Pajman77, I’ve got you covered. In just a few weeks, I’m releasing a video about how to use LinkedIn to find a job. Are there any specifics you’d like me to address in the video?
I'm running a small business and everyone says 'get on linkedin'. So I've done that, but no one seems to be able to tell me what I'm supposed to do next. I don't understand the site atall to be honest.
Awesome! Thanks for the feedback. It seems like what you need is a video about how to use LinkedIn for small business owners. Does that sound right? I will add that to my video production schedule. In the mean time, make sure your LinkedIn profile is optimized. If you need help doing that, take a look at my LinkedIn cheat sheet: www.professoraustin.com/linkedin_optimizer/ or my free LinkedIn mini course: www.professoraustin.com/linkedin-liftoff/. You'll do great!
I didn't know LinkedIn was such a big deal and that it could be such a powerful tool to help me get the job I want. I am SO glad for these tips!! They'll definitely help!!
I've watched this video about 3 times now and some of your other videos also in order to setup my LinkedIn. I purposely came back just to say thanks. You really helped and I appreciate it a lot! Keep up the good work :D
Good tutorial. I'm familiar with LinkedIn but still found it useful. I think LinkedIn can be a bit overwhelming as it has so many features, and I'd say is certainly more dense to unpack than other social networking sites, but this video does a good job of highlighting what is really the backbone of LinkedIn (the profiles and the endorsements, etc.) But nobody is going to mention how she only held up six fingers when saying "seven top things" around the 8:45 mark??? :) Just teasing. Appreciate the video.
Hi there! Thanks for watching. I agree. LinkedIn is very overwhelming in the beginning. I'm glad you enjoyed the information I share in this video. I wish you the very best with your LinkedIn profile.
Great Video Heather! My biggest challenge currently is how to use LinkedIn to change careers (ie, going from a technical position to a sales position). How and where do I highlight my skillsets to attract employers who value talent over experience?
Kat, thank you for watching. You are not alone! There are a lot of working professionals that are in your same shoes. My recommendation is to focus on your transferable/exchangeable skills. Those are skills that you can apply to either industry. Also, tailor your profile to the industry/position you want to be in. Another great thing... focus on volunteer experience that relates to the new position. Employers LOVE that! Good luck my friend!
That's what I'm afraid of that I'm going to look like I'm all over the place. I am in customer service but may go back to insurance and I'm about 6 classes away from obtaining an Associates degree.
Thank you for these tips. My biggest struggle with using LinkedIn is how to know who is seeing my profile and how to keep it quiet until I’m confident with what I’m putting out there. I also seem to get bombarded with information that seems irrelevant to my job search.
Very good and nice and clear thank you!! My biggest problem with L.I and facebook are the settings ...it amazes me how complicated they make them and that is why Im not a big user normally...waste of time searching for settings. Facebooks is the worst!
Engaging tutorial and delivered in a friendly, easy-to-understand way. I already have a profile but need to improve/update this, and this tutorial helped a great deal.
Hi Professor I"m not planing on getting a job after i graduate but i"m really learning a lot because I have never had to do any networking to get a job. But it"s a very good experience. I"m loving every minute of it, So thank you very much.
Great video. I'm a newbie that's been avoiding social media, but now I need every advantage in my job search. I haven't yet used LinkedIn until today, so I still need to figure it all out. I'll get back with you when I figure what my biggest challenge is. Best Regards.
Buzz Off Honey, so happy to hear your finally using LinkedIn. It’s such a great job search tool. I have a lot of videos on my channel about LinkedIn and how to use it in your job search. Dig in and let me know if you have any questions.
ua-cam.com/video/ki4MN6VwGms/v-deo.html This is a NEW product which helps you be seen better by employers. Have a look at my review. It prelaunches TOMORROW - December the 1st 2020.
Hi there, thanks for watching. Have you registered for the LinkedIn Jumpstart Challenge, happening this week? You'll love it. Here's the link to sign up: heatheraustin.online/linkedin-live/
Thanks for this video and the great tips!! The opportunity that I have when using Linkedin is that I've been with my company for 12 yrs and until recently I've decided to explore other options. I'm not sure what to list and all my experience that I have.
So glad to discover you. I am facing two obstacles both with LinkedIn and job search. First, I have been informally employed...so no nifty headline. Second, I am not sure what I am looking for as I just need a job...know employers don't want to hear that. But. I will follow you...loke your energy.
My biggest challenge is identifying what I do. There are a few different ways I earn income and I don't want to eliminate any of those by having too narrow of a job title
