- (Aug. 7, 2021) Hard-hitting rising welterweight contender Eimantas Stanionis and former world champion Luis Collazo battle to a no decision after an accidental headbutt forces a stoppage of the fight before the end of the fourth round.
Unbeaten rising welterweight Eimantas Stanionis (13-0, 9 KOs) and former world champion Luis Collazo (39-8, 20 KOs) fought to a no-decision after an accidental headbutt injured Collazo in the fourth round, leading to the referee calling off the bout that headlined FOX PBC Fight Night and on FOX Deportes Saturday night from the Armory in Minneapolis.
The battle between the highly-regarded prospect and tough veteran contender delivered early, as Stanionis and Collazo fought at a close range and exchanged consistent power punches. Stanionis appeared to get the better of the early action, out landing Collazo 104 to 50 while connecting on over 52% of his total shots according to CompuBox.
In the fourth round, which was again fought at a close distance, late action saw an accidental headbutt stun Collazo and put him on the canvas in obvious and immediate pain. While he took his time and attempted to gather himself, referee Charlie Fitch was forced to waive off the bout at the suggestion of the ringside physician, resulting in the no-decision 2:31 into the round.

I just re-watched this. Boxers grow old over night. Collazo was done before this fight and now just a shell of himself. I saw many of his fights. He had a really good run, better than most and he made his mark. But 40 is 40 and he looked every day of it. Respect to Collazo a real one. Would like to see Stanionis take a fight against Boots. Im not taking anyting away from Staneonus, he looks promising, but the Callozo he beat was done.
Stanionis deserves 1 big fight against Boots, Ortiz or Thurman he's underrated for me.

Prime collazo was beastie. Fast strong technically inclined great defensively, hence the reason why he was able to fight at an elite level at 40. Got the pleasure of watching most of his fights
This Eimantas Stanionis is something else, those top guys are gonna have a problem with him I'm telling you, he's gonna get better and better.
He really isn't though, zero feints and probes, walks forward in a straight line with a static guard and zero head movement. He's a punch bag for the top boys

@@dguitar3831seems to me like he was walking straight in because he knew the power of Collazo wasn’t gonna hurt him. His guard looks really tight and he deflects a lot of shots, so even when he fought toe to toe with Butaev and got hit pretty hard, he was more than able to hold his own.

I'm always going to show my Brooklyn brothers and sisters support. Shout to my dude Lui! This is a case of bad management on Luis Collazo and his team taking a fight against a young tough lion. I understand why but I still wouldn't had taken that fight. Because Luis was 40 I would've had a taken a easier fight for him first. Luis was away from the ring for 8 months before that fight so he needed to stay more active. But again I understand. And yes Luis Collazo is dime with boxing 🥊🥊.
