As the owner of a real life PA17 with an Armstrong Starter, I was laughing through your start sequence. It was so real. Best simulation I have ever seen of a hand swing start.
Thank you man, as I was reading this I was like oh no, what did I do wrong. Then I read the rest of it and was like awesome!!! Thanks for commenting man and if you ever get a chance stop in to my Discord, it's linked in the Description. I'd love to see your plane sometime! We have a couple channels in there for IRL pictures. If you fly in MSFS, did you get this plane yet?
@@Burstix Just joined your Discord, will post a photo later. I mostly fly X-Plane 11 and 12, but also have MSFS2020 which I fly from time to time. Will be getting this bird.
Having been a dedicated FSX flight Sim hobbyist for around a decade, and now an active MSFS enthusiast for almost a year since its inception, (not to mention 8 years of experience as an aircraft user guide author for one of the top 3 FSX developers), I think I have a good understanding of the top-tier, meticulously modeled aircraft presently available. Upon seeing the UA-cam advertisement for what was supposed to be ‘the best J3 Piper Cub’, I decided to watch your video and then “enlighten you” 🙂LOL. However, as I watched, I was astonished at the meticulous detail that was put into the development of this incredible J3. I must admit that it is YOU who has “enlightened ME!" 🤒. Up until now, I had never even heard of "Classic Aircraft Simulations." The fact that they were able to create such an excellent version of the J3 Piper Cub and yet be so new to me, tells me that the only thing they’re doing wrong is their failure to advertise! My current desktop computer is the most powerful one I've built so far. I prefer to fly low to the ground and have a lot of 3rd-party add-on scenery. However, if I fly over a densely forested area with third-party HR mesh, mountains, and scenery at 250 knots or more, it won't be long before my system fails to keep a decent frame rate. So, many like myself take occasional ‘low & slow’ flights with a 70-kt. aircraft to enjoy high-resolution scenery. The J3 Piper Cub by Classic Aircraft Simulations is the perfect choice for such a flight. Well, all I can say to Classic Aircraft Simulations is "Great job" and "advertise, advertise, advertise!" In fact, I just purchased the J3 via the link you provided. Thanks for the video and the 'Enlightenment'! Rich

I call it like I see it, and it has that type of texturing, like a realistic feel to it, great modeling, a complete iPad for features, cold dark, etc. The ability to grab the flight surfaces to check them, engine damage, fuel, shoot even the way you grab handles and maneuver them is great!

Nice review!👍🏽 The only problem I have with this J-3 is the developer has decided to disable the "Flight Assistant" feature from the tool bar. I understand that this is a feature many don't use but I use it ALL the time. I don't have a problem if they turn off a feature only THEY provided but to turn off an Asobo provided feature feels a little bit "How dare they!" (Yeah I know, I'm spoiled but damn it, leave the features I PAID FOR alone!)
Well the good thing is if you have bindings set up for autopilot they all work so what I have set up is heading bug decrease and increase, then I have altitude hold altitude increase and decrease and then vertical speed bugs increase and decrease and also vertical speed toggle and an autopilot on and off. But yeah all those work for me so at least that is able to be used and it's a little bit better than flight assistant. This guy is super responsive though I've already told him a couple buttons that didn't work like back to fly which is something that I use all the time sometimes it's hard to stream and lead a group flight and read chat and everything all at once lol So if I'm going to crash I'll just hit back to fly haha. I appreciate the comment, I left the link for the Discord in the description I would head in there and let him know that the feature doesn't work he will probably fix it!
Haha that is so real.... every time you kick start a bike or in your case hand prop an engine the darn thing won’t go when someone’s watching......and you have 1900 people watching, no chance ;) Great review, that’s my weekend sorted, thank you.
You ride? I ride, no kickstart but I got a 2000 Road King, 2 into 1 Vance and Hynes, S&S Super Carb, Screamin' Eagle Heads, great bike, and still carbureted!
I never primed my cub in fact it doesn't have a primer. You just give it a couple strokes of throttle on a cold day. I'd be curious how it flys compared to IRL. Ive never been very impressed by MSFS planes but this one looks pretty good
UPDATE: One of my twitch viewers made me aware that control surfaces including horizontal stabilizer trim, ailerons, rudder etc are all checkable when you maneuver outside of the plane from cockpit view. Thought this was a really neat aspect of the plane that I did not cover in this video. I did move the control surfaces from outside but that was with my flight controls. I'm just playing I could have been using my mouse to "hand" check. I was going to make a second short video before Flight Sim Expo but I won't have time so the information is now here!
That would be absolutely awesome, not everybody would utilize that kind of feature seeing as only about 10% of the people really even want failures on a regular basis but that being said if they could develop something like that into 2024 that would be awesome. We have a lot of viewers on the Twitch group flights that are somehow involved in A&P work and I know they'd be loving that! What an awesome idea Thanks for stopping into the channel man!
Since the comanche new piston addons have been boring, this one is a potential buy even if it doesnt have gps its a plane u really wanna fly a long route and land at little grass strips
Greetings. excellent review. One question: How can you fly with the windows open? If I open them I get a structural failure (overstressed) and I have to reset and start again but with the windows closed. I flew Piper Super Cub PA-18 and one of the most beautiful things was flying with the door and windows open
The developer has updated and I have been gone for a week at FSExpo in Vegas, I haven't flown but possibly I mistake in the update, or maybe you aren't supposed to d to fly it with structural overstress failures. I don't fly with any failures except for engine failures if a certain plane requires it
I would suggest going to the description here and joining their Discord, I have it linked. Discord is almost always immediate answers straight from the developer give or take some time zone differences here and there
Once you own one of the aircraft that is able to be damaged whether it be nothing more than texturing or actual damage to physics and or operating systems of the aircraft there is no going back.
It's most likely just the view it looks normal to me I may have had my camera assumed out a little bit to show some of the detail and shine from the PBR textures. I can say that it looks perfectly normal to me though! Thanks for watching come hit a group fight with us sometime!
@@hopdig That's a great question, I have not actually tried this, but I know it's not tied to the mixture button binding, but I imagine it would probably work He probably just doesn't have it set to the button binding because it's actually a fuel cut off that works as a mixture. I have to try this now Thanks! My suggestion if you want a quicker answer would be to go to his discord which I have linked up top in the description!

I am not sure, a true free castering tail wheel is something that only exists on 1-2 aircraft that I know of in MSFS 2020, it is not something supported base sim so it seems people have to write their own magic code to get it done. The Only one I can even say for sure has it in the sim is the Got Friends Double Ender here at got-friends.com/burstix . Other than thatI know for the Xbox players and many PC players with no differential braking, the tail wheel turning is an "easy" mode of sorts.
