Xbox's 2024: The Year Xbox and Microsoft barely managed to keep me as a customer and COMPLETELY lost me as a fan. They threw the Xbox out with the bathwater and the gen is only half over.
Yup. I don't know why people in the "gaming media" doesn't understand this. If Xbox games come to the PS5 but PS5 games DO NOT come to the Xbox than you have an inferior product/console.
Part of the problem with all media/xbox ambassadors is that they all have beefed up pcs. If you are on pc and have a ps5 you’re setup well. The changes they have made have primarily hurt the console. So I feel like they don’t feel they pain of the console losing exclusives and all games coming to other consoles
@@seentursch playstation is able to block their games working on certain platform SKUs, so they'd simply block their games running on the Xbox PC storefront
I know a lot of people will disagree but imo Day-1 Game Pass additions should be added to the Xbox line-up. I own a PS5 and a Series X. Why would I play Persona 3 Reload on PS5 when it’s in Game Pass? So for me Xbox had a great line-up all year round when I played all this: January: Palworld February: Persona 3: Reload March: Dead Island 2 April: Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes May: Hellblade II June: Octopath Traveler II July: Kunitsu-Gami, Modern Warfare III August: Dungeons of Hinterberg, Flintlock September: Age of Mythology: Retold, Ara History Untold October: Black Ops 6 Nov: STALKER 2, FlightSim 24, StarCraft II December: Indiana Jones and the Great GOTY A killer 2024 imo where Xbox kept me busy with something every month be it First-Party, Exclusive or Day-1 Game Pass additions. Xbox 2024 Score: 9/10 on the KF scale 🔥✌️
All these games coming out in 2025, now imagine they were 100% exclusive. How many consoles or GP subs would they sell? I would bet a good amount, yet, Phil thinks it wouldn’t matter.
Games I played on xbox this year: PacMan World, DBZ Kakarot, XCOM2. My opinion on xbox's 2024: 1. A good direct but just hype like last year 2. Avowed was a limited demo for gamescom 3. Palworld was not xbox exclusive. 4. Halo and Fallout TV series.. not games 5. Fallout 4 next gen update - did not care 6. Indie showcase, cant even remember 7. Xbox closes studies - smh 8. Hellblade 2 great graphics and sound, what about the gameplay? 9. Xbox showcase, loved it but again like the last 6+ yearsI have to keep waiting for games I'm interested in. 10. I'll stop here... Game pass may be good value for ppl who don't finish games and just jump from one to the other. I've found out, in the long term, buying the game is better ROI for me.
My opinion might not be much as a non-Xbox gamer but as a person always eyeing the competition and open to playing on all platforms, Microsoft has done nothing this year to make me want to purchase its console or gamepass service. With it's games day and date on PC or eventually making its way to Playstation/Switch, I think the Xbox ecosystem has become something I personally don't like with a severe lack of games/ exclusives. Hi Fi rush being released had me on the edge of getting an Xbox but that eventually went over to PC and PS5. Fingers crossed next year will have a better offering from them for me personally.
No offense parris but shut up man lol like you say things like they won't do this or they will continue to do that but you do not know any of that. Xbox fans have a right to be worried with the moves they are doing. Killing the brand more and more. You admit you were wrong about the just 4 games stuff but keep saying xbox will do this and that with certainty but you have been wrong multiple times.
The output of Xbox as a publishing brand and of Microsoft Game Studios this year can only be a 1 (a 2 if Indian Jones comes out and is at least good). Outside of an admittedly great summer showcase, they lack what you fundamentally need as one of the 3 console platform holders - just release great games. Xbox has never achieved it in its over two decades of industry experience, because they cannot manage their dev teams properly, an issue that only exacerbates as they buy more and more studios. The closest they ever got to achieving it was with Hi-Fi Rush last year, and we all know how that turned out. If you close the only studio that put out good output for you, you cannot under any reasonable definition have a great year. Tango Gameworks deserved better. After two decades of weaseling their way into this industry, Xbox still has failed to yield a net positive impact on the gaming industry. And that doesn't look to be changing anytime soon.
