I watched this with my Grandmother. We were roomies. Great times!! 🎉🎉
I remember when our family watched this my mom said disapprovingly "I don't think Cher's wearing a bra!!" I was 17 and boy did I sit up and pay attention! 🤣
I never missed a show. Much respect for Sonny. A success in the music and entertainment industry. He was talented and funny. He wrote songs. When all of that crashed, he re-invented himself. He became a successful businessman and restaurateur. Then he became Mayor of Palm Springs. And finally, he became a U.S. Congressman.
@@jeffreyevans9431 - The point is, Sonny didn’t get as much recognition as Cher. ❤
I can’t believe that this was almost 50 years ago! So much history has happened since then. Sonny has been gone a long time. Cher still looks great. I wish they still made variety shows like that. The music was great and the costumes were fantastic. Now we have a jillion cable and internet channels and most of them are garbage.
@Susan Ellliot: A lot of the show original cast is also gone, Ted Ziegler died in 1999, Billy Van died in 2003, Freeman King in 2002. Murray Langstone (The Unknown comic) and Terri Garr who became an actress are still living, though Terri Garr (who is about Cher's age, maybe a year older) suffers from multiple sclerosis and is on a wheelchair.
I agree with you l remember them and know what it is entertainments it's not worthy😢
I always say there are no good variety shows today if any. CHRISTMAS SPECIALS TOO.😮😢
I remember being a small child, sitting on my Daddy's lap with a snack in my hand and watching Sonny and Cher. Precious memories.
Cher was so beautiful back then, and Sonny was so adorably cute.
Every Girl wanted Cher Hair.
These were the best days of television. Cher is amazing and Sonny was funny too
@Brian McLaughlin: True! but let's not forget that Sonny was the mastermind of their success, Even Cher had said during comments and interviews through the years that she learned a lot from ex-husband Sonny Bono. He was also managing them both so she never had to deal with rough trade in the business, at least during their 11 year marriage and partnership.
Back when the whole family gathered round the TV in the evenings....because there wasn't anything else to watch...the 70s will go down as the decade of television
Loved this show remember clearly watching this in the early 70's
In 1976 we would watch this show religiously !!!
This was one of the best shows in my day I'm still got a crush on Cher
It's so great to see this. I remember watching their T.V. show in the Seventies. Also great to see William Conrad, a very talented actor and director. Thank you!
Great, light, simple American comedy. Loved it!
This is better than watching the same things on TV over and over again.
I remember seeing these shows when I was a kid. Brings me back.
THis was by no means one of their best shows, but what's amazing is that they did these multiple musical numbers for each show every week. Incredible.
I remember when I was a 7 year old girl watching the Sonny & Cher show I adored that show, and to my surprise in this Christmas 🎁 show I saw that " bugs Bunny" stuffed 🧸 toy on the shelf when William Conrad first was performing, I couldn't believe it! Because I remember I did get that bugs Bunny 🐰 doll that Christmas 🎄🎁🐰 I absolutely loved that stuffed bugs Bunny and it talked too❗ lol 😆 I think when you squeezed the carrot 🥕 piece it talked like certain phrases bugs Bunny made ohh whatta happy Christmas 🎄🎁 I had as a kid, loved this era in life wish I could rewind the decades back to the late 1960s & and early 70s glad I was born in 1965🩷💕🕊️
I love that cartoon at the beginning...far out! And this was a old time variety show being done by then young people...too bad we don't have stuff like this anymore
They had so much fun together
Don't remember if I saw this 1972?!
Hard to believe it was an hour show, but only 35 minutes long?! 🤔
Met Cher years ago at a book signing in Santa Monica, was just like you see her on tv. Very pleasant and made jokes. I told her that it was a shame that a local radio station had changed format, as her album/CD had just been released, and would have received airplay. She agreed, and said thanks for listening to it! Later saw her in concert at
Arrowhead Pond in Anaheim. What a show... 'Wild Orchid' opened, followed by 'Cyndi Laupner' and finally 'Cher'! Massive sing-a-long to her hit "Believe"! 😃🤗
Also met Chastity at her book signing in WeHo, when she had openly come out... long before she became Chaz. 🤗
As for Sonny, have visited his gravesite in Palm Springs. 😢
The headstone reads...
"And the beat goes on"...
It still does...
Thank you Sonny & Cher for those great variety shows of the '70's, and my memories of you two! 😁
They were so hip! As a teen,I loved this show.
Loved sonny RIP..he was so funny 😆
Loved to watch them , but man they tortured the jingle bell song. Merry Christmas everyone 2021.👍🏻🎅🤶🍭🎄❄☃️⛄🌲🙏🙏
wish we could go back in time every boudy was watching sunny and CHER
Watching this Christmas Day at 7 pm.... 2023. I was 3 when this first aired.
I remember watching this every Sunday night when I was a young lad!
