- BuzzFeed producer Aria Inthavong searches LA for hand sanitizer amidst the unnecessary panic-buying and hoarding taking place due to the Coronavirus outbreak.
As of April 3, 2020, the CDC recommends that people wear cloth face coverings in public spaces where maintaining 6 feet of space is not feasible, in order to prevent presymptomatic or asymptomatic individuals from unknowingly spreading the virus.

I was looking for chicken breast, drumsticks or wings to cook and rice all day at various stores and I could not find any. Everything has been wiped out... it's insane.

I'm here in France, and I'm just going to say one thing: to all the people who say "coronavirus doesn't scare me" "I'm not afraid" "I don't care", you're selfish, that's all there is to it.
Actually, it's not. Obviously, not caring IS selfish. The rest, not so much. Coronavirus DOESN'T scare me. Does that mean I don't wash my hands or do my best to keep it away from the people close to me? Absolutely NOT. It means I am confident the measures I was ALREADY taking to keep the FLU, food poisoning and allergies at bay are MORE than sufficient for coronavirus too.
It may be different if you know some dirty people. The rest of us, though were already trying to NOT get ourselves or anyone else sick.

@@izumiruki I actually have a compromised immune system. I just know that, if we're already doing what we can, there's NO use in being afraid. Fear, scientifically, REDUCES logical responses to stimuli AND reduces your body's INTERNAL ability to self-regulate.

@@izumiruki Procedures are in place. Here in Ohio, as of Tuesday night everyone is being ordered to stay home except for restaurant workers, retail workers and other "vital" industries. Vital for people to go out to eat? I laugh and am grateful at the same time.
As someone who lives paycheck to paycheck and tip-to-mouth, i have to buy what i need a little at a time. It helps to know that people are looking out for shoppers who care about curbing the spread, but don't have the option of bulk buying due to income.

I’m so glad this video came out cause I have a one month old baby that only drinks soy formula. Iv been to 6 stores that are all sold out of them cause people panicked... luckily my mom found ONE.. ONE!! Now I have to make it last while I find more...
My mom has been able to order straight from the formula's website for my little brother! If that doesn't work, I heard you can try calling the number on the back of the formula container! Good luck!

Girl, I feel you! I work at Walgreens and people have even gone to the point where they bought ALL the baby wipes (which most of them likely don't even have infants) and various formulas. As a mom myself, my heart is hurting because of this. When in doubt, ask an employee or manager about anything you may need - you might get lucky and land someone who pulled baby items aside to keep away from people who don't need them. I don't have babies anymore but i too bought wipes and baby food, juice, pack of horizon milk that I found🤞 for my grandkids cuz I hadn't heard from my daughter in over a week!! (Had me worried) she showed up today (had changed her #) which is why she hadn't returned my calls or messages. We gotta look out for one another these days. iman lawal from what I have experienced so far, I have not seen anyone in my store fight over toilet paper. But I did see people rush to that isle when the store opened yesterday when I worked 12 hours (opening)7am-7pm. Lines were forming even before I got to work. Yes prices of certain items that we are low on have gone up like toilet paper and soaps. This is due to the supply and demand aspect of the economy.

Hailey W we are getting paid more an hour until this is over. Yes I wear gloves. I wear two pairs because the ones that we have are kinda low quality. I sanitize my hands often. We get our sanitizer from a cleaning supplier so we don’t really run out of it. It’s not the sanitizer that you can sell.

The thin facemasks that go around the ears don't do much. The N5 hospital ones that people are buying up are the ones that block around 95% of germs/viruses and are typically used by doctors. If all the N95 masks are bought up by panicking people, then the doctors are forced to use other facemarks that don't do much.

My local supermarket has offered an elderly shopping hour before it opens to the public on weekdays and an NHS worker shopping hour on weekend mornings. I really like that idea and I hope more supermarkets start implementing something similar soon.

Despite some people’s selfish actions, I absolutely refuse to panic but because it massively impacts everyone else who needs this stuff too and there’s just not enough for everyone. If everyone only bought what they there wouldn’t be a problem.