Regarding net positive impact on the gaming industry - Xbox has innovated far more than Sony has. HDD, ethernet port, xbox live, achievements, crossplay, netflix integration, game pass, I could go on
@@patrickdeucharsgk Incorrect on the HDD and Ethernet, PS2 beat Xbox to the punch on both and Dreamcast had ethernet support. Regardless, the industry is more than just Xbox and Sony, and neither of them are the real innovators. They're known for being the follower types of companies that only press forward on a concept when it was proven safe. Look at that list again and it starts to look less good when you actually look at the industry holistically. Xbox Live is Microsoft selling a lie to get players hooked on a subscription service to play for things PC players already had. Crossplay is by definition not a "Xbox innovation". Netflix Integration is a net negative just for how badly it caused the Xbone generation to be, so I'm surprised to see it called a net positive here. And Game Pass is a subscription service (derogatory) that undermines the whole industry and is a large part of the bottom falling out. Xbox exclusives are only great if you grade on a curve. Their output is far below their contemporaries on every level.
@@patrickdeucharsgk Remember, I am evaluating Xbox's own output here; they don't get credit for hosting an exclusive if they didn't publish it. There are some great exclusives on Xbox... they just weren't made by a Microsoft Game Studio. Their games are several degrees of magnitude worse than the output of their AAA contemporaries. Your analysis of their net positives and "innovations" needs a lot of work. Xbox did not invent the HDD or ethernet port on a console, Dreamcast had ethernet and the PS2 had HDD and ethernet capabilities. Xbox Live is also fundamentally a net negative for the industry; it took something that was provided for free on PC and forced consumers to pay for that (when remind you, this company is owned by Microsoft) while also doing it at a worse quality than was offered on PCs. And that's not even getting into its negative effect on gaming culture. Crossplay is in no universe a Microsoft innovation, just by definition. Netflix integration was a huge part of what devalued the Xbox brand going into the Xbone and set them up to lose by reducing their focus on games. Game Pass is also by no means an innovation nor a good service, both in a vacuum and its effects on the industry. When looked at holistically, from an entire games industry perspective, there is extremely little Xbox actually brings to the table. And note, this isn't even an Xbox vs Sony thing; Sony isn't an innovator either. Both companies are well known in the industry for being sheep companies; they follow the trends set up by the actual innovators. Xbox just has the misfortune of being failures across the board.
Paris defedning Xbox's slate of 2024 games with the June showcase pretty much sums up why I don't respect Paris's opinion on games anymore. You can't play a showcase. We've been prasing Xbox showcases for years, and every following year is a disappointment. Seems like a nice guy, but he's been a corporate mouth piece for awhile now.
Rn game pass it’s already I gotta think about it, if it raises to 25 a month at that point I’ll just sell it n stay with my PS5 or just buy the “exclusives”
It’s embarrassing! 7,5/10 really?? Just imaging to have only Xbox series x, so you missing in 2024: 1) helldivers 2 (prob best multiplayer) 2) final fantasy 7 rebirth (prob goty) 3) astrobot (prob best platformer) 4) silent hill 2 5) dave the diver 6) stellar blade 7) black myth wukong 8) pacific drive Thanks God I bought ps5 at the beginning of the year and will sell this useless box when my subscription expired.
Let me fix microsoft's gaming predicament very easily: drop the xbox branding. Their whole message is you don't need a box, yet they call it xbox. X used to be the edgy genX branding, but now it sound like a box for posting on twitter. If it was a massive brand it would make sense to keep it regardless, but it mainly has retro associations now. Rebrand "game pass" into "the windows game library" and sell a box called "microsoft game console" for pure gaming, then sell everything everywhere and watch the money roll in. I hope they don't do this, because the console space needs competition, but as a business move it seems obvious
I mean why not just get another 3 months wherever you got it again... it wasn't worth $3.33 a month for you?? That is less than a micro transaction on a mobile game LoL. I normally pay like $22 for 3 months n think it's worth it, but I like playing a bunch of new games all the time. Between BLOPS 6, STALKER 2, Flight Sim 2024, and Indianna Jones... that feels way worth my $20 in my opinion. Not to mention that Avowed that just got brilliant reviews from everyone who previewed it.
