This team is my favorite ever; Socrates, Zico, Falco, Junior, Eder, Cerezo,.... As a child, the 1982 World Cup was the first to watch. The day Brazil lost to Italy was one of my saddest days. I felt the world was cruel and there was no justice. Although Brazil has won two world cups since then, Brazil's football has never been the same.
We all wanted to be Eder, when we played out our fantasy’s in games as a kid in 82 in England bags being Eder was the cry, he was magical. Footballers today just don’t have that flare and swagger a true great

Brasil 1982 is the best national team I’ve ever seen. I’m from Buenos Aires, Argentina. Socrates, Zico, Toninho Cerezo, Eder, Falcao…that’s football for you, not always rewarding the best. Italy was a very strong side, but that Brazil team deserved a World Cup.
That Brazil team of 82 is still one of the finest 'Magic 11s' that ever played. These guys ignited the love to ⚽ in all parts of the world. Thank to God it was my childhood 🙏🚀
Éder was a fabulous football player. He was not very well known to the world (few players came out of Brazil). He had a terrible strength in his left foot, which often knocked opponents out when he shot. Opponents were afraid (without exaggeration) of getting in front of him before shooting. For a while, he was the one who scored almost all of Atlético Mineiro's goals. There will never be another like him.

The irony is that Eder was actually the reserve left winger. The 1st choice left winger was a speedy wizard called Ze Sergio. He was absolutely sensational. He had pace, dribbling ability, a powerful shot, very good crossing ability, and he could play short 1-2 passes to perfection. Ze Sergio, Reinaldo, and Tita were the first choice forward line in qualifying games. Eder, Serginho, Isidiro, Mario Sergio, Nunes, Claudio Adao were reserves. Careca was added roughly a year to World Cup 82, in friendly games. Sadly, Ze Sergio got injured, Reinaldo was dropped due to a clash with coach Tele Santana, and Tita left because he wanted a midfield role and not a right wing role. Zico, Cerezo, and Socrates played in a fluid midfield. Batista, Adilio, Renato were the main reserves. Falcao was added just before WC 82. Tele Santana had a very good squad of players to choose from but he made some unfortunate choices which cost Brazil the world cup. Serginho had no business being in that team and Emerson Leao was much the better goalkeeper than Waldir Peres.
It is the greatest goal ever scored because no one ever dared to try such a thing not even in training let alone in the first very difficult game of a World Cup!

When Brazil lost to Italy in '82, it was one of the most depressing days of my life. Brazil had played that tournament with such footballing beauty; that i couldn't believe they could lose. But it happened and millions of people fans of the "jogo bonito" went into mourning.

The balll left his boot like a bullet from a gun - and only time the keeper saw it myst have been when ot hit the back of the net! However their striker Serginho was simply awful! God only know how many more goals they would have scored if Careca of Napoli had been fit...

Nossa sou fã do Eder desde quando jogava no gremio de porta alegre depois no atlético mineiro seleção brasileira eu fiquei muito chateado quando o Tele cortou o eder aleijo da seleção de 86. Jogava com reça elegancia com maestria chute forte e certeiro para ele é um genio do futebol brasileiro
Tive a sorte de ver Éder e Nelinho jogando pelo meu Grêmio,naquela época o Éder era chamado de o "Canhão do Olímpico" além do chute monstruoso também era genial com a perna esquerda

I remember that team Brazilian team of 1982 very well. They just scored incredible, magical goals. I still think the one Eder scored against the Soviet Union was one of the best ever in a world cup. The balll left his boot like a bullet from a gun - and only time the keeper saw it myst have been when ot hit the back of the net! However their striker Serginho was simply awful! God only know how many more goals they would have scored if Careca of Napoli had been fit...

Sou cruzeirense e na década de 80, não perdia um clássico no Mineirão e o Éderme fazia tremer. Ele é o Nelinho foram os meus maiores ídolos no futebol.
Nelinho segnò un gol bellissimo a Dino Zoff nella finale per il terzo posto, al Mondiale 1978. Me lo ricordo. L’altro gol credo fu Dirceu. Il Brasile ci battè ma io ero felice lo stesso. Che bei tempi. Sono italiano, ma ho sempre amato il Brasile per la bellezza del suo calcio. E anche delle sue ragazze, ma questa è un’altra storia. Il Brasile è il Calcio, e lo sarà sempre.

Torço para que o Brasil volte a jogar como antes, também para que a Itália volte a ser uma grande seleção como foi no passado!