20:40, seeing Cher with her hair up, tenderly reading to her little girl Chastity shows a softer side of her...
I can remember this 😊 Watched all of their shows 😍 Didn't have remote but then there were only 13 channels 🤤😪😪 😂😂
Yes I remember that at 7 years old in 1972 we had to get up to change the channel or the volume
Great TV that year, Sonny and Cher, Kung FU , Love American Style, The Mod Squad. Love their album of 72 has A Cowboys work is never done on it.Remember one show vividly, the night Three Dog Night did the song ,Black and White.50 years ago . Merry Christmas!🎁 Everyone.2022 a week away.Still here. Shout out to the Indian with the teardrop rolling down his cheek that year.
They should've sang more Christmas songs. I love the matching fur hats! There's Chastity at the end.
Cher looks gorgeous!❤
Actually, I wish this WAS the episode with Captain Kangaroo. This is one of the two Christmas episodes with William Conrad.
Omg they look and sound fantastic, love it!
Bills story of the Life of Jesus was a perfect ending to a lovely Christmas special. Thank you so much Clarke. Wishing you and your viewers a blessed Christmas.😊
Great upload. FYI: The video is their Christmas show from 1972, not 1976. The still image is from their 1976 show.
There you go they just said joy to the world and peace on earth this was the most neatest show back then to watch.you might not think so!
I was born on dec 9 1972…. I wonder when this aired. Such a great piece of history!
🎄"The Sonny & Cher Comedy Hour"
Episode 32, Season 3
CBS air date: December 20, 1972
Cher is a goddess. Always was and always will be. It is too bad she messed with her face but that is entirely her choice.
she looks fabulous now...and what praytell would be the alternative? She look like an old woman in her 70s! I think she looked best in Burlesque a few years ago...very tastefully done
@@lisawentworth6831 And what, pray tell, is wrong with looking like an "old woman"? It seems you have just insulted a great part of the population. Getting plastic surgery does not make you look younger. It makes you look your age but very strange IMHO.
I said it is her choice what she does with herself. My opinion is she looks weird. That is just my opinion which means nothing to her. She doesn't need defending, she is Cher.
Blast from the past, same year I graduated.
I adore these guys
A late Canadian comedic actor worked as an extra on the Sonny & Cher show. He said in an interview that both of them were first class arrogant as*holes.
Very conscious. Nice. For a variety of American Culture. Well done
I love this great Sonny And cher Christmas Special
Loved this show
I like how Sonny say is blue my favourite colour when they do the Sonny and Cher on vacation I know that Sonny loves blue cause his wears a lot of blue stuff on their show
Last few minutes are focused on Jesus . How nice, how surprising. Wow
Remember this was in the 70s before religion was hijacked into a political cult🤷🏼♂️
Murray Langston AKA The Unknown Comic regular of The Gong Show.
😂I know my grandma 😎she couldn't 😊😅 believe tv let her show here belly button probably the 70's.
share once said sunny "is the oak tree in my life"
Cher is the best 💕
Cher had a nice little set
I was born in the early 60’s and remember that…it seemed to me as a kid anyway, that during the 70’s at least, every popular singer/group would end up getting a variety show. From “The Captain and Tennille Show, Engelbert Humperdinck, The Jackson’s, Tony Orlando, etc., could you imagine the horrible acts now…lack anything if value and autotuned…having variety shows? Oh man, that would truly destroy the country! 🤭🙈🙉🙊
Rip sonny Cher I love youu
Now imagine what it must have been like to have been a 4 year-old watching these hippies in this groovy show! Sonny breaking on Cher about being an Indian was pretty funny!
@Jami Nova: He always made funny jokes about her partly American Indian heritage.
That song "The world is black, the world is white" is exactly what we need today. We are all brothers and sisters under our Father God!
Acts 17:26 "And He has made from one blood every nation of men to dwell on all the face of the earth..."
Lyrics:
Dashing through the snow
In a one-horse open sleigh
O'er the fields we go
Laughing all the way
Bells on bobtails ring
Making spirits bright
What fun it is to ride and sing
A sleighing song tonight, oh!
Jingle bells, jingle bells
Jingle all the way
Oh, what fun it is to ride
In a one-horse open sleigh, hey!
Jingle bells, jingle bells
Jingle all the way
Oh what fun it is to ride
In a one-horse open sleigh
Remember this... ??? ENJOY, 2022...
William Conrad played Matt Dillon on the radio version of Gunsmoke, but he did NOT play Captain Kangaroo.
Wish I got a new Quad 8track stereo with 8track tapes for Christmas again today..
That's what u need on tv now but probably won't see in this crummy world today they don't want to mention God at all that's why this world right now is going hell
Anyone notice Teri Garr around the 25:55 mark? I think she got her start on the sonny and Cher show. Whatever happened to Teri Garr anyway?
RIP Sonny
ENJOY, 2022... LOVE IT...
