I’m originally from Darlington but now live in Australia. Shipped my S1 over here when moved in 2004. Wish i had a specialist like that when I was over there. Looking forward to the next video, now a subscriber. Also have NYLOC sticker in my back window 😂.
Regarding the aircon, if it doesn't hold its gas and the condenser is found to be leaking, Pro Alloy based in Suffolk do the best one on the market. Go for the black paint option because the condenser is painted silver, then over sprayed in black, so double to corrosion protection. Same goes for their all alloy radiators. I've got both fitted to my early 2ZZ NA powered Elise S3 (also a CAT S due to very minor damage about an inch long to the part of the chassis that forms a lip for the bottom of driver's side door hinge panel to slot into). Best to get the condenser and radiator done at the same time as it's a front clam off job, even if the condenser is okay because Lotus never got the supplier put a paint finish on the condensers (my previously owned Europa S, the Elise and the Evora I have now all had leaking condensers that weren't painted). Pro Alloy also do a top mount radiator fan upgrade as well (also fitted to Elise). The compressor can leak. After I had the new condenser fitted to my Elise, the OE Denso compressor leaked at the two joins between the three castings of the unit. It was boiling hot waiting to do sprint runs at some of the meetings at Curborough this year, especially as my car has a hardtop! Monkeywrench Racing sell a compressor and clutch for at least half the price of the Lotus items (Lotus sell the compressor and clutch separately), and that's even including VAT & import duty. Just a note though that the pulley is slightly larger on the aftermarket unit. Either way, you'll also need a new receiver drier for a new condenser or compressor.
I know that Lotus can charge ridiculous prices for parts, so I'm going to guess £300 for those door strips. Would love to see another road-trip, as your Nurburgring one was great. Cracking little car, well done!
I had an RGB for 9 years and now i do not.😢...thankyou for making this video though. Reminds me why i sold it 😅 absolutely beautiful machine, i love seeing the underside and build of these whilst up on ramps. Imo youve done it the best way...project to build up. I brought low mileage special edition n was scared to do anything to it. Kinda wish i brought one i could play with more. Great video 👍 liked and subbed
I'm gonna say £285 for the seal, not looked as that would be a bit desperate. Love the vids mate I bought an M140 because of your content. All the best
Toelinks, 100% Radiator, towing eye, 100% I expect there'll be more to the AC. I'd predict a regas will not fix this. Hopefully you can avoid the sill swap work. Check brake pipes in the front, I'd expect they are corroded, they normally are. No massive job but worth checking. Motor looks nice btw. It's an addictive brand once you get into them 😊
Upgraded rear toe links are a must if tracking the car. I assume that the Exige has the factory fitted chassis brace; I had one fitted to my early 2ZZ powered Elise S3 as Lotus recommended the brace in the Service Notes, especially if using semi slicks, like AO52s (I'm running NS2Rs as a stepped progression form road tyres to AO52s or equivalent). I've got standard brake calipers, but a change in brake pad material makes a world of difference. I'm running CL RC5+, which are good, but eat brake discs and can fade like I experienced going into the Melbourne Hairpin at Donington Park after heavy braking into the Foggy Esses. I get pad rattle with those as well. I want to try CL RC6 pads next (heard that Pagids are very squeally so am sticking with CL).
whats good luke! been nearly a year since i was riding in your acty, time really passed hah. maybe this year you should take me in your lotus😦 maybe... Just maybe..
What would you give it out of 10? 🤔
Not bad for 19 years old if you ask me...

Always enjoy the content mate! Doing some of the remedial work during the Autumn / Winter months then plan another Spring road trip 👍

Thanks man! I thought if I bought a CAT car I won't worry about putting miles on it etc because it's already lost a chunk of its value. Get another 👀😅
