battlemaster attacks means you can dish out truly frightening amounts of damage in a single turn - especially if you get a good roll on the Wild Magic Rage effect.
I just finished a Barb game and i was 12 lvls in beastial heart for tiger rage and the tiger passive for double attack mod to hit. Cleaving with over a +10 to hit is INSANE
I mever would have expected throwing to be so good. Normally i don't play a barb type build but its been so fun yelling at people and chucking javelins at people.
Honestly Tiger rage with the aoe bleeding cleave attack into Tiger aspect at level 6 is pretty bonkers, adding double strength damage, and it seems to stack with a very strong late game two handed sword that adds you strength AGAIN for triple dip, +18 damage just from strength alone is pretty bonkers, +34 with GWM bonus and +3 from the weapon and the +3 rage bonus.
I really wish the additional rage damage scaled a bit better (like it does in Pathfinder). Plus 2 damage at level 1 is way better than plus 3 at level 12. Also, crossing my fingers that they’ll add Storm Herald barbarian at some point 🤞🏻
I kinda wanna see an Assassin's Creed build with Eagle Heart lol, probably not the most effective but just fun to think about diving off cliffs onto enemies with no fall damage
I'm playing my first playthrough now as a wild magic barb and it's fucking awesome. Plus, being able to proficiently use any weapons I pick up is nice. I haven't played a single player game in prolly 7 years, and I can not put this game down. I took vacation time off work so I would have 12 uninterrupted days to play this game. I also bought some cocaine so I wouldn't have to waste time eating or sleeping 😂 I'm having a blast
How about LvL4 Berserker Barb and LvL8 Battlemaster Fighter? You get frenzy, reckless attack, frenzied attack, extra action, second wave, action surge, superiority die for menacing attack, trip attack (as you can already push with barb) and riposte. This is the one I am going for atm. Just achieve Lvl5 barb for extra attack and when you get to level 8 switch to Level5 fighter and Lvl3 Barb. Then pick one more barb lvl for the feat and go fighter for the rest. You also get fighter's lvl 6 feat so its 4 feats in total not 3. Champion Fighter would not be that good as you can crit easily with spells like hold monster and hold person anyway. So extending crit range by one point is inferior to superiority dies you get with battlemaster.
I think I finally settled on a gold Dragonborn Wildheart barb/Draconic Bloodline sorc as a main. A lot of fire damage and the designs on Dragonborn with the draconic bloodline stuff looks really cool.
Movement speed doesn't matter for Barbs. They can basically jump where ever they're needed from the word "go"; not to mention they get bonus to movement speed later down the line.

I wouldn't say the wild magic is always positive. I had one trigger, sucking the life from nearby creatures, that killed and NPC I was attempting to rescue
My Karlarch became a level 4 Berserk / level 8 Champion (for the juicy feats, ability score, sentinel, tavern brawler, polearm master) I think this is still roleplay friendly. Wildheart might be better in some cases but i don`t think that Karlarch has a deep connection to animals. After receiving this fantastic trident in Act3, throwing around this thing twice is just devastating.
I am playing with a 4x Barbarian party (4x Wildheart, jumping between Eagle and Tiger Bestial Heart) and I'm shocked by the versatility of the "dumbest" class in the game. Barb may have a very linear gameplan (1. Rage 2. swing 3. keep swinging until the screaming stops) but it is really, really, REALLY good at the things it does well. You have relatively weak AoE (though Tiger cleave helps) and ranged (though Throwing helps and you're usually not stuck at ranged for long), and very little magic synergy since Rage locks you out of it, but all of those flaws are quite minor cause your single-target damage is through the ROOF. And having Elixir of Bloodlust just doubles your killing power against hordes because you can just killstreak squishy mobs to offset your relative lack of AoE. About the only weakness to this extreme(ly awesome) party is that your CHA will be pretty weak the whole game even if you have multiple dump stats later in the game. So if you want to talk your way through conflict with NPCs or companions, you're generally not gonna be very good at anything other than Intimidation, and even then not quite as good as a CHA-focused character even with Guidance. This is very much a Choose Violence party (but it's very, very, VERY good at violence).
Lw 12 barb with stallion aspect = 24 hp that is doubled because of rage so every round that's like 48 heal Or better yet 8 lw in barb and 5 in rogue thief for 2 bonus actions.
... What? If your constitution is 20 and your dexterity is 16 you'd have 18 AC. Those same skills with Yuan Ti armor early in act 2 provide the exact same AC with the extra bonuses that the armor provides. And I'd much rather have 20 dex and 16 con instead, which would boost my AC to 20 at that point with that armor and making me have a better hit chance. You're just wrong.
True, but it requires a very high Constitution attribute for this to be true. For instance, a Breastplate+1 gives 15 AC(medium armor), which means you need 20 Constitution to equal it, if your Dexterity is 14 or lower.
@@Mebsutahe's not just wrong. You're also gaining the benefits from higher con saving throws, concentration, more HP which increases your EHP even further than just armor. You're the one that's wrong. And you can get your con and dex to 20 if you go for a dex melee barb, which is viable in bg3. There are also finesse weapons that you can get GWM with that scale with dex. Is he still wrong?
