My New Personal Best Trout?? (Tenkara Fly Fishing for Rainbow Trout)

  • MY NEW PERSONAL BEST TROUT ON THE TENKARA ROD!
    Is this the biggest trout caught on tenkara on UA-cam? I have no idea because I don’t pay that much attention! But either way it was a fun day on the water.
    Tenkara fly fishing is very annoying to me… your inability to cast like you would with the western style of fly fishing adds a new challenge to fishing for trout. However, some creeks just set up well for Tenkara fly fishing. This particular creek is small, has lots of fast water, and several deep holes allowing you to get up close and personal with some big trout.
    In this video I worked pretty hard on a few nice trout before finally going toe to toe with a big rainbow trout. I was able to land the fish on the Tenkara rod and cemented my new personal best trout! I then went on to catch one other big trout on the Tenkara rod, which made the day that much better! Small creek fishing never gets old.
    Unfortunately at the end of the day I hooked a nice trout and broke my Tenkara rod. I have no clue why it broke when it did, but this will be the end of the Tenkara videos for a while until I decide to get a replacement.
    If you want to see more Tenkara fly fishing videos in the future let me know! Thanks for watching.

      Yes, I would like to see it. It reminds me of a time when my people would cut our own poles to fish with, and they were usually between three and four feet when we were just kids. When we grew to our mid teens, they became around 6 to 8 feet. But you also took the short one because of the very thick brushy patches where only a very short pole will work and you basically slingshotted your fly out because there was no room for a good cast sometimes but even there you could haul out a 20 incher or better.

      Yep I think I may have to spend a little less money and get 2 to replace the one I had. Maybe one that’s beefier so I could catch some bigger fish on it if I wanted too

    • @isaacharmon9826
      @isaacharmon9826 6 місяців тому +1

      I have the Dragontail Mizuchi and Hellbender, and if youre buying two rods that combo will cover this stream and a lot of others you've fished on this channel perfectly. Tristan from the TenkeraAddict channel has caught several trout in the 17-18ish inch range on the mizuchi in tiny creeks with 5x tippet with relative ease. The hellbender can handle fish much much larger and can be safely used with 3X tippet, and some even use 2X with it. Just my two cents, hope it helps.

  • @jaysmallen3067
    @jaysmallen3067 Місяць тому

    I'm going to watch your channel regardless, but I'd love to see some more Tenkara thrown in every now n then. If you can, order a replacement tip section whenever you order a rod and keep it with you. It's a bummer to break and not have parts when you're miles from camp, rods and parts. I've western fly fished for most my life, but Tenkara is a lot of fun and as simple as it is, it has its challenges too. Which add to the fun! Last week here in the Eastern Sierra I used the HellBender to sight fish and bring a couple 18"+ Lahontan's and a nice 12" Golden from a small lake. Thank you guys again for your Sierra Golden adventure videos!! I also use Dragontail rods. The Kaida for most creeks and streams, a Mizuchi if I only pack one rod, and a Hellbender for bigger fish. Take care and thank you for the great entertainment!!

      I will for sure get another one! I haven't yet but to be fair the weather has been so rough this year with droughts out in the East that I'm not sure it would've been too effective the past few months. But I'll make sure I get another one ordered and maybe make a few videos with it this fall / winter / spring. Thanks for the support! Comments like these help me know people are interested in Tenkara / this type of video and helps me know what kind of content you like seeing! Thanks.
