I played Populous on my Amiga 500 in 1989. I remember editors of the two big magazines for gaming in Germany. Power Play and ASM. Often the crew disagree with the other team. I remember Hybris, Kick Off, Dragons Lair or Prisoner of War. But this time every critics were enthusiastic.
Interesting that the magazines agreed on this one - I also played it when it was new, and I think it felt quite impressive and intriguing at the time. Do you remember why the magazines disagreed on Hybris and Kick Off? I remember Kick Off was difficult to play due to the physics, was that part of it? In my opinion, Hybris is perfect for what it is, but maybe not everyone was into arcade shoot 'em ups at the time? I certainly was! :)
What memories were revealed! Played on Amiga 500+
I played on my brother's A500 when it was new. Great times.
