- 351w c6 trans. Runs and drives. Needed a little boost the day i started it up, ( gas down the carb and a jump) but it did pick up and run on its own after a bit. A few of you guys asked to see it, so here she is in all her former glory! Thanks for watching guy, hope you enjoyed, drop a comment down below and let us know what you think!
Speaking of the "46k miles," awhile back, a relative of mine bought an old ford with an "extremely low millage" of 15k miles. The car seemed to drive fine, so he bought it. A few weeks later the transmission was slipping and he discovered there was a massive oil leakage and coolant leakage. He brought the car to a mechanic, and the mechanic gave him an estimated millage of 300k miles. I just love it when people rely on a 5 digit odometer to name the total miles.
Finally something that was around the year I was born a 33-year old Ford van love it
This one brings back memories, I had one in the mid 90's. Sliding sideways down snow covered hills in Pittsburgh. Lots of fun. Thanks for showing it.
I love that you educate people about the five digit odometer situation, cudos brotha
The 4V on the air cleaner stands of 4 Venturi a.k.a. 4 barrel...
I had a '88! ecoline maroon color mine was loaded had to replace steering wheel because cruise control went haywire and stayed on lol scared the shit out of me lol
This van brings back a lot of memories. My family had them new in '76 and '78. I learned to drive in a very similar van. Put a lot of miles on them as a teen. Our vans had 351W's and Motorcraft carbs that would freeze up in winter and make the engine diesel in summer. But very sturdy, well built vans that could take a lot of abuse. This scrapped van has the worst conversion styling I've ever seen, inside and out.
Thank you so much for making such an in depth video on that great van. I wish for someone to go and buy that van as a whole and fix it up and enjoy it. What a great Van!
Thank you for posting Jay. You are correct about the transmission being a C-6 (C stands for the decade introduced and the 6 stands for the year in the decade, thus 'C-6'!). The bell housings came in two bolt patterns one was for the smaller engine bolt patterns, and, of course, one for the large engines. The C-6 is a very robust transmission, but consumes a lot of power to operate. If they ran a bit hot, the fluid would get pretty brown and get a strong varnish smell. This van does not look too bad at all, and tidied up and fixed by somebody in the hobby, would be a nice Malaise Era showboat!
+ymxctrails Yes I still have the Vista Cruiser!
I remember these conversion vans from the 80s. They were cool. We had a 1986 Dodge Ram which had plush carpet, space for tv and ice chest and a back seat fold down into bed. Great for camping.
Yea my neighbor has a dodge version. His was super nice compared to my 84 chevy G20 Conversion. I was always a little jealous
I think it'd be funner to see the cars actually run in these videos, if they do. Either way enjoying the content!
Dell0304 Yess! True!!
Dell0304 he drives them around the yard in some videos
well if it ran i dont think it would be where it is dont ya think? and who has time to walk around with a jump pack, gas and the time to try to start up a SCRAPPED CAR OR TRUCK? im just sayin. just be grateful jay took time out his day to make a FREE video for us to watch..
Chill out bro, it was just a suggestion. Notice I said "if they do." He said it ran in this video. I realize it would be a little more effort, but I'm just providing feedback. I like the videos either way.
They get running cars a lot, in fact he shows them running and driving in a lot of videos, then tries to sell them. Maybe you should watch his old videos, before yelling at people.
Man, I wish I lived closer, I would have bought this van for my crush, she absolutely loves Ford lol
I personally like this generation of the Econoline lineup more than the modern version. They're so much easier to repair and maintain than the newer ones.
Wish this was in San Antonio!!
That thing is BEAST!!!
B.
We had a 1992 GMC Vandura tiara conversion van and drove that thing everywhere. Many family camping trips were done. Its last day was hard to see it go but the body literally was falling off of it
Dude I love your vids. Shame what some people will scrap. I need parts for my old ford.
That thing is solid. It's being a some money here in Michigan. I'd daily drive it for sure.