I went to the grocery store for monthly shopping the other day and almost everyone wearing those surgical masks that I knew they wouldn't need. Also, they bought a huge amount of food for stock piling leaving almost none for those in need. I even heard someone complaining that they couldn't afford the food due to the high price.

right now where I live which is Trinidad always have a shortage of water and it is really hard to get through this pandemic and I know it is far worst in other countries. Also, there is a shortage of cleaning supplies in the country Our country has 57 positively tested cases and more pending. What I find odd is how the doctor said face masks won't help you at all and then turns around and says when doctors and nurses need face masks to take care of sick people they won't have them available. So if your an average citizen they aren't effective but if you're a doctor then they are effective against sick people? I think what he should have said is that they aren't 100% effective but if used properly they do provide a certain percentage of protection.

The scariest part of this for me is running out of formula and baby food for my baby. I have noticed that the baby food section has been dwindling down. There is so much stuff that older children and adults can get to eat, but babies need their formula because it's not like you can make them what you eat, especially if they are to young to eat anything except formula.

In NYC people( I've seen) aren't practicing social distancing. Supermarkets are PACKED with people and some places are hiking up the prices of hand sanitizers.

I work for a well known restaurant chain. We have procedures in place so your take out is safer than ever. The franchisee I work for has cut time between hand washings in half from the usual, has cashiers wearing gloves, doing end of day level sanitations every hour. If an employee exhibits ANY symptoms, REGUARDLESS of cause, they are being required to stay home. The only person to not trust remains the same. 🤷🏽♀️
I think that's what really scary is that two people I know told me that they tried to buy ammo and the stores were sold out! And one of the persons told me that when he went into the store all of the guns were sold out as well and not only that he tried to buy ammo on line and his order will be delayed by three weeks due to no stock! He's also friends with the local Police who License the firearms and in one day they had 3,000 new applicants! Yeech!

I work at a pharmacy. Honestly I understand the panic but buying everything really. CDC says you need enough to last you for 2 weeks not months. Plus through my work I’m really seeing how horrible people are it’s awful.

I appreciate this video. I work at Walgreens and there's no saying when the warehouses for the nation are going to be receiving anymore sanitizer, masks, or cleaners to send to the stores. We've been wiped out for over a month now, and people need to chill about it. It's absolutely astonishing at how greedy all the panic buyers have been and ruined it for everybody else who genuinely needs these products (even baby wipes, which makes me want to cry given that most of those buying them don't even have infants with sensitive skin who genuinely need those). We're all struggling and anxious about it, and getting mad at employees and harassing them about the lack of things (not to mention asking when we'll be getting more when we don't know that answer) is freaking exhausting. Trust me, it'll be on the news once we start getting these items again given the demand for them. We just have to sit tight, be creative with our resources, and support one another (from a distance, of course) until things settle down over the next few weeks. Please be kind, patient, distant, and respectful to those serving you and having to work in the crazy, even if there's a statewide lockdown ( not to mention everyone else around you). Hope everyone stays well, and washes their hands! ❤

I went to 13 shops before I was able to buy soap of any kind (managed to finally get a pack of 4 bars after wanting to give up) before this was certified a pandemic and before lockdown in the UK (which has definitely come too little too late and should have happened earlier, we are now playing serious catch up). However, you don’t have to use something which is labelled as SOAP explicitly.
Baby wash and shower gel can also work (baby wash is fantastic if you have sensitive skin) and if you’re really really in a pinch, you can use dish soap/washing up liquid.
If you aren’t one of the vulnerable groups or caring for someone who is vulnerable please think carefully about how much you are buying! I have 2 disabled siblings, my dad has long term lung damage from being a smoker for nearly 20 years and my mum is asthmatic/immunocompromised so I’m currently doing all shopping and errands for four people until it’s safe for them to leave. Please be sensible and DONT TAKE MORE THAN YOU NEED.
I wonder if they really are selling hand sanitizer and toilet paper on the dark web

I’m amazed this was monetized. Many people don’t read onscreen comments and just listen to the videos, so just correcting misinformation spoken with text isn’t enough. When the video gives examples of misinformation verbally, it also needs to be pointed out verbally.
If this goes on..Everyone’s gonna forget what Toilet Paper even looked like-💀