I work with job seekers, and many are new to online profiles for employment. Thank you for sharing this basic introduction - I will definitely share the link.
Great video Heather! Profile image optimization is super important and we couldn't agree more. Keeping your header image area "on brand" with your personal brand or your company's brand- by using appropriate brand colors and for types is a great way to build levels of credibility and professional appearance. The "featured" area on profiles now is so underutilized as well. Again great video, just wanted to drop our two cents in. :)
Great video and helpful tips, thanks, Mam. Could I ask two questions about LinkedIn? 1st, I'm an international student and not in the business program, do the Linkedin works to me? 2nd, how to find someone who has a similar experience or interest with me and how to contact them positively? I'm a LinkedIn beginner. Based on your introduction, Linkedin would be a great app for my future career.
Hi Heather Great video. My biggest challenge/s when I'M using LINKEDIN in is that I can not find what I search for, and when I follow specific poeple I can never find there posts, instead it shows me a heap of stuff in the feed that i don't know what it's about, linked in is very complex, and I am always open to learning new things, but I can't seem to get a clear idea on how to simply execute my tasks I find my time on LinkedIn very unproductive due not getting done my intended tasks on LinkedIn, I get put off sometimes, and overthink. I will never give up!
This is a great tutorial. I don't think I have a "challenge" with LinkedIn necessarily, but I have found that I'm getting sucked into watching a lot of videos that people post on it...similar to Facebook.
Sure I do, at first I think all that I've filled in are all set. THANKS Professor I will look it back. My biggest challenge is how to customized my LinkedIn profile.
We needed to change a profile to correct the notation in the top right hand corner that shows where you work. It listed a company from three years ago, when the profile was first made. It was ridiculously counter intuitive. This is the most convoluted interface I have worked with. I also had the help of a very computer savvy young man and he was also very confused, before we got it handled with some help from Google. You shouldn't have to google how to manage a profile edit in a program as widely used as this one. Now we know why we see so many people in our network who we know are in different jobs than what is posted on Linkedin. We just thought they hadn't revisited their profile but now we know they just couldn't figure out how to fix it. A step by step tutorial on how to adjust your profile if you have lost a job and need to avoid appearing as if you still work at your last company would be great.
Steve, thanks so much for sharing your thoughts! I agree that LinkedIn can be cumbersome. It’s not always straight forward how to do certain things, like change a job title. I will definitely be doing more LinkedIn tutorials. Thanks for watching!
Hi Stacey, yes. LinkedIn is such a great place to grow a business. I post UA-cam videos every week to my news feed on LinkedIn. Video reach is amazing.
Hey Ali - did you get an answer to this? I recommend creating a LinkedIn company page and growing your brand by sharing engaging content with the community 😊
I need to work on my profile. I just threw mine together one morning, copying from others and tweaking it all a bit. I went for done instead of perfect as I had no idea what I was doing. I just posted my first post on LinkedIn and I've been on the platform for months. Great video on How To Use LinkedIn For Beginners Heather. I can't wait to apply these 7 LinkedIn Profile Tips 2018!
No worries! It's great to use what is working for others and tailor to your own needs and industry. I'm excited to see you apply these LinkedIn profile tips.
How do I include an experience where I volunteered to tutor a classmate? What would I put for "company"? I offered to tutor the classmate by myself, not through a club or a company. Please reply. Thanks!
Hello there, one more super useful video. Thanks! Question - what if we are not sure what are our preferences about the job if we have a lot of different spheres, how then to concentrate one, and in which direction to go? Also in case, we are really new on the platform with not really valid experience, but mostly some volunteer work or personal small projects?
Hi Ana! Even if your profile has diverse interests, it's okay. But when you are applying for a job or approached by someone, try to tailor your profile to match their job expectations(be honest). That way you filter your profile for them.
Thank you, Heather. Thank you very much for your very helpful video. I'm a new LinkedIn member and have joined specifically to broaden my online fitness classes membership. I do however, have many other qualifications and areas of expertise. (Indeed, I only decided to train as a fitness instructor in my 50s.) I feel I should highlight this one area on my profile. I wonder if you would agree.
Mariam Rosy great question and I’d like to help. 1) The best way to leverage LinkedIn is to reach out to people from a place of wanting to learn rather than wanting a job. 2) Start talking to people and also, comment on on going discussions. Basically, try to get more visibility :) Hope that helps, please let me know and feel free to reach out to me on LinkedIn (where I put more content about this)