My parents had an 80 or 81 that looked very similar. I remember road trips in it. The back bench seat made out into a bed. We would leave in the middle of the night and my brother and I would sleep on that bed.
Cool van. Looks like its in good shape.
Dang! That van is almost mint on the outside. Here in Michigan, these vans are very few and far between and every single one of them is a rust bucket.
I just spent 2 weeks in a 2000 E150 Mark 3 conversion van. Good times!
That's not a bad looking van great video
That’s exactly what I wanted to see
Glad you enjoyed! Thanks for watching bud!
Pretty cool for a Ford. I'd use it for camping at NASCAR. I live in NY so everything is rotted out
31jeffburton it's a shame bc rust kills so many good cars up here. Get an inch of snow, and they lay down three inches of salt
I have never seen cars rust anywhere else to the extent they do in western NY (Buffalo/Rochester/Syracuse).
What a clag, I had to take my drivers test in one of those beasts.
They made a bunch of these in the '80s; a neighbor had a two-tone Brown one, just like this.
This would be such a nice car to fix up. I hope it doesn't get crushed.
Its still here so far. Only time will tell... (p.s. Loved fox and the hound as a kid haha )
Nigel Morgan Yeah. Sometimes I see these vans parked at Wal-Mart with no rust. They are pretty nice and are big like my H2 XD
I love the seats. They are so horrible that they are actually cool.
I love these old vans. Very comfortable and good performance despite the emissions control system
The graphics and body are in great shape for the age!!
Someone rescue this van.
I thought the same thing. My 84 Chevy was in great shape, but my graphics are not near as shiny looking as these . I was jealous
That van is worth saving, I hope someone buys it
I've always wanted to convert one of these to 4x4 and lift & put 35's on it. It'd be a badass wheeling rig
Very pretty van. I like
Wanted one of these. It was a 90s model i think. Fuel injected, captain seats all-around foldable back seat mood lighting built-in TV DVD. The Works all for around three hundred bucks.
This would do me. My mom laughed tonight when she herd I slept in my Grand Cherokee with my Malamute and Husky on holidays.
You guys get a lot of cool stuff.
For every "cool " thing we get, we have 15 terrible scrap heaps
Love these old Ford vans
Love the econoline. Wish I still had mine.
Shame its at the scrap yard. I need one of those vans. Here in Tucson all the conversion vans get bought up and turned into ice cream trucks
Gerald Martin that is not good hide the kids
It would be a lot of fun to see you try and start all of the older vehicles you get in
Those Zimmers were made in south Florida. Went belly up in 1988. This is the company that gave us the neoclassic Zimmer Golden Spirit, and the even more rare Zimmer Quicksilver (google it). The Quicksilver was one of the best looking cars ever made in my opinion. It was, however, based on a Fiero platform. The Golden Spirits were fox body Mustang based, but REALLY stretched.
wtf! It looks in pretty good shape
cool , i love hanging out in junk yards every now and then.
I had one a long time ago wasn't bad at all nice van the same company that did this one did mine lol
I want that van even in the state that it is in.
I love these ford vans
JAY LOVE THE VIDS
Thanks man! Glad you enjoy !
Wow, pretty nice for a 1984. I hope someone saves her.
Thanks Jay, you rock!
Allready sold? It has a nice 80-ies look. Nice base for a project.
Seriously this van up north would be worth re-doing because of the lack of rust. The 5.8 351 motor was bullet proof!
Thanks Jay!!!
Your welcome!
Overall it looks like a pretty decent van. The body looks largely rust free and pretty straight and while some bits are tatty they shouldn't be too hard to sort out. It should certainly make a decent project for someone, and I suspect it might be a fairly rare vehicle being such a low spec which should certainly give it some oddity interest. Plus not having the power bits on it means there is less to go wrong. I bet with that 351 Windsor high output under the, well, drivers feet it probably likes a drink though. One in that condition would be worth a shed load of money here in the UK and even more if the missing parts like the dog house and the rear seats could be found...
