What I think is a major plot hole is the reason Homer isn't fired from the Nuclear plant or how he got the job at the Power plant is because of Abe Simpson, which doesn't make sense
@DonnachaSweeney actually it doesn't make sense because they're times stating Homer got the job all on his own without anyone else and he has been fired or alerted to he is gonna be fired on various occasions.
Right especially considering who his mother is to Mr burns. Yeah his dad did good things but his mother literally destroyed his germ plant and has been on the run her entire life. If he has the job because of abe doing something good for burns then wouldn't it even out because of the stuff his mom did meaning he wouldn't have a permanent job
Let me get this straight the real reason why Marge have fear of flying all because her father was a male flight attendants (steward) instead of a pilot seriously😒.
Think of it like this: she was too young to understand that there was a time being a male flight attendant was seen as shameful. All she knew was her father freaked out like he was caught mid-murder. Her young mind could only understand that her father was freaking out while on a plane. Sure, we understand what happened but to Marge's young mind, it was a traumatic experience seeing her dad freak like that. Its not because he was an attendant, it was because of hw her young mind processed his fteakout.
My understanding was that it was an ironic joke. Marge has all these other events such as being shot at by a plane, but the major cause of her trauma was that her father was a steward that caused her fear of flying. You also need to remember that this episode was released in the 90s, and referenced Marge's childhood which would have been the 70s. It would not be unheard of for the man of the house to be ashamed of a job that was usually held by a female.

it might be a bit of an apologetic approach, but there's a prevailing theory that the episodes don't take place in sequential order. meaning the old farm house could have burned down *after* the tomacco episode. marge could have flied after getting over her fear of flying - if that even happens, i don't remember.
not that i feel the need to explain every error and inconsistently with fan theories and logic, that one just makes way too much sense. so i can totally see them as being errors, i equally see the episodes as not being in sequential order, for the most part.
Then again, The Simpsons continuity is filled with plot holes. For example, in the episode "Dude, Where's My Ranch?" Lisa laments that a young ranch hand was her first crush, even though there were episodes prior that revealed she had other crushes. Nelson Muntz, anybody? And then there's "The Good, the Sad, and the Drugly" where early on, Homer thinks Milhouse could be El Barto, completely disregarding the earlier episode "Large Marge", which has Homer already knowing that Bart is El Barto, and decides to follow in his stead. I mean, that's the problem with continuity here. Over three decades, and things can get a little confusing.
What about the plothole of Todd and Rod's ages. In some episodes Rod is the oldest, in another Todd is older. Both are supposed to be older than Lisa, but in one episode, Lisa is already two, and I forget which one, Maude is pregnant with one of them even though they are both older than Lisa. Also, Bart is supposedly allergic to shrimp, but I am pretty sure he had shrimp before.
can't have any plot holes when there isn't really a plot. every episode, everything ends up back to normal. the only real continuities have been characters dying. even in the movie, the end of it they're back in Springfield in their house back to normal. even their pasts have huge "continuity errors" early on homer and marge were kids in the 60s or 70s. later episodes showed them being teens in the 90s. the show takes place in an ever resetting timeline and they will never grow up until they learn to be older. Bart is permanently 10 because as a cartoon character, he lacks the ability to learn how to be 11.
I noticed the last one and while I have definitely come up with theories to justify these plot holes, in true Simpsons fashion I think we’re just meant to not think about it that hard
You did notice Larry in the flash forward episode. He died last season. Also, what contradicts that episode was that it took place in 2010, and 2010 is now the past and the Simpsons were still the same age
