- My German Shepherd Dog Got Very Sick
My dog got into ER and we were so scared! It was truly our worst nightmare! Please be super careful with your pups during tick season because it can cost you their lives! - Домашні улюбленці та дикі тварини

Yeah, it's amazing how animals can sense other animals need them. My cat did similar when my yellow lab was nearing her end, a couple of years ago.
So sad and worrying to see a larger than life character like Tiget laid low. Glad to see he's on the mend and will continue to do so.
Fortunately we acted fast and brought him to the vet just in time. 🥲❤️

@@Juhorsegirl1228 There is a reason. Last year I lost my German shepherd at the most unexpected moment. During my exams, he got GDV which isn't curable. So when something like this happens it reminds me of him. I hope you understand.

I'm so relieved that the vets figured out what was wrong with Tiger in time, and that he's recovering so well now!!! I was really scared and sad at the start of this video, because I have a real soft spot for Tiger ❤❤❤. He's so lovable, playful, and has a beautiful soul!!!❤❤❤ It was also super sweet to see that kitty sensed that something was amiss with Tiger and went to comfort him. What a little angel she is!!!❤ 😇

One of our dogs developed liver issues, but not tick related. Irreversible, but still very much manageable and if done correctly, with pretty much 100% quality of life because it was a very early stage. He also had issues with vomiting. The vet told us to feed him a bit liver for the iron, give him different treats and change the dry food to something that has either salmon or lamb, and cut the sodium rich stuff.
As for Tiger: I guess the cat knew what happened and perhaps her maternal instincts kicked in with him. The purring is not just an expression of happiness, it is also something used to calm down kittens and even the cat herself when in severe distress. And even on other animals, as well as us Humans, the purr can have some therapeutic properties. Considering how early this was picked up and with the support, he'll be fine.
I'm so sorry to hear about your dog's liver issues, but it's relieving to know that it's manageable and that he can still enjoy a good quality of life. It's amazing how adjusting diet and care can make such a difference. And about Tiger, that's truly heartwarming. Animals do have an incredible sense of understanding and empathy. The therapeutic power of a cat's purr is really something special, isn't it? It sounds like with all the love and care you're providing, Tiger is in great hands. Wow congratulation on catching it in time. 4 years ago we too were very scared for our male GSD. We had just finished dinner and we were watching TV and the dogs were around us wanting to be petted as it was their nightly ritual. Suddenly Aik legs started to tremble and his motor function was compromised and it looked like he was seizing( fortunately he was not). So my parents dressed quickly and brought him to the emergency vet. As it was COVID time my parents were not able to enter with him and while the vet was talking to my mother on her phone my dad was talking to me.
It turned out that Aik had eaten a decomposing cork bark and after vomiting and hydration and a day under observation in the vet he returned and he was ok and full of energy. Still it was pretty scary to see the sudden onset of the tremors without warning.
Another time his mother scared us bad also. She was nursing her second litter of puppies when suddenly out of the blue she started limping without a visible cause. Her paw pads weren't sore, her leg muscles were fine also. The only blemish on her leg was as we were thinking at the time some dead skin. So as she was nursing and it came out suddenly my mom brought her to the vet. It turned out that dead skin on her leg was in fact a squished and dried up tick.
Fortunately by that time the pups were at 5 weeks old and they could be weighed safely as the antibiotic given to Charra was not good for nursing pups. I have no idea how she contracted the tick as we regularly inspect both of the dogs in summer and we always catch the ticks on time however if Charra has not started limping it could have been much worse instead she was only on preventive antibiotics
Now this is important. This is how my family deals with these pests. If we find a tick on the body of our dogs we cover the tick in oil and especially where the mouth is touching the pet skin. The purpose of the oil is to suffocate the tick and make the vermin let go. This can take some time lets say around 5 minitues( it can be faster also). Then we take twizzers the one for eyebrows are perfect and we gently grab the tick and pull( no twisting). There should be no resistance at all if there is repeat the oil and waiting. A successfully pulled tick will have its legs visible. it is very important to look for them as if they have separated it can be bad.
This is a method that my grand parents have though my mother and she has though me. Every time that we have used this method( not on squished tick that we though that was a dead skin) we had perfect extraction. The one time we brought our pet to the vet for tick extraction she twisted and pulled and the body and the mouth and legs separated THIS SHOULD BE AVOIDED AT ALL COST AS THE MOUTH WILL CONTINUE LIVING AND BURROW in the skin. For a week after that vet visit we were on edge for looking at any abnormal behaviour in our pet.

Poor Tiger! It breaks my heart to see him like this, he's such a powerhouse of energy and enthusiasm... He's young and strong, I wish him a full and speedy recovery. My dog had tick problems when he was young, fortunately made a full recovery. But living in the countryside you'll always have to be extra careful with ticks.

@@leofucarev Oh, he's ok now, thanks for asking! The tick problem happened many years ago. Now I give him a monthly dose of tick repellant to avoid any further problems. Seems to work just fine. Take care, love to all the pups and cat!
My brother lost his German Shepherd about 5 years ago from Lyme disease. It was very sad, he was on vacation and I had to take him to the vet. They said there wasn’t much they could do and had to put him to sleep. He slept at the foot of my nephew’s bed every night. 😢

Tiger’s kitty friend appears concerned about him also, which is nice. I hope Tiger’s human companions will observe themselves for ticks and seek care for any illness. My daughter developed a rash on her chest 2 months after I removed a tick in her hair by her ear. I had put her hair in a ponytail earlier the same day. After symptoms were apparent, her doctor prescribed antibiotic. 😊

My cockerspaniel suffered the same. He was critical and we had to do a blood transfusion. He's made a full recovery now although the vet did mention that it's challenging to fully eliminate the infection once it's entered the system