Nice Van, worth saving classic sryling.
Love the videos on the new arrivals, but can you post an update video once in awhile on savable cars that you did videos of that still haven't sold, and could end up flattened, like the 85 K-car and 90 crown vic.,and any others you posted in the last 3 months.
Pretty damn cool, love them ol Ford's. Your vids never disappoint.
I feel the more time moves forward, and the more we look back on cars from the 80s, the cooler and classier they get.. Things that were just terrible to look at in 85, are intriguing and wanted now today.
Glad you enjoy the videos! Thanks for watching !
Couldn't agree more. Older cars are just simpler and easier to work on in some cases.
Cool van :)
I want it. Road trip time!
I like that van
I would love to own a junkyard and just try to get all the cars running again
You think you would. But then when it actually happens you realize you cant save em all, and then you are dealt with the task of crushing them, but you end up crushing a little bit of your soul with some of them... Its terrible.. its like.. so much fun its killing you haha
dang that's really nice and in good shape I wouldn't mind having that really nice van I could make it mechanic van but I would keep it just like it is cause that paint is really in good shape who ever had it took care of it or tryed too but maybe a rebuild on the engine or tune and some other things and tires and gas it should be good to go and a good clean up wash and wax
Makes you wonder why they scrap them.
Body is fine.
Motor looked ok.
Looked used not too long ago.
Counts customs would love that van
Hey Id sell it to him! haha.
This van may ultimately end up in one of those car crusher videos in about a year or two, looking pretty much as it does now. Then of course, all of the commenters will be saying , "I would have bought and restored that," "they should make it a crime to crush something that nice," etc, etc. I'm willing to bet that last owner kept it around on his property for about 3 to 5 years after he stopped driving it, before he finally scrapped it, he probably thought that someone would eventually buy it from him. This van while it may be in relatively intact shape has no economic value, and is impractical and expensive to operate and restoring would be a great way to turn a large fortune into a small one. The proof is in that the fact that it has been there well over a year and even has a UA-cam video and no one has come and rescued it. Hell, it doesn't even look like any parts have been stripped off it. Time to warm up the crusher.
The switch that isn't labeled. Is an on/off switch for the reverse alarm.
here's what they put in em (varies FYI) 3-speed manual
4-speed manual
3-speed automatic
4-speed automatic
5-speed manual
That certainly is a C6 transmission. The 4V stands for 4 venturi for the 4 barrel carburetor. Those vans were built from 1975 to 1991. They were based on the 1973 to 1979 F series trucks. They had a full frame design, something that the Chevrolet/GMC and the Dodge vans didn't have. Those were uni bodies. Rust really killed these vans. Really a shame, they were built better than the GM and Dodge vans.
shame its broken otherwise i'd have it love these old caravans as you usa ppl call them,
Looks like these things kept the old square gauges that the pre 1980 trucks had
That was a 3rd generation of Ford Econoline from mid 1970's,1980's & early 1990's! 1991 was the last year of this van! This grille of Ford Econoline was from 1979-1991 models! Ford blue oval sign was on the grille from 1982-1991 models! In 1991 Ford has to make changes because the ratings are starting to go down!
My uncle had one of those! His was an 86 blue
Grab it up Jay! You need a new conversion van don't ya? ^^
This one's groovy! Or are you looking for an older van?
You remind me of Daves farm... I used to watch all of his videos before all that bullshit happened to him.. Keep up the good work, i'd love to see you fire up a dodge stealth or 3000gt, some Japanese rides if you get them in!
XuleGua He's just missing the 3 feet of snow, lots of beer, and skyhill!
Oh yeah bro.. and the beach, the Cheviac, loads of old start cold starts lol. Those were the days, what ever happened to Dave ? I know he found an alternative site to upload new videos but I think he stopped...
