    1. Best book I have read so far in 2023: «The Veiled Throne» by Ken Liu (book #3 in the «Dandelion Dynasty»), followed by «The Winter King» by Bernard Cornwell, «The Farthest Shore» by Ursula K. Le Guin, «The Winter Road» by Adrian Selby and «The Way of Edan» by Philip Chase
    2. Best sequel I have read so far in 2023: «The Veiled Throne» by Ken Liu, followed by «The Farthest Shore» by Ursula K. Le Guin, «The Winter Road» by Adrian Selby (technically a prequel, but heck😅) and «Excalibur» by Bernard Cornwell
    3. New release I haven't read yet but want to: «The Children of Gods and Fighting Men» by Shauna Lawless and «The Prophet of Edan» by Philip Chase
    4. Most anticipated release for the second half of the year: «Bold Ascension» by Vaughn Roycroft and «Return to Edan» by Philip Chase
    5. Biggest disappointment: «Enemy of God» by Bernard Cornwell (here I am a being bit spoiled and differing for most others it seems, but it was my least favorite in the Warlord Trilogy and definitly the most over-hyped)
    6. Favorite new author. (Debut or new to me): 1) Bernard Cornwell, 2) Philip Chase, 3) Alfred Duggan ad 4) Sean Poage
    7. Biggest surprise: The Main Duo of Agonni and Jarr in «When the Elves are Gone» by JB Allen (a 3 star read overall, but man!, do the trauma those two suffer from still stick in my head!), how downright nasty Professor Chase can write in «The Way of Edan» (!) and «Gurzil» by «I, Anonymous» (a self-pub debut: Was way too short and my edition needed some spelling checks, but how he managed to mix Arthurian Myth with real history and Biblical stories: Outstanding!)
    8. Book that made you happy: «The Veiled Throne» by Ken Liu, followed by «The Winter King», «The Retreat from Avalon» by Sean Poage and «The Way of Edan»
    9. Newest fictional crush: Teyr from «The Winter Road», Goztan and Fara (with special mention to Widow Wasu😆) from «The Veiled Throne»
    10. Newest favorite character: Galahad from «The Warlord Chronicles», Kinri & Goztan (with special mentions to Fara, Widow Wasu and the one-scene «Best Supporting Actor» stealing cameo of my literary alter ego Cogu Yelu: Ma Man!) from «The Veiled Throne». And both Vuco Firna from «The Veiled Throne» and Felix from «The Little Emperors» by Alfred Duggan, deserve a shout out as ardent defenders of civilization!
    11. Book that made me cry: «Speaking Bones» by Ken Liu and «The Winter Road» by Adrian Selby
    12. Most beautiful book I have bought so far this year (or received): «The Children of Gods and Fighting Men» by Shauna Lawless and «The Way of Edan» by Philip Chase have both beautiful covers and I received a leather bound edition of book 1 of the «Flatøybok» Norse Saga!
    13. What books do I need to read by the end of the year? «Under Heaven» & «River of Stars» by GGK, «Bold Ascension» by Vaughn Roycroft and «The Prophet of Edan» & «Return to Edan» by Philip Chase

I feel like I'm the only commenter who ever wants to answer these questions and share them, too. I look through the comments on tag videos and no one else is posting answers except me. I guess I'm just obnoxious like that. 😅 Also, forgive me for my obsession with McCammon's books. I cant help it.
Favorite book: Swan Song/Boy's Life/ Speaks the Nightbird.
Best sequel: Hunger of the Gods by John Gwynne
New release haven't read yet: The Will of the Many by James Islington, and The Book that Wouldn't Burn by Mark Lawrence.
Most anticipated new release: Light Bringer.
Most disappointing book: Die Trying by Lee Child.
Biggest surprise: Shadows Linger by Glen Cook.
    Favorite new author: Robert McCammon.
Newest fictional crush: Rachel Howarth from Speaks the Nightbird.
Favorite new character: Matthew Corbett from Speaks the Nightbird.
Book that made you happy: Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir.
Most beautiful book bought: Norse Mythology by Neil Gaiman.
Books you have left to read: Robert McCammon's entire bibliography

Really happy you've been able to enjoy the summer with your family. I miss your videos but when I see you reply to people saying you've had a busy few months it makes me glad because you've put yourself before UA-cam which others haven't been able to do in the past. We'll all be here when you get back.

Always love this tag. I’m also surprised that Senlin Ascends didn’t work for you. We have very similar reading tastes in fantasy (Fevered Star worked well for me too), and I really enjoyed the Books of Babel series. I know what you mean about Stoner. It gave me such a sense of melancholy and righteous frustration at times at Stoner’s inaction. Happy reading!

Hail Mary is a masterpiece!! I had fun filming this tag myself, I will make it into a yearly ration too!! So many of these I have never heard of, thanks for bringing them to my attention! 🥰

Really enjoyed this Sarah. I’ve been on the fence about Lady Trent. Not sure if it’s my cup of tea. I’m really excited to get to Hail Mary.

Love this tag, and you have me so hyped to try Lady Trent! I also can’t wait to dig into Tchaikovsky’s sci-fi this year after loving Ogres and Shadows of the Apt so much!

Lol on taking a year between the Liveship books due to the bindings-seems I was lucky to have the loosely bound US mmpbs! I just read Ship of Destiny and absolutely loved it, what an incredible trilogy it was!

I have read the entire Lady Trent series twice and I have no doubts that I will succumb to a reread before too long again, those books bring me SO much joy. And you're getting me excited for Fevered Star again, that had fallen so far down my TBR, oops.
Hope the second half of your year is just as good, if not better! Happy reading Sarah 🥰

Lady Trent Memoirs are so good, and not nearly enough people have read and talked about it.

A persnickity old woman reflecting on her life sounds it should be a regular thing in fantasy! 😂 I feel guilty that Stoner made you feel that way 🙈. Loved hearing your answers to this tag! ❤️

I love Lady Trent! Just re-read all 5 and about to get to book 6 for first time. Have Stoner too, languishing on my shelf for years… Do want to get to it.
Question: I’ve been watching so much BookTube and have added so many books to my TBR that I don’t know where to start 😂 Should I start with Abercrombie, Hobb, Wurts, LPQ, Erickson, Parker or ASOIAF? Or another? I have loved LOTR and Tchaikovsky - eclectic reader (scifi, classics, mysteries mostly from early 20th, historical, romance, etc). Thanks 🤓Oh just thought you may enjoy Emma Newman’s Planetfall series. She uses scifi to entertain while focusing on a mental illness. I loved them even if sometimes hard hitting.
(Hope your child is totally recovered 🥰)

I do keep count, but only started recently! I personally have 730, but that doesn’t count any of my husband’s/kid’s books. So the total number is probably around 1000 😳
