Outboard motor is a waste of money since the boat rows well. The non-planning hull won't get up and go anyway. A bigger motor won't change that. I'm very happy with it but relegated the new outboard to the garage.
We finally broke down and got a backup engine, which we got with a long shaft for the Pudgy to use. It's actually pretty nice. Moving straight upwind at 4 knots is a LOT more VMG that sailing at 2ish, and you can go for miles. This is an old video...those kids are now 18 and 20.
