  • The Toyota Rav4 is the best selling SUV in not only the US, but the world. And of course, that's for good reason. However this generation has been out for nearly 6 years now, so the question is can it still compete with other products that have been massively updated? Follow along this episode as we take the 2024 Rav4 Prime for a drive to see if it's still the king of SUVs.

Being a cyclist, like the bike test. Like the overall car too. I guess I'm dated. Oh well. Keep up the good reviews.

Love the bike test. Unless carrying luggage, I hate removing the front wheel of my bike.

BTW, it would be helpful if you posted the size of your bike. Looks like a LG or XL frame.

💯 bike test fan!!! Hope you get to review a mini-van like the Toyota Sienna. Would love to see that bike test (ideally with more than one bike) 😊 Definitely subscribing to this channel!

I didn't ID the specific roads, but I thought it looked like Colorado!
The vs CRV points were duly noted, in particular about the brake by wire transition from regen to physical brakes. Interesting!
The P in the PHEV is the main reason for this one (and the price), so it's mainly for people who commute in the city for 10-14 miles each way, and who can charge at home overnight. Does it also have a little more power at full throttle?

Glad you enjoyed the nuance about the brake/regen! The Rav Prime is definitely quicker than the CRV. This thing is actually kinda quick, assuming you have some battery left. You're right, still a somewhat unique use case, but if you can find one, they make sense for a lot of people.

All hail the bike test! Hoping to fit my XL 29er in there without taking off the front wheel.

Just got a 2024 Rav4 Prime XSE and just a small correction, that green color you showed isn't available on the Primes at all and Toyota only really makes the silver, gray, and blue. If you want one of the other colors you might be waiting 6-12 months and hope you get lucky to reserve one...they don't take factory requests

I have been scouring the internet for bike tests because lug mine around EVERYWHERE and I sure would love to not have to take the front wheel off but alas nobody has done a bike test for the charge space. Until now. Thank you so much!!

I would rather buy a car model that has been in production for several years than one that has been redesigned. Most mechanics would say the same.

Nice car but $55k for a rav 4 is insane . Plastic seats for $55k😅

In Canada there's a multi year waiting list - with deposits - for the privilege of paying full price plus dealer greed markup for one of these.

Sadly it's much the same in the states. That's the biggest issue with a lot of these PHEVs, they just don't make enough.

Do you get the year you signed up on the list or the current model year when you are selected?!?

@morstyrannis1951 Which provinces have a mark up? There was no mark up in December 2023. And yes, some are waiting 2 to 2.5 years for a Prime
