This is superb. I had no idea there was a UK version of the Barkley. Just signed up for next year! I would never have come across it without this video, so many thanks!
What a fun event. So different from the US Barkley but that is probably a good thing so that normal humans can enter it (not just super heroes like John Kelley and Jasmin Paris). Well done Mark for hangin in there with the rolled ankle.
Great to run with you Mark, brilliant video and really interesting to see how your lap 2 went. I kept expecting to see you coming the other way on lap 3!
What a cool event!! Congrats on pushing through! I'd actually love to give this one a go, unlike the original! 😂 All the bushwhacking and brambles and hidden books make that one seem more of a struggle than fun- and we non elites are just in it for the "fun". 😅 There is nothing quite like ultras... the atmosphere, volunteers, runners, food, and views make them an incredible experience
Well done Mark, was good to see you there, and thanks for the brilliant Video! Hope your ankle is on the mend and we see you back next year for 4 laps !! X
Nice! Quick question - if you guys are leaning more and more into trail and ultra running - have you considered adding someone to your line up with deep expertise in the sport, with a history of racing some of the toughest race, and who provides great tips videos for new and experienced runner?... Because I know a guy who'd be interested ...!
Great video Mark, good to see you there - got to go for those 4 laps next year! (Am trying to convince Heather it will be great fun assuming no ankle injuries)- I blame those cows for the ankle crunching fields! Hope not too serious 🤞🏻
I know the frustrations of getting injured. Pulled my hamstring and abductor 11 miles into Serpent Trail 100km and then grizzed the remaining 50ish miles to finish so know exactly how you feel Mark. Hat of to you for getting as far as you did 😊.
Look very challenging and unique, well done Mark! By the way, I still can’t believe you ate a pork pie, how did that sit in the stomach whilst running 😂
Interesting concept, but as the riddles are a thing, they should try disperse the runners more. There should be five different options for each stop (50-100m apart) and each loop you get different box. That would split the runners in five and if half start opposite direction, then you get maximum of 10th of the runners at one stop at the same time. Although altering starting direction would require even number of loops (and same amount of dispersion spots) so that everybody runs the same course, but in different order.
It's only really the first few boxes where you get congestion. And marks group was exceptional. We all soon spread out, it's works really well as it is :)
Unfortunately far, far less than I planned, which is why I was stoked with how good I felt. I have been enjoying recently becoming a Dad, so training has taken a back seat 😊
You'd be surprised! Slowing down pace and taking a short stop here and there to eat etc, means a lower intensity than 5ks. I die in 5ks, too, but I've found my happy place in ultras! 😂

Thanks so so much GTN and mark for coming down.
Was awesome to watch you take on the course and you definitely have 4 in you.
Loved it! Thank you so much for inviting us along, and for running such an amazing event
I don’t know what’s harder finishing this race or watching the way Mark holds a pen
Omg i thought the same thing 😅 that man can swim, bike and run with amazing skill but geez who taught him to hold a pen like that?
its like he's left handed but writing with his right 😅
I know a guy who wrote the same way. He was left handed, but forced to write with his right hand growing up!

The ankle & fatigue notwithstanding, your hair looked great at 5k out from ringing the bell, 😂 Well done. Cool event.

I don't think I'd be able to finish more than one loop, but it just seems like such a fun event regardless.
Great effort, Mark! Props to all the GTN crew involved in this crazy event.
I've been waiting for this video since seeing the activity on Strava a couple of weeks ago! 😅 awesome!
Mark, great effort! This looks like a great event and I love that it is BErkley.

Well done! This sounds like an awesome event!
Well done for pushing through with your injured ankle =D you did great!
Well done! Love the ultra running content on the channel.

love Mark's bigger quests, boost bars well earned. Mark for Barclay Tennessee!
Still working on the Boost bar sponsorship 😂
@@markthrelfall3577 you'll get there!😆
That was a brilliant watch. Awesome event!
Is it perhaps the best and worst job in the world at the same time? Mark, as always, giving it his all! Great video! GTN ❤
Well done mark. These challenges are my favourite videos ❤❤❤
I’ve run in all three events to date. Humidity was off the charts this year.
Very cool! Amazing effort!!
Stunning challenge!
I'm less shocked that he did the race, than the way he holds the marker 😂
Haha I was waiting for this 😂
Well done Mark! What is that light on your backpack called?
It’s a running light rom Gert Lush Event sponsors LightupU
quirky race. seems similar to orienteering but with a different mental exercise to do. looks fun!
Look very challenging and unique, well done Mark! By the way, I still can’t believe you ate a pork pie, how did that sit in the stomach whilst running 😂

Good job, Mark! What did the training look like for this?
Unfortunately far, far less than I planned, which is why I was stoked with how good I felt. I have been enjoying recently becoming a Dad, so training has taken a back seat 😊
what shoes were you rocking?
Wow!
I hope Mark kept some nappies for the trails
The maths lockbox thing is daft.
Global Ultramarathon Network 🤷🏼♂️
They’re a lot of fun. Plenty of tris this year, but nice to mix it up with some new challenges 😊
I think they could have come up with their own idea 😂
Hi Mark, you’d run a lot further if you could hold a pen properly.
damnn this must be hard. i die at 5 k