Great question my friend! I recommend connecting with 10 people a day. When you find others on LinkedIn connect with them and customize a note. You can start by connecting with me. The link to my LinkedIn profile is above. You'll do great!
Nice video for linkedin beginners and I love the way you create an anxiety to watch complete video by saying two bonus tips. Perhaps all knows those tips but your intelligence on visitor to cover entire video is nice👌 nice information and I recommend you hit content marketing for sure. Try it
I really enjoyed watching this video! I am not on LinkedIn yet because I have been out of the workforce for a long time due to losing partial sight back in 2011. I'm nervous to make my account because I don't see too well and there are gaps so I have subscribed to your channel to learn more and I will check out your Facebook group as well. Thank you so much!
Hi there Mariam! I'm sorry to hear you lost partial sight a few years ago. A LinkedIn account will be useful to you. You don't need to mention your partial blindness to anyone. Wait until the interview process begins.
thank you so much and I'm really loving your Facebook group! :-) I'm looking forward to continuing to work on my LinkedIn profile and seeing where it takes me :-) have a wonderful day!
Hello Heather. This was very informative thanks alot. I would love to connect with you on LinkedIn. I am new to LinkedIn and still learning. One more thing, I am a graduate in Economics Honors with 1 year work experience and I am looking for a full time job. Is LinkedIn a right platform for a job seeker like me???
Hey there! Thanks for the comments. I'm glad you found this video helpful. LinkedIn is the perfect place for you as an Economics major. Keep your eye on other job boards and network as much as you can while you're in school. You'll do great!
Should someone like me use LinkedIn? I don't have a college education or business experience. I've worked for two companies since I've graduated high school.
Absolutely, you should consider using LinkedIn! It's not just for those with extensive business experience or education. LinkedIn can help you connect with past colleagues, access valuable learning resources, showcase your skills from the two companies you've worked with, and discover new job opportunities. Your unique skills and experiences are worth highlighting, regardless of your educational background.
Thanks for your kind information Mam, your video was very helpful but i have a question for you that, I am HSE professional and, is the linked in is a right platform for me to find the job in HSE field.
Great video! I have a LinkedIn account for my previous career, however, do you think it’s useful for someone making and promoting UA-cam videos, not associated with a separate business?
Heather, yes. Absolutely! LinkedIn is essential for growing a business. I share my YT videos on LinkedIn every week. They get some great engagement and views. What other social platforms are you on?
A very comprehensive video, thank you. My biggest question about Linked In is how to connect with recruiters in your area of job search for potential work opportunities=)
Hi there Stanislava, thank for you watching and great question. One of the best ways to connection with recruiters is through the Career Interests section on LinkedIn. Have you seen that before? Also, a lot of positions will list the hiring managers name in the posting. Send a custom LinkedIn request to him/her letting them know if you interest in the position. Hope this helps!
I am a recent MBA grad and don't have any work experience. I am very passionate about digital marketing and learning the same and want to build a career in the same. I don't have any volunteer experience. To put it simply, I have very less professional information about myself to update perfectly on LinkedIn. Please guide me through. Thanks! :)
One important thing to add to LinkedIn is your website or resume Url, so that recruiter will be able to know more about you easily. If you don't have a personal website, you could create a web link for free with RESJI to your resume.
Thank you for this video Heather. It really helped. I run a real estate consultant firm and also I am a free Lance digital marketer, how best do you think I can work and succeed on LinkedIn?
Michel, thanks for watching. LinkedIn is perfect for you in your industry. It's such a great place to build connections and authority. Enroll in my free LinkedIn mini course and you'll learn even more. The link is above in the description.
i've just watched your video about linkedin for 2022 and you had the same profile picture of this video, 3 years ago. how often do you think we should change our profile picture? i was thinking about doing that every year...
Hi James, great question. You can show un-related work experience if it shows that you were employed and working. Is there a way you can add a bullet point or two that would related to the job you're applying for? Like something thats transferrable.
Hey guys! What is your biggest challenge when it comes to using LinkedIn?
Knowing what to DO with it once I have a profile.
Pajman77, I’ve got you covered. In just a few weeks, I’m releasing a video about how to use LinkedIn to find a job. Are there any specifics you’d like me to address in the video?