@@MemeCastGuy69 didn't check if it was a 1 per account deal but honestly I didn't played gamePass for the last month and a half why would I try to extend it.
@@MemeCastGuy69 AH the value is subjective right, I liked Hellblade 2 and Another crabs Treasure just fine/good games about 7/10... NO way I'll pay over $40 for them myself... gamePass has value for sure but Not $20/month imo, probably when perfect dark comes up I'll resub but it boggles my mind a casual gamer would pay $240 a year for it I assume they just cancel and wait for next Halo or call of duty I believe.
I found myself playing my xbox pretty sparsely this year, p3 and eiyuden beong the only standouts and i could have just bought them on playstation. 6/10 for me. Looking forward to seeing if indy is any good, but gamepass has mostly been used for indies and third party iny household.
I would give them like a 5/10, just even. Game Pass was good but prices increased so it feels less valuable. Showcase was good but not many things from it out yet. Hellblade was good but didn’t leave much of an impact. Feels like a negative for every positive
Don't get me started on COD BO6, f'ing game still hasn't loaded once since release on my PC, known issue hasn't been fixed.. Xbox and Microsoft support r useless🤬 no problem loading and downloading any other PC game pass game ... played stalker 2 all weekend
Xbox is your gamepass and media machine. You aren’t buying an Xbox for ANY SINGLE game, none that is exclusive and not buying gamepass and aren’t buying a PS5. To be fair I don’t think I could argue buying either one over the other if you can only get 1. The exclusives that are actual exclusives to the platform don’t exist maybe a few PS titles but none are PS5 only $500 machine worth. They are cross gen, PC also, timed exclusive or part of a subscription. Sony and MS fumbled this whole gen in different ways. Nintendo is the only game company running traditional “Here are games”. Everything else? As said above. It’s just a shit generation and I hope Nintendo excites us and 27/28 we get a new gen and new plan fir Sony and MS
If they gave PS a 6/10 then Xbox has to be a 5/10. Less exclusives, 1st party games going to PS (HiFi Rush, Indiana Jones etc) and at least PS have announced/released new hardware.
PlayStation also had 2 massive flops this year in concord and now Lego horizon. Concords flop literally being so bad that they closed the damn studio. But sure, let’s omit that fact
Concord was a huge flop and Lego Horizon was pretty meh (sitting at 71 on Metacritic). However they've still had Helldivers 2, FF7 Rebirth, Stellar Blade, Rise of the Ronin, Astrobot and Silent Hill 2 remake outside of that. 3 of the 5 main GOTY contenders are PS exclusives. That's a pretty big year along with both Ghost of Yotei and Death Stranding 2 already confirmed for next year.
PlayStation had the PSP, PS Vita, and now the portal which has cloud gaming now for a few games and will soon been more. PlayStation is copying Xbox??? I hope that’s a joke lol. Yall are really stretching that 7.5 for Xbox. Hellblade and COD technically, even though the game was already being made before the ATK deal. At best Xbox had a 3-4 rating this year. Furthermore, Greg saying Elden Ring DLC is a game. No it’s not 😂😂😂
@@j3t617 Sure, but looking at gaming 2024 there's an absolute treasure trove to hold us over until those first party titles drop. My backlog keeps getting bigger so I'm actually not sad at all that there's no huge first party titles on all platforms dropping every three months. If people don't find anything to play on their respective consoles (including PC), then it's on them, not the plethora of good to great games released this year.
