I know when I did my first oil change on my SV650, I was baffled by the slightly conical crush washer. I went with the 50/50 chance of pointing the cone inward to the crankcase. Turns out I was wrong, but no idea on if there is any damage until the next one in two years or so time! 😜

Thank you for making this to the point video. I plan to get the NK450 soon. Although i don't do my oil change myself, it's still great to know this to avoid problems in the workshop.

Couple of frustrating maintenance issues about the 450SS/NK series. The recommended oil and oil filter change interval is only 3,000 miles, so skip one and you might have warranty claim problems. The oil filter is a non-standard item (unless you have found an authorized equivalent). The non-standard spark plugs need to be changed every 6,000 miles, only at an authorized dealership because the gas tank needs to be completely removed. Air filter also requires dealer only cleaning at 3,000 miles and replacement at 12,000 miles. The manual maintenance chart says change the oil and filter every 3,000 miles AND clean the COARSE oil filter every 3,000 miles. They don't say what the "coarse" oil filter is. They mention the magnetic oil plug, but that is not a "filter". The 450 series has an extremely long 24,000 mile valve adjustment interval which seems a bit dubious to me.
On the other hand, my other buying option is a new Suzuki SV650 with more power, a tilt up gas tank, easy owner air filter access, and standard easy to find oil filters and spark plugs. On my current bikes (GSX-R750 and Sportster 1200), I do the oil and oil filter changes every 5,000 miles with quality oil (easy to know when the interval is coming up and not too frequent) and use long life iridium spark plugs that at least double the spark plug life span.

The oil filter and plugs are normal in stock items. The tank does not need to removed for the air filter.

@TheGardenSnake I watched someone else's video on air filter cleaning/replacement. It requires removal of the seat and battery, which exposes the air box lid. I was wrong and the gas tank stays in place. Looks to be owner serviceable.

Is this engine reliable? How did come out after first 1000km oil change?
One thing that keeps me out of these bikes is build quality and engines, but the 800NK came out pretty damn good.