But can we afford it?
I need an exciting new career...
I'm was/am so confused by how to use LinkedIn and this video really helps me get started. Thanks for a great video!
So glad to hear you have a better understanding of LinkedIn. Good luck.

Same as me! I hope after updating my profile, I’ll be able to get a job offer.
This is a Phenomenal Video for helping me navigate LINKEDIN as someone who has not accessed or updated her LinkedIn profile in years.

Great video Heather. I deleted my LinkedIn account a couple of years ago, but always enjoy your videos!
50something original thanks for watching! So sad to hear you deleted your LinkedIn account. Was there a particular reason?
Hi
GREAT advice! LinkedIn is something that I definitely don't use as much as I should! Thank you!
Susan, I’m glad you found these LinkedIn profile tips useful. Let’s connect over there as well.
Starting my linked profile today! Thank you!!
Super awesome Stephen! Can't wait to see your Profile come together.

Hello Professor I,m a Pianist Also I,m trying To enter Linkedin To adjust my Own Proflie So good Luck as an UA-camr!
This is a great tutorial. I don't think I have a "challenge" with LinkedIn necessarily, but I have found that I'm getting sucked into watching a lot of videos that people post on it...similar to Facebook.

Sure I do, at first I think all that I've filled in are all set. THANKS Professor
I will look it back. My biggest challenge is how to customized my LinkedIn profile.
You can do it! To change your URL go to your account settings inside of LinkedIn.
Thanks. I find searching for people in a domain challenging
Thanks for making this simple for LinkedIn beginners
isitebuild it’s been a long time coming. I’ll be doing another LinkedIn tutorial for more advanced users.
We needed to change a profile to correct the notation in the top right hand corner that shows where you work. It listed a company from three years ago, when the profile was first made. I also had the help of a very computer savvy young man and he was also very confused, before we got it handled with some help from Google. Steve, thanks so much for sharing your thoughts! I agree that LinkedIn can be cumbersome. It’s not always straight forward how to do certain things, like change a job title. I will definitely be doing more LinkedIn tutorials. Thanks for watching!
Hello heather would you recommend making a LinkedIn page for a resume to show our previous work?
she made it for idiots
Excellent tips for LinkedIn 👍 The Summary explanation was SO useful. Thanks!
So glad you found the summary section useful. Thanks for watching.
Thanks Heather...You are now a part of my 2nd chance. Looking forward to "lift-off."

