How To Make Homemade Extracts: Black Walnuts
Вставка
- Опубліковано 6 вер 2024
- In this video, Bill "The Flavor Guy" demonstrates how easy it is to make an extract from just 3 ingredients: water, 80 proof alcohol, and (green) black walnuts. 400 ml of alcohol, 600ml of distilled water, and walnuts are all you'll need, and this very formula may work for many other extracts as well.

Love my walnut tree
Thank you so much for this video! I have 40 black walnuts here & Im going to start this process. So grateful for shared knowledge 💛✨
👋 from the Missouri Ozarks! I’m glad I found y’all.
wow, this is quite interesting.
Really enjoyed seeing the extraction process, is it so simple for any flavour or are some trickier than others? Would be great to see a lab tour in a video and the final result of the chestnut extract.
Its roughly the same for many flavors! There are many videos here on youtube that we've seen ourselves of people making banana, vanilla, orange, mint, extracts and more. The only trick to it is time and patience. Of course, this is just the simple method. In another video, we made an orange extract from various citrus oils & essences that is much more complex, but it provided greater control to what type of extract we wanted. It's thanks to Bill's expertise that we can make extracts up to hundreds of thousands of times stronger than its originating source. Here's the link to that video if you'd like to check it out ua-cam.com/video/izzzYCEDWZM/v-deo.html
You never said whst the extraction is good for. What will you be using it for?
Hi. I would like to make a cream with this. I assume an oil would be better. Is there a way to Distill the hulls? Maybe cold pressing would work.
Would this also be called Black Walnut Bitters?
What happens if the hulls aren't completely covered
I used the link in the video (broken) but found black walnut flavoring. Would that be the same as black walnut bitters (minus the cloves, peppercorns, cinnamon, etc...? I don't know if bitters have water or are extracted with pure alcohol.

Can I dye my hair with this?
Thanks :)
Thank you!
Can you make tea to drink from the green hulls?
I wonder can you use the actual nuts and not the hulls?
I need to know if the nuts can be used to make an extract flavoring. Not the hulls. The actual nut meats.
Yes, the seed inside can be used to make an extract :)
Can black hull walnuts be used to make extract
Hello. I stumbled across your website and was wondering what the shelf life of your flavor oils are for lip balms?
Very professional laboratory and hygienic precautions (PPE gloves, etc.), however the method of using a canning jar with an enamel lid to saturate with alcohol of such a high rate of cauterisation (high proof), is not very smart. I expect to make some oil or other raw extract of the black walnut fruit, without the use of alcohol, which breaks down the enzymes and nutrients in the fruit, and also leaches the heavy metals from the canning lid.
Good cinematography and editing on the producer's part. Helpful video in many ways.
Kudos,
Karl
do you have to remove the shells like removing the vanilla bean after the alotted time? (I have realllllly old vanilla in a jar that I forgot to remove the beans out of it years ago so I've never used it. I haven't trashed it yet but I always wonder if there is something that I can skip that step since I apparently forget it ;p)
Thank you for all of your products and videos.
I never take the beans out of home made vanilla, never had an issue. Flavor just gets better with time.
Sounds like some amazing vanilla extract to me
Hi,
It's okay if I use FRAGRANCE OILS (OIL SOLUBLE) with the following combinations ?
- Almond oil + FRAGRANCE OILS (OIL SOLUBLE)
- Alcohol (1/4) + Almond oil + FRAGRANCE OILS (OIL SOLUBLE)
Hi, question have you ever gotten a rash or hives because I just used gloves and realized the black walnut green hulls touch my side arm and felt itchy and had one hive bump, any recommendations or experiences or what to expect! Is it normal ? Also seen worms inside of it while there still green on some of them and is it safe ?
Tree nut allergy appears to be the case , pal
Hii sir please oil soluble aelovera extract recipe
What's the liquid you use?
Pure Alcohol and Distilled water :)
What are the reason for making a walnut extract, anything particular ?
Great question! Black Walnut Extract can add extraordinary flavor to recipes like sauces, flavoring coffee beans or tea leaves.
I use to rebuild my tooth enamel! It really works.
It's antiparasitic if you harvest the black walnut husk and topically the extract is antiwrinkles but ppl use walnut flavor for sauces and

TIP! those gloves wont last you 10 nuts. I wish i could show you a picture of my hands right now, and i had those mad scientist rubber gloves. It wont hurt you, but its a powerful stain.
yes same thing happened to me. first time doing it with a ton of walnuts and I used even rubber gloves and have no clue how it got in both hands. my hands look as if I had started smoking at 7yrs old , 10 packs a day.. so embarassing.. do you have any suggestion on how to rid the stains? I tried bleach , and soap for whitening on clothes, didn't work. thanks..
Ha..same thing. Gloves did absolutely nothing.
@@TereseJames3 try rubbing alcohol or aquanet hairspray(which is what i used to remove sharpie from my toddler😂)
@@TereseJames3 i have black walnut trees but i suggest using vasoline a few nights prior to shelling to help prevent staining🤷🏽♂️
How you can use the extract?
You can use it by adding a few drops into whatever recipe you'd like. Remember to start with small amount and add more flavor slowly.
it turns black in mere minutes so how in the hell do u get the green ones?!😂
don't get this stuff on your hands, it doesn't come off
So if I put it in castor oil do you think it will tan my skin? 😅
Anti parasitic
That's not an extract of the hull, that's a tincture.
A tincture is an extract. The medicinal properties are extracted into the alcohol...