@@Nergal134 Yeah I agree. Like I think it was a very solid year, but it’s also a wild year where we didn’t have a major in your face release from the big 3. Xbox had Hellblade which was their first game announced, came and went. @@masofdasyeah tons of exclusives for PS5 this year and has 3 exclusives on the VGA GOTy nominees with Astro Bot, Black Myth Wukong and FF7Rebirth. Other than that they still had Granblue Fantasy Relink, Rise of Ronin, Stellar Blade, TLOU2 Remastered, Helldivers 2, Silent Hill 2, Horizon Remastered and some other stuff like Metro Awakening(VR game)
It's crazy how high the standards are for Playstation. If I recall they gave Playstation a 7 and that's with Astro Bot, FF7 Rebirth and Helldivers and throw in Stellar Blade and Rise of the Ronin. If that's a 7 I think Xbox is at a 5 tops. And that's coming from someone who enjoys all ecosystems.
@@HJayZ91 really great year as a PS5 owner. Hopefully there will be a 30th anniversary showcase to let us know whats ready for 2025
Year of the Xbox 😂
Xbox's 2024: The Year Xbox and Microsoft barely managed to keep me as a customer and COMPLETELY lost me as a fan. They threw the Xbox out with the bathwater and the gen is only half over.
Yup. I don't know why people in the "gaming media" doesn't understand this. If Xbox games come to the PS5 but PS5 games DO NOT come to the Xbox than you have an inferior product/console.
@@superbit415what happens when the next Xbox plays all the games via PC storefronts? Then how do you feel about the brand?
Part of the problem with all media/xbox ambassadors is that they all have beefed up pcs. If you are on pc and have a ps5 you’re setup well. The changes they have made have primarily hurt the console. So I feel like they don’t feel they pain of the console losing exclusives and all games coming to other consoles
@@seentursch playstation is able to block their games working on certain platform SKUs, so they'd simply block their games running on the Xbox PC storefront
The only thing from MS I was excited about was FS 2024 and they blew that big time, game is unplayable, such a bummer.
I know a lot of people will disagree but imo Day-1 Game Pass additions should be added to the Xbox line-up. I own a PS5 and a Series X. Why would I play Persona 3 Reload on PS5 when it’s in Game Pass?
So for me Xbox had a great line-up all year round when I played all this:
January: Palworld
February: Persona 3: Reload
March: Dead Island 2
April: Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes
May: Hellblade II
June: Octopath Traveler II
July: Kunitsu-Gami, Modern Warfare III
August: Dungeons of Hinterberg, Flintlock
September: Age of Mythology: Retold, Ara History Untold
October: Black Ops 6
Nov: STALKER 2, FlightSim 24, StarCraft II
December: Indiana Jones and the Great GOTY
A killer 2024 imo where Xbox kept me busy with something every month be it First-Party, Exclusive or Day-1 Game Pass additions.
Xbox 2024 Score: 9/10 on the KF scale 🔥✌️
Dungeons of Hinterberg was great! I forgot about that game!
I bought Persona 3 on my PS5 even when I started playing it on Gamepass. Wanted to play it on the portal.
Me personally I bought P3R on PS5 cause I knew if I played it on Game pass I would need to subscribe for like 5 months
9/10?! LMFAO
@@ANTORT1993 Persona is a great game for the Handheld! Loved P4Golden on the Vita. I’ve played 5 & now 3 on the ROG Ally.
I'd give Xbox a solid 3/10 this year.
Lads it's okay to be positive and critical at the same time. Real green tinted glasses on this one.
All these games coming out in 2025, now imagine they were 100% exclusive. How many consoles or GP subs would they sell? I would bet a good amount, yet, Phil thinks it wouldn’t matter.
Keep in mind they're not day 1 on GamePass any more, unless you're at the higher tier. That was a major reason I sold my Xbox.
Yeah, I think Xbox is lucky to be considered a 4 out of 10 for this year.
I hate to name drop, says Paris, at around 17 mins, after spending the entire show til that point namedropping and talking about himself.
I've officially went PC. I hated Call of Duty, until I got used to a mouse and keyboard..
XCast is back??
Great recap Mike 🔥
Games I played on xbox this year: PacMan World, DBZ Kakarot, XCOM2. My opinion on xbox's 2024:
We need the garebear on the pod its not the same withought him , great show tho 🙌🏼

Parris and Mike grading XBOXs 2024 lmfao... Haven't watched yet but I'm sure they'll give it the score it deserves... 😅 /s
@Parris I can see it now too, and don't like what I see
The output of Xbox as a publishing brand and of Microsoft Game Studios this year can only be a 1 (a 2 if Indian Jones comes out and is at least good).
