    When you use cuticle clippers, don’t pull! Only pinch them and don’t lift until you have unhooked the skin from the clippers. This helps with less injuries and just the overall health of your nails.

    I also keep a cuticle pusher by the shower so that at the end of my shower when the skin is already warm and softened and clean from the shower, I can gently push them back to maintain them between my home manicures. This will save you a lot of work when you do sit down to do a whole nail routine.

    Thanks for this instruction, so thorough, would love a vid about hang nails! There’s literally so much info that’s controversial on nail cuticle care out there and I’m learning it’s such a sensitive area I have to treat with a lot of attention. Cuticle remover was a game changer I to injure myself so much doing them dry. My nails and cuticles grow crazy fast and with natural nails so cuticle care and filing helped so much.

  • @nastyakot

    Eponychium is the living skin at the base of the nail plate. The cuticle is a skin roller that frames the base of the nail plate. Its main task is to protect the nail growth area from bacteria, infections and pollution. Pterygium is the visible keratinized part of the nail plate in the cuticle area. It looks like a flaky part of the nail and fits very tightly to the nail and you must remove it during a manicure, otherwise there may be detachments in the cuticle area in the future. That is, first comes the eponychium, then the cuticle, then the pterygium. In the video you call the cuticle the eponychium and the pterygium the cuticle. We remove the cuticle and pterygium, do not touch the eponychium.

    • @kamkamgtb7957
      @kamkamgtb7957 Рік тому +7

      Pterygium is an overgrowth of flesh in the conjunctiva, which is the thin membrane that's transparent at the surface of the eye. I think you got the names confused.

    • @bekanimal
      @bekanimal Рік тому +3

      @kamkamgtb7957 there is also a condition referred to as pterygium of the nail (which isn't what the op was referring to) but there are SOME places that teach the pterygium as part of the nail, since it is a term that can technically be used as reference to webbing in various parts of the body (not just the eye)

    As a doctor my opinion
    You should never push through your cuticles they are very important for the protection of your nail health. Your cuticles have micropores, when you are pushing, you can accidentally push germs like streptococci or staphylococci inside... which are most common for nail infection

    When filing the natural nail a crystal or glass file is really great for them, as these types are super fine grit, which results in smoother nails.
    I’d also recommend (like SimplyNailLogical) to file from the outside towards the middle of the nail. Also nail oil everyday, multiple times a day, and push the cuticle a bit back with a cuticle-stick/orange-stick. The nail oil will keep the nails moisturised and they won’t break as easily; and the cuticle will look amazing and be very smooth.
    I’d recommend keeping that exfoliating/removing of the cuticle too a maximum of 1x week, because there is a high risk is of accidentally removing a bit of the actual nail itself and the skin will become irritated and very sensitive due too all the removal
    Hope y’all have healthy nails and a great day💚

I used to aaalways have brittle and splitting nails that don't hold up after a certain length but with the oil and a glass file, they have changed forever

    I'm right-handed. 2 of my nails from that hand are like 0.4 cm, one is 0.1 cm and the last 2 are non-existent cuz I bit them off (which I can't do with nails that have already grown longer as I have braces). My left hand tho.. All of my nails from that hand are long. One is almost 1.5cm and the rest is 1 cm or almost 1 cm. It looks weird af to have different nail lenght on both hands but I don't want to waste my growth and just cut it off. I listened to my mum once and cut off a super long nail and I'm regretting it. I've only started painting my nails like a week ago and I'm new to everything. I definitely need to buy a peel off base cuz I damaged 1 of my longer nails today by accident. My nail polish remover ended and I wanted to get the nail polish off so I just scrubbed it off, and I scrubbed off some of my nail along with it. Luckily I have a nail repair oil so maybe it'll repair it somewhat... Also, I did my nails before washing my head and most of them came off after I washed it. I'll definitely try to paint my nails with light & natural looking colors, probably will go for a clear-red-clear gradient and some glitter cuz I don't have the time to keep touching up my nails everytime a part of the nail polish breaks off. I still have some nail polish stuck to my finger cuz it didn't want to come off under the pressure of water and I have no nail polish remover anymore and it looks weird af but I don't want to damage my nails any more than I already did so I'll go to the store tomorrow and buy some nail polish remover as well as a skin-colored nail polish.Sorry for the rant, I'm off

    I dont think overusing cuticle oiil is a thing and if u struggle with overgrowth id reccomend oiling and pushing them multiple times a day if not at LEAST once a day!! if I only used oil once every 2 weeks it not going to be effective its like only moisturizing your face once a week

    kayli! I’m a new subscriber and you’re amazingg. I’ve always had good / nice shaped nails, I didn’t really care about my nail’s health or anything, but I did trim them usually. about a year ago, I got this really bad manna / habit of pushing my thumb nail back..I would push the white part, so there was like this really and I mean really ugly shape and form. good thing it was only in the thumb nail , I didn’t get the same habit 8n my other nails, so they’re just as pretty and normal

    i dont know if you knew this but i learned from cosmetology that for nail techs its illegal to cut cuticles, but if you do ask your nail tech to thats another story

      Nononono, it is illegal to cut *living* skin. No cosmetologist, no matter the state, can cut living skin. The "cuticle" you're talking about is the eponychium. You're allowed to remove the cuticle, which is the dead skin.

    NOT THE CLAIRO TRANSITIONAL SONGGGG I fw u the long way. Just spent roughly what I’d pay in one trip for both a dip powder and gel pedi in my new nail collection to work on myself from home, thanks for the tips !

    The nails on the right on the thumbmail are literally press ons. Fake results on thumbnails aren't very honest🙄

    i have been cutting my eponychium (which i used to think was the cuticle) all these years, and i just realised that’s wrong to do
    is that the reason why they have grown back darker and grown more?
    what do i do to manage them?
