I love that song at 48:08 to 48:40 when you first enter the Damocles Laboratory for the first time the upbeat music after that adrenaline induced battle against the H.E.C.U Marines last attempt in the mod. I need that song.
I loved the bit of the mod where you can just smash open the windows with the computer monitor, such an intuitive thing yet so genius from a gameplay standpoint since most windows like that are impenetrable. Idk why I just really liked it
The scientists in that part of the facility probably never saw Gordon before but knew Gordon was wearing a HEV suit, and that's why he called you Gordon... Or its a development mistake.
Man, I had to look high and low for a HL/Black Mesa addon that didn't cost anything. I guess you might say I had to...Hunt Down the Freemod. BAHAHAHAHA!
Came back to say this mod is really incredible, as high quality as Black Mesa, *but fuck the puzzles with a rake.* Either give any sort of even vague hint as to how the hell I'm supposed to do the blue spiralling death generator or replace that awful, awful, AWFUL spinning platform with a ladder. It has 5 controls: 1) go left, maybe. (usually does not work or you hit 5 by accident) 2) go right, maybe. (usually does not work or you hit 5 by accident) 3) go forward/back, maybe. (almost never works and you hit 5 by accident every time) 4) interact with the platform lift, maybe. ( *only* works if you hit 5 first. This option can break entirely, forcing you to need to hit the hidden crane button.) 5) BOOK IT AT MACH 12 CENTRIFUGE MAXIMUM OVERDRIVE SO FAST YOUR CHARACTER CLIPS INTO IT AND KILLS HIMSELF I was stuck on this segment for two days!!
One thing that most BM mods have in common (even OAR uncut) are that they're confusing labyrinths with little to no player guidance. By all means have a big level to explore and discover secrets but use the tools at your disposal. Sign posting (can even be literal), lighting, context (hazardous area was blocked by guard by now in have hazard suit), sound, quest direction, and so on. Half Life and Black Mesa both have levels that are large and semi-open but the side areas are short and always return you back, with your goal ahead of you, very quickly. Office Complex, Blast Pit, OAR, Forget About Freeman, and more work because they aren't actual mazes but linear levels in which you explore for goodies. Azure, Hazard Course (after), Blue Shift and this mod are all prime examples of the same level design. It looks great. But it just feels off.
I didn't have time to play this mod so I came here to watch the whole part. But I must admit by looking from it, this is indeed a very very very great BM mod I've ever come across. The most revolutionary part is its viewmodel animations, where you get to see yourselves kicking, slotting cards, wearing safety cable, and changing batteries etc etc. I've never seen such thing like this. This is how EP3 or HL3 should've occurred instead of seeing two arms holding guns. The puzzles might seem difficult to solve but they contains interesting accounts involving real life physics. Love that challenging part where you must ensure the card doesn't drown in water. Story wise, it doesn't really emphasize what this Damocles experiment is all about other than being reminiscent to "Lambda Core" chapters where you have to activate 2 pumps and flood the water. Hopefully the 2nd part will explain what these are about. Btw, I love that Dr. Kleiner and Eli cameo appearance when they stuck in a room. Dat Lamarr!!!
The hand animations take you out of it and kind of interrupt the gameplay (thankfully they're short). It's fine when mods do it since it's trying to be it's own experience, but I feel like the HL work with as fewer animations as possible.

This is such a shame the franchise has been abandoned. Valve could do so much more about it. Luckily there is a community of true fans who had ability and power to do something. What a wonderful mod and soundtrack. I just love these crossovers. Like seeing Gina Cross and Colette Green sending the crystal for Gordon, or Barney knocking to the door from Gordon's perspective. And now that poor scientist teleported.
Jesus Christ! That was... OMG that was really good! And that WGH Topside buildup, that scene beats the original! AND THE DESTRUCTION, YES! ACTION DRUNK MOD, YES!!! The only thing that ruined some scenes is VOX... I can understand the original, the BMS, but this one is just a Combine-wanna-be, oh, and many more Combine sounds. Citadel Alert was that last nail in the sound design coffin. And yeah, I saw where the guard's HUD came from - an interesting, sorta real, stuff for a thing Mesa is.

People saying this mod is good are bots or never played it. First off these puzzles are tearbringing, but even worse is the fact that I ENCOUNTERED OVER 50 BUGS DURING THIS MOD. TO THE POINT I HAD TO USE NOCLIP CAUSE SCRIPTED SCENES WHERE BROKEN.
@asterixxer Well, you are lucky. I had problems every minute. Sometimes explosive crates didn't explode (even when you shoot at them). Doors didn't open, sometimes there was a literall invisible wall in the hallway (KEEP IN MIND IT WASNT SUPPOSED TO BE THERE) At the end i was just cussing like something out of this world. I recommend you to NOT play this mod. The only good thing about this mod are the first person animations, and I am also a scripter/source mod dev, and i know how you make them. (Well atleast my way) Here is how you make them: -step one: Port the map and models to gmod / sfm -step two: Make the animation -step three: Record the animation -step four: Save the animation and put it in your video files of the mod -step five: Make a trigger that triggers the video, (keep in mind the animation quality etc has to bee exactly the same as black mesa itself, therefore i use gmod for first person animations) and here you go, first person animation. (that was brief, and that is how I do it.) Overall its easy to make animations and I wouldn't wonder why such a horrible mod can have animations. It's still better than hunt down the freeman tho. Also also, sorry for bad grammar, english isn't my first language.

So let me preface this by saying maybe im just bad, but yea.. Played a bit of it, but stopped, mod looks awesome but i somehow kept getting stuck (and i dont wanna watch a walktrough to get trough it, i skip trough these videos and decide if i wanna play something, theres no point playing it if watching the whole video imho) noclipped trough a few maps then just gave up, thats not how i wanna experience this mod. In all honesty it already started off bad as i couldn't even get past the server room, tried to run past the guards like 20-30 times then just loaded the next map eventually. While i see plenty of "follow the lights" trickery like Valve themselves uses, i feel like the mod can benefit from more (and more obvious) lights like this, as most of the time i just found the path forward by random luck, or by using noclip to see in what directions the map extends, or by giving up and loading the next map... Its pretty clear this mod is a work of love and made by somebody pretty dang skilled, so im not hating or anything, just trying to convey how i experienced it. I might give it a go again over the weekend, but if i have to noclip again im just going to uninstall and wait for a better version.
