Back to where it all started for Chad. You have to watch this. ! was just 6 years old and I can remember hearing him perform this. It was my introduction to Chad. To think that I would still be listening to him and having many laughs 64 years on is simply wonderful. Good on ya "Sheik" Best wishes Mal.
Great Australian artist one of our best and he will go down in history in Aussie musical comedy. Went from hard manual work to entertainment for the masses wish I was that talented lol
I never lived in the wireless era, but I closed my eyes and imagined listening to this on some radio with a smiling family around me, in one of the old houses I see falling down or in ruins out in the bush now
Gr8 to hear Chad's first broadcast, last time I heard him live was at the York Townhall WA a number of years ago. Hearing Terry Deer again was a pleasant surprise also.
Thanks for posting this fabulous clip ... I'm sure I heard this episode live on the radio when I was eight years old! I had the pleasure of meeting Chad in Tamworth in 2008. He was still going strong and it was great to hear his fabulous yodel! I hope he's still fit and well!
How well I remember the nights we sat around the wireless in the country in Queensland and listened to The Amateur Hour and an item that stays in my memory was Chad Morgan singing "I'm the Sheik of Scrubby Creek". Radio was all we had in the bush and it was so much more entertaining than the radio of today. Good on you, Chad.
Absoulutely brilliant piece of australian musical history !.. i've always wanted to hear this the Sheiks debut , but thought it was probably lost / wiped years ago .... how great , brilliant..terrific .. thank you so much for posting this
