True, I’d rate them around the same, although I’d say that “The Fugitive” is more of a drama-thriller movie; whereas “Speed” is more of an action-thriller movie.
I remember how impressed I was with this movie when I saw it. The little things like Jack casually stepping off the bus while in motion onto that tactical vehicle, just a legit feeling of reality and energy. Really impressed how Keanu Reeves put in the physical work and built up his body instead of phoning it in.

Dude, Speed is an R-rated my mom didn't mind me watching at 6 years old and I've watched it so many times I know it by heart. Had it on VHS, got it on DVD with deleted scenes and I will ALWAYS love it. What makes it simple is it's 3 Act structure. Act 1 = Elevator, Act 2 = Bus and Act 3 = Train. This movie's structure is also the method in which my story I'm writing will be written. Each of my 3 acts will have 3 acts to keep the growth and development going. It's superhero stories plus 80s-90s action movies plus sci-fantasy all rolled into one. The story is called Blue Shogun, be on the look-out for it.

Dreadfully miscast in Dracula and In Much Ado About Nothing between the two, and if you haven't seen either I highly recommend keeping it that way. Dracula was full of awful casting all around, among other things, and he's such a sore thumb in MAAN it hurts every time he's on screen.

Crazy story. The freeway was built in my city, I drive it everyday. This caught my attention as a 9 year old. I got a bootleg of it and watched it about 259 times and it became my number 1 movie of all time.
I saw THE TERMINATOR at age 8 and have watched it more then 259 times still my favorite movie nothing has come close. My top 3 is THE TERMINATOR other 2 slots are empty. Never gets old does it ?

Speed is such an underrated movie. Saw it as a kid when it came out on VHS (I remember my friend's parents went to see it in the theater, while us kids went to a different screen to watch The Mask, I believe) FUN FACT: When I saw The Mask in theaters, the scene where Stanley Ipkiss is in jail telling his dog to find a new home, I cried. I was a child, lol.
"Die Hard on a bus" is how this was reviewed at the time, I think. Also, Cameron Fry had to take the bus after he ruined his dad's car. Also, Jeff Daniels played two characters named "Harry" in the same year: Speed & Dumb & Dumber.
I read somewhere that they offered the role to Stephen Baldwin & the "Die Hard on a bus" thing was the reason he turned it down. Actually in the earlier version of the script Jack Traven, was a lot more like the John McClane. Also heard that Ellen DeGeneres was considered in mind for the part Sandra Bullock played (early on before a script rewrite that had her a more comedic character).

I saw this in a double feature with Beverly Hills Cop 3. Me and my friend were both fans of the first two BHC movies. We'd heard the new one wasn't good, but we figured, "Hey, how bad can it be?" ... The theater shows Speed first, which we knew very little about. We thought it was going to be the worst of the two. We're thinking, "Well, at least we'll get the crappy one out of the way first." It completely blew us away. It's still one of my top ten action movies. And then BHC3 comes on. Less said about that the better. But I will always be grateful to BHC3 and that theater for showing that double feature, because without it I probably wouldn't have seen Speed on the big screen, and that would have sucked.
This was the movie that I watched at a high-end home theatre store at the mall as a 15yr old- my first experience of Laserdisc and DTS Surround sound through a monster Yamaha AVR - awesometacular indeed!!

Crazy story. The freeway was built in my city, I drive it everyday. This caught my attention as a 9 year old. I got a bootleg of it and watched it about 259 times and it became my number 1 movie of all time.
I saw THE TERMINATOR at age 8 and have watched it more then 259 times still my favorite movie nothing has come close. My top 3 is THE TERMINATOR other 2 slots are empty. Never gets old does it ?

Speed is such an underrated movie. Saw it as a kid when it came out on VHS (I remember my friend's parents went to see it in the theater, while us kids went to a different screen to watch The Mask, I believe)
FUN FACT: When I saw The Mask in theaters, the scene where Stanley Ipkiss is in jail telling his dog to find a new home, I cried. I was a child, lol.
Speed was not underrated. It’s one of the 90’s movies that set the bar for many and plus it was a box office smash.

"Die Hard on a bus" is how this was reviewed at the time, I think. Also, Cameron Fry had to take the bus after he ruined his dad's car.
Also, Jeff Daniels played two characters named "Harry" in the same year: Speed & Dumb & Dumber.
I read somewhere that they offered the role to Stephen Baldwin & the "Die Hard on a bus" thing was the reason he turned it down. Actually in the earlier version of the script Jack Traven, was a lot more like the John McClane. Also heard that Ellen DeGeneres was considered in mind for the part Sandra Bullock played (early on before a script rewrite that had her a more comedic character).
Jeremy you need to watch Train to Busan. It has subtitles but it's a bad ass zombie movie.

Not completely 90s, but I would love to hear your thoughts on the Lethal Weapon films.
To me, the first is just as much an action classic as Die Hard is, and just as much a Christmas movie to boot!
That Speed theme and the getaway theme from Metal Gear Solid sound very similar.
Really forgot how AWESOME the opening swat/elevator opening scene is. Everyone remembers the Wildcat moment, the jump, etc but the opening is awesome.
That part when keanu gets frustrated on the bus and said they're all going to die.... I felt that!!... top tier acting!!

I saw this in a double feature with Beverly Hills Cop 3. Me and my friend were both fans of the first two BHC movies. We'd heard the new one wasn't good, but we figured, "Hey, how bad can it be?"

The theater shows Speed first, which we knew very little about. We thought it was going to be the worst of the two. We're thinking, "Well, at least we'll get the crappy one out of the way first."
It completely blew us away. It's still one of my top ten action movies.
And then BHC3 comes on. Less said about that the better. But I will always be grateful to BHC3 and that theater for showing that double feature, because without it I probably wouldn't have seen Speed on the big screen, and that would have sucked.
This was the movie that I watched at a high-end home theatre store at the mall as a 15yr old- my first experience of Laserdisc and DTS Surround sound through a monster Yamaha AVR - awesometacular indeed!!
This was the first movie I've ever watched, i remember falling in love with Sandra Bullock after watching it.