No other game has scratched my barbarian dwarf role play itch like baldurs gate 3. First playthrough I killed Astarion because we don’t rock with vampires. Also killed Karlach because I trusted my boy Wyll too much.
Man, of course the guide comes out the day after I make my barb. What makes it funny though was the fact I was looking for a guide for Barb from you. Cause I was convinced I had watched one before. Thankfully my stats were around the same you used, just I had 17 str, 13 dex, and 16 con.
Turned Karlach heavy berserker she can still use frenzied strike so can attack three times a turn at level 8. While medium she was taking way too much damage im happier with heavy with mostly inferno gear and helm from grym she became so tanky.
Fighter is probably better in combat just because you wind up doing more attacks (three normal attacks plus action surge once per short rest iirc). But you can bridge the gap as a barbarian if you want by multiclassing a couple levels into fighter to get action surge.
Dex bath is really nothing to dismiss, you gain higher AC, can actually use ranged weapons and arrows effectively, can rock a rapier and shield and most importantly reduce your MAD so you only need to care about two scores rather than 3
You can still use a shield+rapier with a strength build. Finesse simply allows you to choose the best of Str or Dex. Strength does give you longer jumps, more powerful shoves, the ability to lift(and throw) heavy objects, more carry capacity, and is fundamental on a Berserker if you intend to throw stuff(including enemies into other enemies). You do not really lack ranged attacks, when throwing objects deal the amount of damage that they do(which is to say, a lot). Dexterity builds provides better AC and Initiative, but otherwise have less utility(on a Barbarian). If you want a Dexterity martial class build, pick Fighter or Ranger.
I really like how simple and straight forward barbarian is, though my favourite subclass is Wild Heart, and that's a shame. "Change your bestial heart" as mainly the only levelling option (alongside some good passives) sucks so much. Why aren't there branching improvements from every bestial heart with some more attacks or spells or buffs...? Kind of underwhelming.
Bear Heart is my favorite on Wild Heart. Resistance to all damage except psychic is amazing. I keep my barbarian's AC a bit lower than the rest of my parties AC on purpose. The computer hardly ever attacks my wizard or rogue and always goes for the barbarian because of it. With the large Hp pool and damage resistance, the barbarian can take it no problem. Makes encounters easy when all the enemies go for one character.
A great example of why premade systems (like DnD) are awful for CRPGs. If you pick anything other than berserker youre actively trolling yourself and theres 0 chance of sh. getting balanced because hurr durr thats how it is in the original rules.

@@helsharidy123 yes, most certainly.
Can you make a guide for dummies?
No other game has scratched my barbarian dwarf role play itch like baldurs gate 3.
First playthrough I killed Astarion because we don’t rock with vampires. Also killed Karlach because I trusted my boy Wyll too much.
Man, of course the guide comes out the day after I make my barb. What makes it funny though was the fact I was looking for a guide for Barb from you. Cause I was convinced I had watched one before. Thankfully my stats were around the same you used, just I had 17 str, 13 dex, and 16 con.
This breakdown is not nearly as useful as it should be. I can't believe that all of the choices of the Wild Heart are left totally unexplained.
Turned Karlach heavy berserker she can still use frenzied strike so can attack three times a turn at level 8. While medium she was taking way too much damage im happier with heavy with mostly inferno gear and helm from grym she became so tanky.
rage should always be active if you're taking aggro. it reduces damage fantastically.
2:25 me as a gold dwarf barbarian…
Error, ti use sneak attack must have a finesse weapon, so great sword cannot do the trick
How does Barb compare to fighter after lvl 5? Also who is stronger in the higher levels? Thanks.
If you multiclass Barb/Monk, do you get to add *both* Con and Wis to AC? That'd be pretty sick, right there!
no it doesn't stack, unfortunately
I’m trying to come up with a Barbarian/Wizard combo but don’t know what to do.
Any advice?
Don't. You can't cast or concentrate during rage.
This My Play Style Hard Hitting
Half orc barbarian fighter ✅
So you like how simple and straight forward the class is, but you dislike how simple and straight forward Wild Heart subclass is?
@@fendelphi At least one or two attacks more based on the Wild Heart chosen, not asking that much XD
is there any bg3 full review ?
its so hard to find.....
This is totally random. Can i completley avoid druids grove and go straight to the goblin camps ?
Yes, but why?
My dudes, it's a barbarian. You press rage and attack. Don't overthink it. You don't even choose anything on most level ups.
Finallllllly!! Lol
A great example of why premade systems (like DnD) are awful for CRPGs.
If you pick anything other than berserker youre actively trolling yourself and theres 0 chance of sh. getting balanced because hurr durr thats how it is in the original rules.
But who's May Lee
Sponsored by Elmer's Glue.
Thats why noone outpizzas the hut
Btw the berserkers enraged throw also gives you the frenzied debuff even though the tooltip doesn’t say so. Take literaly any other subclass. Lol
PLEASE fix your bg3 playlist!
