My opinion for what it's worth, is, you need to find a machine shop with a sonic tester that knows how to use it. I've built quite a few Pontiacs and have a tester. 455 blocks can be very thin even with a STD. bore. I have a 71 HO block STD. that has one cylinder on the thrust side that is .119 thou. Cylinder movement and overheating just waiting to happen. If you start with a 400 block, you are cylinder thickness ahead. Good luck with the build!
