- A spectacular left winger who adorned the glorious Brazil team of 1982. Has there ever been a harder striker of the ball? This montage could just as easily been titled 'Outside Left'. Apologies; video quality is variable throughout.

Great video. The free kick against Argentina is one of the greatest shots I've ever seen. To be honest, Fillol's save tends to get overlooked. Equally impressive. That goal against the Soviet Union is a work of art.

I am not sure I watched the match on TV back then; even I don't remember he scored. What I remember is Andrey Bal surprised us by scoring 1st for USSR from long range too; then Socrates equalized.

1:00 ... Whoa... Into WC 82 I knew him only from printed media, and it's all about his long range shot. But I didn't imagine his FK like this one. It seems that I need to (re)watch Ronald Koeman's FK in order to compare with this. I have seen Juninho's long range FKs, but I find this FK by Eder is more exciting.

This team is my favorite ever; Socrates, Zico, Falco, Junior, Eder, Cerezo,.... As a child, the 1982 World Cup was the first to watch. The day Brazil lost to Italy was one of my saddest days. I felt the world was cruel and there was no justice. Although Brazil has won two world cups since then, Brazil's football has never been the same.
Yes, that team was magical. Except the goalkeeper.

The most elegant don't know,to me Falcao 1st,Zocrates 2nd and Eder 3rd.As far as most powerful left no doubt,I remembere watching a match vs Chile where Eder takes a direct kick from about 30 yards he takes little hop run to the ball and thows all his body on that swing( the Chilean player sticks his head out and 1 second later the poor guy is laying unconsiouly on the grass for some time.On top of the strong shot he was also a cold bloded finisher.@@battlevain
The irony is that Eder was actually the reserve left winger. The 1st choice left winger was a speedy wizard called Ze Sergio. He was absolutely sensational. He had pace, dribbling ability, a powerful shot, very good crossing ability, and he could play short 1-2 passes to perfection.
Ze Sergio, Reinaldo, and Tita were the first choice forward line in qualifying games. Eder, Serginho, Isidiro, Mario Sergio, Nunes, Claudio Adao were reserves. Careca was added roughly a year to World Cup 82, in friendly games. Sadly, Ze Sergio got injured, Reinaldo was dropped due to a clash with coach Tele Santana, and Tita left because he wanted a midfield role and not a right wing role.
Zico, Cerezo, and Socrates played in a fluid midfield. Batista, Adilio, Renato were the main reserves. Falcao was added just before WC 82.
Tele Santana had a very good squad of players to choose from but he made some unfortunate choices which cost Brazil the world cup. Serginho had no business being in that team and Emerson Leao was much the better goalkeeper than Waldir Peres.
Sergino was indeed a bizarre choice, and Peres, oh my! Brazil deserved better.
The teams will be more perfect if serginho and waldir replaced to Roberto dinamite and Emerson leao

I’d put it at no. 2 amongst the Brazilian left footed greats. The greatest was Rivelino, but Eder was a close second. Watching them play is a joy, even 50-40 years later
He was not the most powerful southpaw in the history of football. You need know Nelinho and watch free shot about Pelé and Rivelino. But Éder was great ! He was one of best player that I watched.
I wouldn’t say three times as heavy but these shots are still incredible to watch

When Brazil lost to Italy in '82, it was one of the most depressing days of my life. Brazil had played that tournament with such footballing beauty; that i couldn't believe they could lose. But it happened and millions of people fans of the "jogo bonito" went into mourning.

The 1970 world cup winners were better but the 82' squad comes in at a close second.
What I liked about these players from the 1970s/80s was that in addition to being excellent football players they were also very humble, even their celebrations were more spontaneous

Éder foi um atacante excepcional, em uma época de grandes craques. Hoje, trabalha no Clube Atlético Mineiro, o famoso Galo, clube pelo qual fez a maioria dos gols mostrados neste vídeo.
Grande Éder, a bomba de Vespasiano, presente e unânime na memória de todos os atleticanos. Chute violento, pontaria precisa, grandes golaços, craque de bola. Só o Rivelino é maior que ele, pelo gênialidade e por ter ganho a copda de 70. Meu primeiro ídolo do Galo.

Nelinho segnò un gol bellissimo a Dino Zoff nella finale per il terzo posto, al Mondiale 1978. Me lo ricordo. L’altro gol credo fu Dirceu. Il Brasile ci battè ma io ero felice lo stesso. Che bei tempi. Sono italiano, ma ho sempre amato il Brasile per la bellezza del suo calcio. E anche delle sue ragazze, ma questa è un’altra storia. Il Brasile è il Calcio, e lo sarà sempre.

Nossa sou fã do Eder desde quando jogava no gremio de porta alegre depois no atlético mineiro seleção brasileira eu fiquei muito chateado quando o Tele cortou o eder aleijo da seleção de 86. Jogava com reça elegancia com maestria chute forte e certeiro para ele é um genio do futebol brasileiro
Tive a sorte de ver Éder e Nelinho jogando pelo meu Grêmio,naquela época o Éder era chamado de o "Canhão do Olímpico" além do chute monstruoso também era genial com a perna esquerda

I remember that team Brazilian team of 1982 very well. They just scored incredible, magical goals. I still think the one Eder scored against the Soviet Union was one of the best ever in a world cup. The balll left his boot like a bullet from a gun - and only time the keeper saw it myst have been when ot hit the back of the net! However their striker Serginho was simply awful! God only know how many more goals they would have scored if Careca of Napoli had been fit...

He has never lived in Rio. He is from Minas Gerais, a non-coastal state. Brazil is a continent. The vast majority of cities in the country are not coastal. He currently works on the technical committee of Clube Atlético Mineiro, in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais., His favorite club and where he played most in his career. He is the club's idol.