Thank you
Hey! Thanks so much. So glad you enjoyed the video.
what a necessary and important video! and how did I not watch it until now? Thank you so much Heather!
You're very welcome!
Thanks, Heather! I always need to be reminded to do more on LinkedIn. I find it a very boring platform, which is why I need to be reminded! 😀😀
Sue, LinkedIn is definitely not as exciting as UA-cam, but it is the perfect place to grow a business.
biggest challenge: not knowing anything about social media (just now realizing the importance of it). THANK YOU!
Thank You Professor Heather. I am excited about creating a wow profile!
You're so welcome! I can't wait for you to have an amazing profile.
I definitely need to spend more time on LinkedIn. Thank you so much for the helpful information.
Stacey, thanks so much for watching. Are you interested in LinkedIn as a job search tool or entrepreneurial tool?
An entrepreneurial tool.
Stacey, that’s terrific! Do you share your UA-cam videos on LinkedIn? As either a post or in an article?
No, I haven't been doing anything with it. I'm assuming you are using video, how is it going?
Hi Stacey, yes. LinkedIn is such a great place to grow a business. I post UA-cam videos every week to my news feed on LinkedIn. Video reach is amazing.
Hi Ms Austin,
Do you have any video on how use linkedin to promote the business?
Thanks
Hey Ali - did you get an answer to this? I recommend creating a LinkedIn company page and growing your brand by sharing engaging content with the community 😊
Thanks for this. I never pay much attention to Linkedin. I just visited my profile and it need some serious updating.
Fantastic video. Thanks for tips.
You’re very welcome.
Professor Heather Austin
How do I include an experience where I volunteered to tutor a classmate? What would I put for "company"? I offered to tutor the classmate by myself, not through a club or a company. Please reply. Thanks!
Hello there, one more super useful video. Thanks! Question - what if we are not sure what are our preferences about the job if we have a lot of different spheres, how then to concentrate one, and in which direction to go? Also in case, we are really new on the platform with not really valid experience, but mostly some volunteer work or personal small projects?
Hi Ana. Volunteer work and projects are the perfect addition to your LinkedIn profile. Definitely add them.
Hi Ana! Even if your profile has diverse interests, it's okay.
But when you are applying for a job or approached by someone, try to tailor your profile to match their job expectations(be honest). That way you filter your profile for them.
Hi thanks for the really helpful tips. Was really tickled by your seven tips with only six fingers at the end of the video. ; )
Haha, thanks for noticing my miscalculated fingers. Lol! I'm glad you enjoyed these LinkedIn tips.
Nice tips for Linkedin! Thanks for sharing.
I am hoping to get better at using Linkedin for more assistance to get noticed by Recruiters and Employers.
Way-to-go. Thanks for watching.
Thank you ma'am for ur guidance
Thanks for the great overview, Heather! I'm working to get up to speed & this really helped.
How are you
Thank you so much 👏👍
In terms of the quantifying accomplishments using %, # and $. How do you do this when one has always worked in a service career of helping others?
Thank you, Heather. Thank you very much for your very helpful video. I'm a new LinkedIn member and have joined specifically to broaden my online fitness classes membership. I do however, have many other qualifications and areas of expertise. (Indeed, I only decided to train as a fitness instructor in my 50s.) I feel I should highlight this one area on my profile. I wonder if you would agree.
any suggestion for students about how can we manage or use best of our linkedin profile!!Answer please...
Mariam Rosy great question and I’d like to help.
1) The best way to leverage LinkedIn is to reach out to people from a place of wanting to learn rather than wanting a job.
2) Start talking to people and also, comment on on going discussions. Basically, try to get more visibility :)
Hope that helps, please let me know and feel free to reach out to me on LinkedIn (where I put more content about this)
@@RoshniChellani thanks
Very clear and concise video
Great video Heather
But my Question is how can grow our people from linkedIn?
Great question my friend! I recommend connecting with 10 people a day. When you find others on LinkedIn connect with them and customize a note. You can start by connecting with me. The link to my LinkedIn profile is above. You'll do great!
Nice video for linkedin beginners and I love the way you create an anxiety to watch complete video by saying two bonus tips. Perhaps all knows those tips but your intelligence on visitor to cover entire video is nice👌 nice information and I recommend you hit content marketing for sure. Try it
Thanks for watching. So happy to hear you were intrigued.
How to create a profile for my new business?? Like I don’t get my business on the work tab!
Excellent video. Thank you so much. I’ll make sure and connect with you.
Thank you very much mam for a nice and decorous video tutorial. Keep it up 😉.
Hi there! Hey thanks so much for watching. Glad you enjoyed the tutorial.
Thanks you! You made it so simple for LinkedIn beginners!
Thank you for watching!
Thank You for the informative helpful Video, It helped me with my summary.
Thank you for the tips.
Thank you for the help!
Jesse, you’re welcome! I’m glad you’ve found these LinkedIn tips useful.
I am a recent MBA grad and don't have any work experience. I am very passionate about digital marketing and learning the same and want to build a career in the same. I don't have any volunteer experience. To put it simply, I have very less professional information about myself to update perfectly on LinkedIn. Please guide me through. Thanks! :)
Thank you i followed you on linkedin
Kurdish Subtitles, super awesome. I look forward to seeing you over on LinkedIn.
I love LinkedIn.

@08:45, the 7 tips are indicated by 6 fingers?

I'll help 50 people to earn $35,000 but you will pay me 25% of your profit when you receive it Ask me how
That was cool content . Appreciate your video😊Thanks for Sharing👍
One important thing to add to LinkedIn is your website or resume Url, so that recruiter will be able to know more about you easily. If you don't have a personal website, you could create a web link for free with RESJI to your resume.
Great video! Thanks!
Hey, thanks for watching. Glad you enjoyed these LinkedIn profile tips.
Hi Heather yes would like to get started correctly.

On the work experience section. would you include work experience that isn't necessarily related to the industry that your profile is in???
Hi James, great question. You can show un-related work experience if it shows that you were employed and working. Is there a way you can add a bullet point or two that would related to the job you're applying for? Like something thats transferrable.
@@ProfessorHeatherAustin Okay so talk about the things i may have learned and things that can be used for the new job?
What a great, easy to follow tutorial!
The Millionaire Recruiter, hello there! I’m so glad you found this tutorial easy to follow. Thanks for watching.
