  • In this episode, I'll use the Woodmizer BMS-25 blade sharpener, along with my home made tooth setting tool to put the blade into near new cutting condition. In episodes 26 & 27 (links below), I talked about the start of my cuts going uphill a little bit. Having a sharp and wider set seems to have solved that problem. The Woodmizer blade sharpener allows a cutting angle of from 7 to 10 degrees. I'm finding that a sharper angle works well for pine and softer woods, but the flatter angle is needed for harder woods like pecan and oak.
This channel is dedicated to educating and entertaining anyone interested in the art/science of historic restoration, which will include construction techniques and goals, related off-site projects, a little homesteading and off-grid living, history and maybe even a little farming. On this property stands a Dogtrot style log cabin built in 1850, with an addition constructed in the 1970's. Although at one point, this was likely quite a nice and well cared for home, but years of neglect has caused a lot of deterioration. My intent is to have you learn some construction and restoration basics, as you watch. None of my videos are intended to teach the use o-f safety techniques or use of personal protective equipment. That responsibility is yours and those around you.

Thanks so much for the presentation. It was very helpful. You mentioned a simple setter on Ebay. Do you have a search string to find it? Thank you.

Sorry, Jeff, I don't. It was a few years back that I researched it.