XuleGua I don't know, wish he never disappeared in the first place, I remember watching him ages ago, his channel actually had uniqueness to it instead of a lot of these stupid "toy unboxing" or "gaming lets play" channels. Everything is so uniform on UA-cam nowadays. Dave's channel was fun and had a pretty cool community following it, it's a shame he was charged for his horrible past.
XuleGua What happened to him?
FiveStarStreetMachines I believe he got busted with possession of child pornography or something of that matter
Why did you never see many econoline conversion vans compared to GM conversion Vans? Are they less comfortable?
That van would still go for at least 1500+ USD even non running, here in sweden. Its old enough to be exempted from road tax and the socialists have been going at it bad last few years. More and more people want tax exempted cars. Vans are very popular.
Come pick it up and take it back home! Shes cheap! haha
Just in case you care that's a motorcraft holley its numbered a 4160 single pumper can't use the 4150 kit on it if you need to rebuild it, nice van though
dposer10 I agree, a nice restoration project, would be fun to travel in
Good to know! Thanks for the info bud!
351w was in most of your mustangs... then they had the Cleveland and then what i had in my bronco the 351 which was a combination of the two
Thats awsome! This one runs out good. Bet it could lay some nice rubber
Jay Smart lol now that would be a damn good vid jay... See what rhe old conversion van can do.....
Between you , me and the entire Internet, its got some pep left in her for sure haha. Might be a one wheel peel, but itll smoke em i know
Jay Smart lol some one wheel peel is pretty good sometimes.... Any way to send u a message... U seem cool.
UA-cam has a mailbox system where you can PM it can be found under the "about" section of the channel home page, and has a small icon on the right hand side indicating message
I wish it had the 7.3 International IDI
This is too old to have that one, this (if diesel at all) would have been a 6.9
get a jump box when u do your vids start them up
Sometimes it takes to much effort. This old van would have needed alot more juice then a jump box can offer, and also gas to pour down the carb. I didnt have the time and needed to get back to work quickly after.
Just need a non walmart jump box. Friend of mine drives a tow truck they can start a diesel semi with these. www.amazon.com/Jump-N-Carry-JNC1224-3400-1700-Starter/dp/B000JFHMVG
Go to mjs junkyard in Connecticut and do a video there they got lots of stuff like for the kinds and stuff I like the one with that over girl sheep looking thing I liked last video I
Jay Do you sell parts out of these vehicles or just the whole thing? Where are you located?
Do a video about the van please do a test drive
I need ittttt.
Love old fords
Zimmer Moters is in Kentucky
We would love it if u tried to start them up please and thank you 😃
As I just mentioned, this van would have taken some serious electrical power. I tried jumping it off once already and the car i was using wouldnt do it. Had to get a big ford truck and TWO sets of cables doubled up on the batteries to light it off. It does run thou
come one come all to 1984
Were is the junkyard located
you can see a nice one in the video "Fronleichnam Dominikanische Republik"
not to be a pest but that van actually has power locks look at the Locking button it says power locks on the top of it those kind didn't have a button it just you pull up the lock and you push down the walk in that would lock and unlock the other side?
600 th like!
The gauges on these look like the 70s ford trucks
Do y'all sell the cars that have been parted out as whole cars if someone's wanting to buy it?
Nice, free parts from another car just in the rear of a van.
Wow what is the story on this one!
You should keep the van and drive it home
ok well jay do you know what that is in kalamers
Love those 80's ford vans
I liked the ones ive had, But I liked the gauges in my chevy more. My chevy also had some sweet pipes on it,
i was a boyscout up until i was 17 years old my scout master had a maroon van identical to the one you were looking at though his had a little ladder and had the spare tire mount with tire cover on the back though his had a old tv on the floor between the front seats built into the van had a vcr too and had the v shape top windows on the roof of the van you could stand up in it and walk around
Wonder if this is Tha same Zimmer as Zimmer motor cars?
Me gusta esa camioneta quisiera tener una Cómo esa
How much is this van?
