Oh Thank you. This tour was my first concert, and first of two times seeing them. This was Malcolm's song to us fans. Those cannons blew not just my mind, as they are loud asf, but being at the top of the coliseum, the wind from them was literally blowing our hair out of our faces. Diehard fan from that moment since. To this day its like I can feel the wind when I listen to this song.
oh those cannons! i have been to plenty of acdc concerts, ima gonna say six times starting with fly on the wall tour which i attended in wurzburg germany in 1986 and later that same year perhaps the next but same tour in dallas texas. been to every tour since. for those about to rock is ALLWAYS the closing number. if they have not done it, and it is live, DO NOT leave. i have seen hoards of folks leave prior at every show. please, to avoid future regret, do not leave until the end of for those about to rock. even if the lights come on.... wait for it.

This came out when I was in Junior High School back in the early 80s. Theres been many more released since then and they just released a new cd this year.
As a drummer Wilburn has to appreciate the steadfast simplicity of this drumming, so in the pocket with just a touch of embellishment but rock-solid meter, because that tempo in rock is roll music can be tough to keep without rushing
I saw them on the Back in Black tour and they brought ALL their props!💯 They hit the "Hells Bells" with a sledgehammer, they had the "Whole Lotts Rosie" blow up doll, and they did "For Those About to Rock" for their encore with the cannons....not sound effects, the real cannons! You felt the BOOM! in your chest and every time they shot the cannons a giant smoke ring came out! It was unreal! Especially on the LSD we took!🤯🤣💯❤️✌️
Must have been real good LSD, the cannon's obviously weren't there on the 'Back in Black' tour and they didn't have the blow up 'Rosie' till a few years later.
@@snowblindoz I saw them in '85, "Whole Lotta Rosie" came out in '77!💯 Also there was a big box on each side of the stage and when they played "For Those About to Rock" the boxes opened up and yeah, cannons! I saw them for the first time about 12 years ago and then again 4 or 5 years ago. They played this song to START the concert which set the tone. The energy is off the charts during the WHOLE CONCERT. BEST CONCERTS that I've EVER been to, and I've seen MANY concerts over the last 30 years.
I saw their Blow Up Your Video tour in 1988 or 87 - they started out with Heatseeker! It was mayhem all around us when the music kicked in cuz everyone was wasted ( not us tho lol)!
FTATR is far from being a farewell album, because it was released in 1981. LOL 😆 Here we are 41 years later and they're still putting out great albums, i.e. POWER UP, 2020. And if you want more jam out of the FTATR album, listen to the song "C.O.D." it'll rock your socks off!! 🤘🎸🤘
Great band and great song. You know you have something when a band can basically do the same few song structures over and over again and it still rocks. Not many bands can be so great while be so much the same. This is not a cut down really. It is a great thing that their songs are still so awesome. I do like other bands like Rush and Led Zeppelin that grew and evolved over time better. But it is nice to hear a good old AC/DC song every now and then.
Dude! This album came out in 1981! ...the album after Back In Black! ...in a LOT of ways, fans can tell you that: it WAS, after-a-fashion, a "farewell"album (unintentionally). This awesome track is from 1980 The Back in Black album was done in memory of former lead singer Bon Scott who passed in February. They were contemplating quitting and Bon's brother told them he would still want them to continue on. Bon told the band about the new lead singer Brian Johnson before his passing so it must have been meant to be. Bon is proud of his band mates!!
Not a farewell album. Quite the opposite. This album followed Back In Black album which broke them into universal stardom. Thanking the fans is what this song is about. A 21 gun salute to the fans. If Malcolm could have found a way to shoot Angus from the cannon without harming him, he would have. We Salute you Malcolm. RIP.

that is pretty funny for those of us who first heard this song about 40 years ago but certainly does speak to the bands longevity and how amazing their sound has kept for close to 50 years. Appreciate younger people taking notice and realizing greatness
After falling in love with back and black and their older tunes I got this album and this song to me was like Thunderstruck is to most of the new guys...just over the top!
Great reaction. Good call on the “School of Rock”, Jack Black connection as Jack is dressed as AC/DC guitarist, Angus Young at the end and the song they close out the movie with is AC/DC’s “It’s a Long Way to the Top, if You Want to Rock and Roll”. Originally released in 1976 with Bon Scott on vocals. I first saw AC/DC in Toronto in 1983. This is almost always their final song of the show and back then, the cannons were so loud that they shook the arena and the night before in Buffalo, they apparently shook neighbouring houses, lol.
Went to this tour...when them cannons blasted, get back. Loud, loud, loud. One of my favorite concerts ever. I went alone and was not disappointed. To many people around to have a party!!!!
The River Plate Live version is a must watch. Real Cannons!! From the same concert, the videos of "Whole Lotta Rosie" (they serious), and "Hells Bells" (a real 1 ton bronze bell they'd had Cast). They are looking a "little worse for wear" by Dec 2009. 1973/2009, 36(hard)years.
Dee Answering your question: How band gotten their name? In the beginning of the band, Malcolm and Angus' sister had sewing machine's power adapter has AC/DC. Malcolm and Angus noticed it. They wanted a name with high energy. Name fits for the band.
This whole album is good . Although I never see anyone react to another album called " Flick Of The Switch ". That album is a great album , a must listen and very underrated .
This song always has real cannons firing off. I saw them on the first tour of this album in 1981, and the cannons were really loud and impactful in indoor arenas.
I saw them live in 1986 and when they did this song with the black powder cannons you could actually feel the concussion blast hit your chest when the cannons fired as well as the dust that was coming down from the ceiling that they were shaking loose. It was truly an experience where you experienced this song with more than just your ears as a live performance.
The song has two points of inspiration. When touring England during the 70's, Malcolm Young saw an old Howitzer Canon in a farmers paddock. He made a point to remember it. Then, before or during making the album this song comes from, Malcolm was reading a book about the Gladiators called, For those about to die, we salute you. Then he remembered the Howitzer, he got an idea for some lyrics that Brian worked on, while putting it together with a riff he was working on that he thought would pair up well with the lyrics. And there you go, one of the greatest anthems by the band that writes the greatest anthems in Rock & Roll was written! By the way, the canons they use for live performances, they are the real deal. They actually could fire live rounds!
This was the album that came out in the early 80s. Right after BACK IN BLACK then WHO MADE WHO. They were still in their prime only 10 years strong at this point (Brian Johnson's 3rd year.)
Jack Black is actually trying to emulate Brian's growl, not his voice entirely but definitely his Geordie growl... But Brians voice is that all the time... Like when Brian Johnson speaks he sounds like what I imagine a 1670s Privateer (pirate) with a thick Geordie accent would've sounded like...
How do you follow up a tour that includes a 12,000 lb brass bell? With a 21 gun salute of course. They had I think 7 massive cannons on stage for this tour. It was SICK.
They make Hip Hop look pretty lame? Great reaction guys! If you can listen to some early AC/DC with Bon Scott as lead singer, his voice and character is even more unique.
Oh Thank you. This tour was my first concert, and first of two times seeing them. This was Malcolm's song to us fans. some is sleeping thru this one!!!
It's an old album your okay 👌
The cannons ..fire
FIRE!!!!!!!
A simple web search will tell you that this song came out in 1981 LOL
If you're not going to let your lady talk you shouldn't be doing reactions with her..that was disrespectful
Studio version's great, but the...AC/DC- For Those About To Rock [Live in Landover, MD, Dec. 1981] (Pro Shot) - UA-cam...i like even better
I can tell you love music. Your smile comes from your soul. You are the man.
