Its not too bad just keep track of pieces and take good video or pictures so you can reference when it goes back together.... I saw a notification you asked the other day for full/long video but I think deleted comment. Here's my old one its 2 hours. ua-cam.com/video/UkWKTtpwO6k/v-deo.html
I've never been very good with Transmissions but I have bought a few trucks with the 4l80 in it and you get a good deal when they have no reverse if you weld on 1/8 of an inch to the accumulator rod it fixes it every time lol
Interesting! Haha. I need to learn transmission stuff, I feel like I won't be capable of handling something to do with the transmission right now, if I had to fix one. Haha.
Finished the brake it will make the 1/2 shifts but won't go 3/4 I can roll into it and after a certain mph it will just stop and act like it is in neutral but Holley will recognize it and will shows gears coming down like it's down shifting but wont actually work until it's back in 2nd any tips ?
@@BlaserBuilds seen where someone on the boosted LSx page was running into a shaft issue said he did 3 pulls and it sheered it off because of pressure is this where that dual feed mod comes into play ? @@BlaserBuilds if I do the dual mod and my instructions only call for me to drill the drum only and says nothing around pulling off the 2nd ring on center support and I do it anyways would it mess with anything ?
You would just be removing the HD2... essentially aside from the boost valve and springs. The hd2 valve and springs in the pump may work, but I'd contact Jakes and ask. The HD2 dual feeds through separator plate and removes checkball, so essentially when you install this you're removing the hd2 kit, and dual feed is done internally and with new plate.
In the D3 instructions I have it sounds like they want you to remove the "A" wire from the pressure switch and connect it to the new one. Did yours say to connect both?
Mine said to "T" to the pressure switch wire. When did you buy it? It seems like they're making changes to the unit so older instructions might not be the same. The instructions on their web site doesn't even have the pressure switch wiring, but there's an old one online from 2016ish that has pressure switch wiring that says "remove pin". So kind of confusing.
One question? Does your set say to reuse EPC solenoid bracket to insert plug? If so that is a different set of instructions than my kit did not say to insert plug.
@@BlaserBuilds Mine does say to use that bracket and not reinstall the EPC. It says to keep it plugged in and zip tie it up. Just ordered it during their Black Friday Sale. I am not sure which route I go at this point, maybe give them a call on Monday. How are you going to setup the reverse function? Use the momentary or use the reverse lights to control a relay?
Another good video brother. Always enjoy watching your content.
Everytime i see one of ur transmission videos i want to mess with a transmission. U make it look easy and simple.

Thanks for the video! I just finished my D3 install on my 4L80 for my grand national and just have the wiring left!
f yeah, littleton speed garage appreciates this!
Just in time for my morning coffee
Sweet action brother that's killer badass you'd be great as part of a professional NASCAR pittcrew
Bad ass Ryan !!! I’m being a JA and resisting the trans brake, but I know it’s coming....
Thankyou. Content will get used and reused this spring.
another great video. i wish i seen this before the shift kit video

Great video bro. Thanks
Good job on the video Ryan... i did one a few months ago and this video sure would have been helpful then. Have you used the brake yet?
Not yet, starting on 80e swap on the escalade this week.
Interesting! Haha. I need to learn transmission stuff, I feel like I won't be capable of handling something to do with the transmission right now, if I had to fix one. Haha.
Do you know if i can maker quicker in the first gear like the 4l60? Changing the planetariums? Maybe?
Welp that settled it, I'm definitely having my trans guy do mine 🤣
Lol.
Nice explanation- makes me think I could do it.- thanks
You can. It's really easy. Take pics if you need some extra assurance.

Why not just re-purposed the wires going to the EPC solenoid to operate the trans brake?
That works too, I have done that on a different build on the channel, and I prefer that method.
That’s literally what I’m doing right now! 👍
Do you know the pin size for the main harness plug? I want to run my 12v wire through the plug just as you did. Thanks!
Not sure. I usually use the PWM solenoid wiring for this now since the Solenoid is not used, and wiring is already there.
Could you elaborate on wiring the brake to terminator x???
Does that transbrake works woth transgo kit?
Does there need to be any tuning changes after you install one of these?
Do you have to leave the filters off the epc solenoid?
Slick
The o ring for the lock up did you put it back on or leave off ?
Good catch. Put it back on it using lockup converter. You can see it installed at 26:26 mark.

@@skylergaitan No. The dual feed mod helps create more apply area for the piston for 3rd gear and reverse.

@@skylergaitan You should have to pull the 2nd sealing ring. I dont think there's a revision that removes that step. Could call jakes shop and verify.
You can run a D3 kit on a trans that already has a HD2 kit right?

Any issue connecting the 18ga wire from solenoids to the 12ga on my solid state relay?
Should be fine, it's a very low current circuit because of the shift solenoid design.