Gawd. He was lucky to be at the right place at the right time and ride her talent.
No buster he made her he wrote the songs produced them and if it wasn't for him she wouldn't be anything she even said it herself she didn't even want to sing without him plus she was a lot better with him her daughter was better then too
Always loved their straight men!
These shows look so schmaltzy. But times have changed so much
My Grandma cried when they got divorced
Something seems a bit different about Chaz. I can't seem to figure it out though.
I never liked her/ him I think it ruined Sonny and chers marriage to be honest
Nice 👍
My mistake, William Conrad tells the story of the nativity in this one because the following year he tells the story of Virginia O’Hanlan.
Even then there was a lot of commercial time for a 60 minute show! There was only 35 minutes of actual show time.
I liked Cher back then ,,,as she got older her personality changed ,,,don’t care much for her now
W0W!
Speaks for today! We need to live harmony
Cher Wears Wigs, Just Like Dolly Parton. .😰😰😰😰😢😢😢😢
I Never Knew That.
She didn't for a long, long time. That long hair back then was real and her trademark. Now she definitely wears wigs.
Entertainment standards were largely low back then and haven't gotten much higher in the last 50 years.
Meaning what this was a good show a lot better than anything today that's for sure everything stinks today and its not even funny Cher definitely was better then too God was actually mentioned something u would never hear today
1976 was a good birth year for me. That year I came into this wicked world by two hippy farmers. But who's Sonny and Cher?

🎄 The Sonny & Cher Comedy Hour
Season 3, Episode 32
CBS air date: December 20, 1972
Gene Klein saw this and said..... 'yeah... Why not.'
The last credits read 1972. What a statement song by two people who were politically conservative or maybe they would become the way when they possibly got mad at their child when they discovered that they were different from what Sonny and Chere thought. I hope the ex Chasity is doing okay. My mother has never excepted what I am neither, but, I don't care. in spite of their politics, I enjoyed Sonny and Cher's art . This was right before they broke up and she would become the top solo performer with hits like," half breed. Then would become a top actress, also. In films like Moon Struck. Sonny would end up being a Mayor. I remember when they were interviewing his now second widow when he died.
Liked them better back then together it was a lot better they should have together
Btw, Sonny was a US congressman. Much more distinguished than the plastic mannequin.
😊
MICHAEL, SAYS... HELLO.."
No fake hair, all natural..no tattoos....all real..all.the time. No 'apologies' God is God. Jesus is Lord and Christmas is Christmas..
Introduced by Peter Cullen.
Billy Van was Canadian and I used to see him on CHCH TV's Party Game and later a kid's show called The Hilarious House of Frightenstein. He's really wasted here, and I don't mean in the good way.
I don't think so he was good on here and he wasn't wasted this was a good show she's a lot better here than she is now that's for sure so was her daughter
When was this og broadcast?
🎄The Sonny & Cher Comedy Hour

I'm looking at this in light of Cher leaving Sonny heartbroken. He really loved her. I'm trying to see where she is at here. After the first song she is looking at him like what is in his left hand. Now with the kiss scene he had garlic in his left hand 🧤. Her reluctance to his kiss and other affections may have been a previous Discussion and sign of separation eventually.
@@suziecreamcheese211 Never heard that from him nor her. She was a flirt and I wonder if your describing her and as many women close your eyes to her wrongs?
It’s a Ringo and Shelly Long Christmas.
So, this show was a "thing" back in the 70's?? I like watching old retro shows from that era, but I must say, the Sonny & Cher Shows are by far the most corny, cheesy, god-awful shows I have ever seen. And for some reason, I love it! But, I HATE it! But.....I looooove it!
Imagine fighting with your spouse, then you have to go out and perform for millions of people on TV and a studio audience. That's why cocaine was readily available backstage.
Why do Sonny sound so different in half the show like when his sung his sounded like his was sick or voice crack or something 😢
This was great, but by far, the best part of this was from 32:30 onward. Jesus is the reason for the season!
I remember being slightly annoyed with Sonny and Cher for altering the classic "Jingle Bells" but now it feels so quaint and a little poignant.
Looks like Cher would rather be somewhere else
I don't see that and she was a lot better then too so was her daughter too bad those were better days for sure
This was horrible give me Bing Crosby any time.
Wow. I am 66 years old today in 2022. I loved those days, and my heart still flies when I see Cher. Those were such wonderful days, and the memories I have are so priceless. There was a feeling back then, and unless you were there, well,,,all I can say is that I would go back, in a heartbeat. Thank you.
Ditto that Alton, even though I'm just a "kid" at age 56. Fond memories of my parents watching this and other shows in our living room. How I miss them (both my parents and how the times seemed to me back then).
Me too!
Me to
Yes love 💘 sonny and cher music is great 👍 she is so pretty great old days im.61 my sister is 50 😅😅😅