Clueless comment. Xbox from 2001 to 2011 had plenty of great exclusives
We are getting a Hifi-rush 2. Does Paris just talk without checking anything? Im so tired of hearing him say random stuff
Next year is going to be the year guys. The dominos are almost done being lined up.
Pure shills. They use corporate talking points while acting like they're just gamers.
Paris defedning Xbox's slate of 2024 games with the June showcase pretty much sums up why I don't respect Paris's opinion on games anymore. You can't play a showcase. We've been prasing Xbox showcases for years, and every following year is a disappointment.
Seems like a nice guy, but he's been a corporate mouth piece for awhile now.
i really misa xcast 😢
Rn game pass it’s already I gotta think about it, if it raises to 25 a month at that point I’ll just sell it n stay with my PS5 or just buy the “exclusives”

1) helldivers 2 (prob best multiplayer)
2) final fantasy 7 rebirth (prob goty)
3) astrobot (prob best platformer)
4) silent hill 2
5) dave the diver
6) stellar blade
7) black myth wukong
8) pacific drive
Thanks God I bought ps5 at the beginning of the year and will sell this useless box when my subscription expired.
This is a good point. I almost got a PS5 as Xbox didn't get a lot of the better games this year, but I may just save up for a PC instead.
This year I got 3 months of gamePass ultimate for $10 total and I remember canceling on the 1st month thinking, people pay $20/mo for this???
I mean why not just get another 3 months wherever you got it again... it wasn't worth $3.33 a month for you?? That is less than a micro transaction on a mobile game LoL.
I normally pay like $22 for 3 months n think it's worth it, but I like playing a bunch of new games all the time.
Between BLOPS 6, STALKER 2, Flight Sim 2024, and Indianna Jones... that feels way worth my $20 in my opinion.
Not to mention that Avowed that just got brilliant reviews from everyone who previewed it.
With all of those games being $70 each, if you like any of them, kinda hard to say it isn't a good value.
@@xtoper21 I have gamepass ultimate till June 2027. If you play games, it's for sure worth it, lots of hidden gems in there.
Stalker 2 saved Xbox this year. Here’s hoping indi can hit the mark too machine games can do it!
It's a buggy mess.
@ played for 25 hours so far no bugs yet but the dead zone issue is kinda annoying needs to be patched asap.
7.5 and 8 🤯. Wonder what they'd rate PS year lmao. Crazy.
Don't get me started on COD BO6, f'ing game still hasn't loaded once since release on my PC, known issue hasn't been fixed.. Xbox and Microsoft support r useless🤬 no problem loading and downloading any other PC game pass game ... played stalker 2 all weekend
They suck, what are you to grade?
No it’s not 😂😂😂
2024 has been quite a slow year for games in general. For xbox it has been non-existent. Appreciate Paris' realistic views.
2024 has been an absolute banger of a year, I really do not get this kind of sentiment.
@@Nergal134it’s because third parties really held down the year. In terms of Xbox’s PlayStation’s and Nintendo’s internal teams… meh
@@Nergal134 All the Japanese/Eastern studios released all their games this year. Very little coming out from Western studios.
@@Nergal134 Yeah I agree. Like I think it was a very solid year, but it’s also a wild year where we didn’t have a major in your face release from the big 3. Xbox had Hellblade which was their first game announced, came and went. PlayStations big first party game was Astro Bot, it got good reviews, but the overall hype came and went, and Nintendo dropped and Zelda this year… came and went. The biggest gaming moments I can think of are Wukong, Elden Ring dlc, Dragon’s Dogma and Silent Hill 2. Also Stellar Blade but more so for the constant back and forth around it rather than the actual game, so great year for third parties
Paris, play shattered space please
You guys do infinite(get it cuz halo) damage to yourselves when you give a shit year a 8 and 7.5. That's what you're going to get from now on.
