I can also vouch for the 613H, I absolutely love mine, feels like a Bach 50 with correctly sized valves. - I feel the exact same way about my 882OR, it’s the best Bach 42 that Bach never made
Thanks for your review of the Yamaha 613. It might be something to consider if I start doing some more big band playing. I’ll be at Dillon music next week, they may have one in stock to try. Of course, since I have a Shires bass, I could simply get a second bell that’s lighter than my current one!
Even a .500 tenor with a small mouthpiece is probably much bigger than what Beethoven would have expected for a bass trombone. Of course an instrument like that wouldn't sound right in a modern brass section. Even though I don't think it would actually sound that great, I am interested to hear Beethoven 5 on something like .460 bore small bell trombones, roughly half way between modern instruments and sackbuts.
Not especially, no. The 822 plays great and sounds great. I just don't like how it's dependent and the balance of the horn isn't great IMO. The 622 is good, but the 822 is a clear improvement in all ways.
So, what are you selling the Yamaha 613 H for? I have the 613 G and agree with a lot of what you said.I play it most of the time with and occasional foray on my King 3b F. I would be interested in the H if you don't have an immediate buyer for it

It's a great choice for big band!
my school has that second horn but with a quarter welded onto the Gb lever
What the fuck lmao
Hey, I see you are giving Trombone lessons, are these available online ? Cool video anyway.
Sure are!

Anything can sound great with the right concept and players!
I know dependent isn’t your first choice, but do you like the 622 better than the 822, like how you like the 613H better than the 830?

What do you think of an older .Holton bell attached to a shires set up?
Anything can work. Holton are not massively different sized than a modern Shires, so they have a better chance than some.
What could be spicier than an Aurora bass?
You'll know soon enough :D

It's already gone! Sold it to a colleague. Good horn but I think my 613 no letter is a better match for my uses.
Where did you go about buying your new contrabass?
I found it on Facebook. I got very lucky there.
I watch your stuff on and off sometimes, but I didn't realize you did lessons. How much are they typically?
Send in a response and we'll hash it out!
Out of curiosity, what do you do at Disney?
I'm a sub on 3rd and bass trombone in the Disneyland Band.
You are a welder among other things!
No welding, just solder! Slightly different.
I want to buy your bass trombone
You and everyone else! Haha
